Rock Creek soaps is a perfect shop for finding natural, hand-made soaps, candles, lotions and the like, all locally made. Because it's located in the warehouse area of downtown Billings, Rock Creek Soap can manufacture on the premises. That's an ideal way to keep costs down and pay attention to the craft. And that makes this a must-stop place. Although the current shelter-in-place rules keep Rock Creek from a fully operational stop-and-shop daily business, they are open one day a week currently, and the on-line ordering is always available. Being a visual learner, I like to see the product, inhale the scent, and, if there's a tester available, try it out. Since this tester option isn't available for obvious reasons during this current situation, I was able to see the product, and, if it was soap, could smell the main ingredients. One of the owners was able to explain the uses of certain ingredients and that was helpful. There are a mixture of bar soaps, swirled or stamped, boxed or not, and those with stamps, for instance of an animal, a marine animal, or a star, make for an interesting twist on a standard bar of soap. I couldn't really detect a connection between the stamp and the fragrance, but perhaps it's better that way. If shopping locally isn't enough, Rock Creek offers soapmaking classes, kids birthday parties, and lest the adults feel left out, a group party for adults to learn how to do their own product and then have fun on site practicing it. It's a fun shop with an entire selection of ready-made gifts or stocking stuffers.
