Great place to stay for a fishing trip. The rooms are clean and comfy. The location is on the road to Rock Creek (of course). The store/Fly shop has everything you need for your stay. Drinks, snacks and of course flys, fly tackle, fly tying kits. clothing...etc. Truely, if you wanted to go fly fishing and had nothing to start with, they could completely set you up for a fun day.
People are super friendly and knowledgeable, happy to point you in the right direction.
Adding on to the great fishing at Rock Creek, you are also only 5 miles from Clarks Fork River, and just a few more from The Blackfoot River.
I spent 3 days (2 overnights) At the Motel and was able to fish three of Montana's better waters.
Already working on a "next time" trip.
Hint: there are only 6 rooms in the motel section so I would suggest that you plan early during the summer vacation season.
Looking forward to my next stay at "Rock Creek Mercantile and Motel.
To the owners/operators... thanks for such an enjoyable stay and order more Fat Tire.
Rooms: Rooms are fairly basic but very nice. TV, Microwave, bed, shower. Some of the best Wi-Fi I've seen in larger motels. Fast and FREE! Outdoor seating area for quiet time drinks just outside each room.
Nearby activities: Plenty of hiking trails and camping spots along the creek. And just in case you or someone you are with needs the city for a change Missoula is only 25 miles West.
Food & drinks: A few small but great dining options. I suggest Poor Henery's in Clinton (5 miles) Huge burgers, Pasta.

Rooms: Stayed in the “queen” room #6 with hubby and pup. It was set up nicely with a small table and 2 chairs, very roomy, ac, coffee pot, mini fridge and microwave. Wi-Fi was good. Overall the place is clean and well kept.
Nearby activities: Fishing stop for me.
Food & drinks: Not really any food options when you arrive except snacks like chips in the fly shop but he does have adult beverages! Not a problem since we had food with us.
Noteworthy details: John, owner, was awesome! Stopped in on our Montana fishing excursion and he was super helpful and dog friendly!

Very quiet and pleasant place, few rooms, rather family atmosphere. Well equipped room, space, comfortable bed, clean overall, a very nice place
Tissues were missing, and I didn't really appreciate the big black dog that jumped on me as soon as I opened the reception door to check out, he should be kept away from customers.

Bought my first fly rod here in 1996. Great spot on the stream with good advice, tons of gear for fishing and tying flies, etc. Great small flyshop.

From check-in to housekeeping, employees were super nice! Love the rate I had for a large bed and kitchenette. No cell service. Towels were nice, not the paper-thin kind. Bed was incredibly comfortable (I was in #5.) I'd definitely stay again if the rate were the same, and if I think I will be allowed to access the room easier (see below). Note- this establishment is not disability-accessible (does not meet ADA standards). The parking area is not near the doors, so taking luggage to/from my vehicle would have been very problematic for me as I am disabled. However, I asked if I could drive over the grass just to load/unload near the door and was, hesitantly, given the go ahead. This review would have been *very* different if I had not been given permission to do so. There is no ramp to get to the doors, steps only. The fact that this establishment is not disability-accessible is why I give 4 instead of 5 stars.

We stayed for a night to attend a concert in Missoula. It was so nice having a place outside of town to come back to. Beautiful surroundings, lovely people, great amenities. We will definitely be back!
