I absolutely love the new store! They do a wonderful job of keeping the place clean and smelling brand new. Also, the two cashiers exhibited some of the best customer service I have ever experienced at a gas station and most other places for that matter. I will definitely stop there any time I am in the Webster Groves area. Great Job guys!!!

Twice employees have denied the purchase of cigarettes, which is completely understandable when the customer doesn't have an ID present.
The first time though, an ID was presented. The employee at the counter tried to tell my boyfriend that his ID was fake because the hologram was faded. There was nothing wrong with the hologram, and the ID was genuine, the age on it accurate (27 years old). Employee refused to sell the cigarettes.
The second time, the employee cashed out a $15 scratch off to my boyfriend, but refused the sale of cigarettes because no ID was presented. The employee refused to sell cigarettes to me as well because I was with my boyfriend, and we could be trying to sell cigarettes to minors.
I don't want to cause trouble for employees trying to follow the law and do their jobs well because I respect the concern about minors' health, but I'd like to point out that it's ridiculous to deny cigarettes to a customer who is alone, presents genuine state ID, and looks the age displayed on that ID.
Secondly, if the employee in the second instance doubted the age of the customer, why would she agree to cash out a scratch off? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it is my understanding the people under the age of 18 are not allowed to gamble or claim winnings. Shouldn't the employee have asked for an ID before cashing out the scratch off winnings? How can the employee then turn around a refuse to sell cigarettes based on the fact that she doesn't believe the customer is 18?
Before this gas station was redone, we went to it every day or every other day, since we live not even a five minutes' walk away. Now, it's the station to be avoided if possible because the employees are rude and illogical.
I'd like to suggest that management hire employees who aren't completely averse to selling cigarettes. These employees were sales associates at a gas station. A large percentage of customers are smokers. Turning down customers' money for reasons the employees have made up seems pointless and ride. Not checking ID for one adult transaction but refusing another adult transaction for lack of ID in the space of 1-2 minutes is hypocritical and illogical. Both instances the associates refused to sell, which doesn't really cost the station short term, but that has been 2 out of the 4 we've been there since reconstruction. If the sales associates have that kind of track record with people who live right down the street, I can only imagine how many in store transaction they refuse, which could cost the station long term. Certainly makes you wonder.
