I have adopted several pets from Pintler and fostered dozens over the past decade. I love their rez dogs and that they serve the underprivileged, animals in dire situations.
Yeah they are not perfect, but neither am I.

I am shocked to see 1-star reviews here. I have adopted two puppies over 3 years and been very pleased with both the the staff and the dogs.

I was given an opportunity which was an unscheduled appointment to come in which was appreciated, but was unnotified when I called questioning about a specific cat that she was feral/extremely aggressive which almost caused me to miss an appointment with another shelter for a possible adoption. As well, I was scratched and bitten by a cat and not much help was offered when trying to interact with cats while we were left in the rooms without an employee.

I had filled out an application regarding a couple of cats that I was interested in adopting from Pintler Pets. The very next morning I recieved a call to set up a time to go and take a look at the cats that they had. Leslie was wonderful to work with, the shelter was clean, orderly, and the cats seemed very happy and well taken care of. All of the workers there were friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. I ended up leaving with a beautiful cat and some food and paperwork they provided to me. Would highly recommend this shelter to anyone interested in adopting a pet. Hands down the best experience I've had with a shelter in this area. Thank you Pintler Pets!

Adopted my service dog from Pinter Pets in 2013. He was named Roper and passed away 3/10/2022. The best dog ever.

We adopted our puppy here earlier this year. Kind people doing their best to help out animals in need. This isn't a fancy shelter and they are clearly doing the most they can with limited resources. Thank you for helping out dogs and cats, and for our wonderful Annie!

I adopted a dog from Pintler Pets almost three years ago and had a positive experience. Presently, I can’t even get an invitation to meet the dog I am interested in. It is not ethical to let dogs go on living lives with an unknown future if someone is willing to invest in their lives. If a person goes to the trouble to fill out an application and inquire about a dog they should be given the chance to meet that dog and see personally if it is the right fit for both the human and the animal. No one knows better than the person inquiring and the dog that meets them.

They are working so hard with low funds and resources to take amazing care of all the animals they can. Sponsorships and donation support needed!

Great shelter. Does a fantastic job without a lot of funding. We adopted a nice dog from this shelter which they kindly held for me until I could travel from out of state. This place relies on volunteers. Be patient and be kind. It's hard work rescuing dogs. Our dog was healthy and well taken care of until we could arrive. Shelter was clean and dogs were well looked after. Helps a lot of dogs off the Reservation
Edit:Just wanted to add that five years later, our little friend is still with us and always will be. We adore him. Thanks again guys.
I'm disappointed that during covid people are leaving negative reviews. Shelters around the country have been inundated with covid pet adoption applications and no help. And now buried with dog "returns'. Again...be patient and be kind. This place gets slammed with very mistreated dogs from the reservation that need a lot of care and gets little funding. It can often cost thousands to rescue just one dog. Don't complain about an adoption fee. Every decent shelter does it anymore because people don't value dogs otherwise. And instead of complaining about the shelter, help out. When I came, I brought treats for all the dogs I couldn't take, offered to walk a few dogs while I was there, made a monetary donation above what the adoption fee was and brought several large bags of dog to donate. Its a shelter in a small town, running on a small budget with volunteers. You're going to take home one dog after the hard work of rescue is done. They're cleaning up pee and poop, walking dogs, taking them to vet care, listing dogs, screening applications...for thousands of dogs. Its exhausting work. Have some empathy and perspective. I don't know of any business that has all the help and money it needs right now and am particularly grateful to ones that do the hard work of dog rescue that stick around.

I wish I had read the reviews before I started the application process. Not a great experience.I thought that if I was honest and transparent that would gain me some trust with them. I would suggest leaving a voicemail and calling even though they don't answer their phones regularly because I had an unusual and dishonest answers via email.
