What a surprising find in an off-the-beaten-path area. It's not really off-the-beaten-path, but it also isn't near an area of Billings that is replete with galleries of all kinds. It's a nice place to see works from local or area artists. The collections change with some frequency. Artists can lease a spot to display their art at a reduced rate in exchange for volunteering to work in the gallery for a couple of hours a week. That's also a great opportunity for the artists to be available to answer questions and talk about their own work. An artist wanting to have a showing in this gallery/coop sends a few pieces from their portfolio for review by a committee. I have the sense there may be some limitations on the number or kind of art at any one time, just to ensure some visual variety. With a mix of all medium, from brass, alcohol paint, water color, photography, wood, and more, there's always something new. On my most recent visit, I was able to spend time chatting with one of the artists about one piece in that collection -- a conceptual work of her cat. It was stunning. I also learned some of the artists here will accept a commission for a private work. What a way to get a one-of-kind gift for someone!

Excellent gallery! Local artists in a wide variety of mediums at affordable prices. A great place to pop in regularly as the display changes regularly.
