We really enjoyed the Training with Play group puppy class. We have a very rambunctious 5 1/2 month old cattle dog mix and she is stubborn. Kenzie and Sarah embraced the challenges of training difficult dogs. When we arrived for class they asked how things were going, and provided instructions on how to train appropriate puppy behavior. They were eager to tackle the problems and helped us train our puppy to stop jumping and biting. We are planning to continue training with them. The classes are fun and Kenzie and Sarah are very knowledgeable. We highly recommend taking your dog to Training with Play!

Professional, educated, compassionate. Training With Play’s trainers, specifically McKenzie Hegstad are an exceptional asset to have in this valley. In an industry often full of competing, confusing theories and ideologies, Kenzie simply takes the time required to learn each dog’s needs and fine tunes her curriculum (private and class training) to the individual dog and human partner based on their aptitudes, needs, skills, comfort with tools and concepts and most importantly the comfort of the dog and and wellbeing of the relationship - All while having fun with play of course!If something isn’t working or a novel challenge presents itself, TWP’s trainers are a collective wealth of information, sounding board and tireless researchers on the forefront of both the newest science and hands-on experience with a variety of dog breeds, personalities and human needs.I was lucky enough to be able to utilize Kenzie’s day training services for my sensitive puppy for socialization and basic life skills as well a month of board and train as a large, exuberant, intact male adolescent. When my schedule could not accommodate his age-specific needs I was completely confident he was in the best hands. At each weekly meeting it was evident both their and my relationship with the dog were solid and my dog happy, healthy, learning and progressing. Kenzie was quick to check in if anything presented out of the ordinary and come up with a plan for meeting the dog’s physical and mental needs (including snuggle time). She was also a thorough and patient human educator and supplied follow up details and directions to ensure our continued success with newly learned skills.Kenzie and the team at TWP safely exposed my dog to more novel situations, circumstances and opportunities to learn and refine new skills than I ever could have. Money very well spent! That giant, well behaved, now-nearly-adult-dog, still wags and wiggles whenever we pass TWP’s class and board and train locations. A clear indication of his positive experiences there. I can’t imagine a more resounding endorsement for his time in TWP’s capable care and training.

I am a first time owner of a Belgian malinois, Mielo. I started with puppy class but quickly learned that Mielo would do best in a board and train program. I was very pleased with my experience with Sarah and Kenzie. We met 1-2 times per week to train in different locations - my home , the park, a hardware store etc. They are both very knowledgeable and their dedication to dogs is very evident. Mielo loves Sarah and her 3 mals- she took excellent care of my pup while he was in her care. You’re in the best of hands with Training with Play!

Dog Trick Class was superfun and Kenzie Hegstad was a great trainer. Very upbeat and helpful! Great bonding with your dog! You can even get an AKC certification. Claire Silvey did the the testing.

Our puppy learned so much from his puppy class - and so did we! We feel much more confident in our ability to help teach our dog, and he is much more confident, in general. During the first class he hid under the chairs for most of the time. Six weeks later he was playing with other dogs and had improved so much with his basic manners and recall.

I was determined to have an obedient dog, and Training with Play helped me remember that I first need to build a relationship of trust and love with my puppy if we can ever reach a high level of obedience. Get ready for them to train you on how to be a better dog owner!

Marnie did a Board and Train with Kenzie and she is AMAZING. Marnie has become more confident in both herself and about making the right decisions. Now, she LOVES obedience training and learning new things, so it has been incredibly easy to guide her towards new tricks/obedience. Kenzie didn’t make my dog behave or force her into obedience; no, Kenzie set up a strong foundation for Marnie so that both of us can be confident when tackling new challenges. Marnie is 8 months, and nobody believes because of how well-trained she is.Although, despite how amazing Kenzie is, if you’re a dog owner that isn’t willing to put in the work then Training with Play isn’t for you. If you think throwing your dog at a trainer, or putting them through a board and train will magically correct everything then I would look elsewhere. After Marnie’s Board and Train, I had to put in the work in order to bring out what she learned. Thankfully, Kenzie didn’t leave me hanging after Board and Train, and I was able to ask questions via text or a phone call. There was definitely some fine tuning required on my training technique, but after some correction, Marnie and I are doing fantastic and are ready to take on the world!If you have the mentality to WORK towards success with your furry pal, then look no further than Training with Play!

All the staff members at Training With Play are passionate about helping owners get to know their dogs on a deeper level. Unlike many other trainers, I have seen amazing results from a variety of dogs. They approach each dog as an individual without any "one size fits all" mentality. I highly reccomend them!

We have had multiple people compliment on our dog Felix's behavior. He has transformed into a charismatic, confident, and obedient boy. Throughout our work, I have not only gained confidence in my relationship with my dog, but I have also developed greater confidence in myself. His work is life-changing, never underestimate the power of play.
