I booked this hotel for my birthday weekend in STL in February. Initially, our experience was great. The rooms were unique, updated, spacious and a good value for the size. The front desk attendant was friendly and fun and the hotel seemed to be well maintained.Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this hotel due to our experience afterwards. My partner left a sentimental item behind on the desk of the hotel room. We called multiple times to try to see if the item had been found and were given the run around for days. Ultimately, we were never able to get in touch with someone to obtain the item and this left a sour taste in our mouths.Cute hotel, decent location, disappointing service.

This place is so famously bad, it has its own thread on the r/StLouis reddit. The owner responds to everyone’s comments saying they have no record of them ever staying there and calling every review fake. He will do it to this one too.

Part of running a business is dealing with criticism, from the responses on this page it is clear to me the staff or possibly the owner cannot handle critique. If you are the owner please hire someone with some social media experience to handle review replies you are not doing yourself any favors. I cannot in good faith recommend this hotel because of this issue. I hope you take the time to reflect.

Such a fun and unique hotel. The front desk and valet person were so very nice. Very chill atmosphere which was great since we got snowed in for a day. They were more than accommodating for our late check out so we weren't stuck waiting so long at the airport. Our king room was set up so cute and unique I bet the suites are amazing!Nearby activities: There is a bar in the hotel and lots of food nearby! Just minutes from the arch, the city museum, etc.Safety: Very safe area. No issues with parking out rental on the street with meters instead of pricy lots. Never felt unsafe and walked around all over.

Restaurant: Closed. Heated Rooftop Pool: Broken. Lobby amenities: Locked up and inaccessible. Vibe: Nonexistent. Room discount for lackluster stay: Nah. Will I be back? You tell me.UPDATE:Looks like "guest service" replied. Hmmm. Guess I now have my answer to "will I be back?" Their response regarding 'other things' is, perhaps ironically (?), "also untrue."And, yes, this reviewer does speak for himself -- as all my other reviews will attest. One last thing: Until they can improve 'things' they probably shouldn't use the word 'service' next to the word 'guest.' #JustSayin

My first time at this hotel was really nice. The rooms were super cute and we had a view of downtown. The staff was really nice. While we didn't get to go to the pool, I hear it's really nice in the summer.Safety: You had to use the room key to get into the hotel and in the elevator to get on your floor.Noteworthy details: The details were really cute, they had such nice artwork and books in the room too.

My husband and I got married here last year. This hotel is the most poorly managed and understaffed venues in all of St. Louis. A few months into our wedding planning the event coordinator from the hotel left abruptly and the replacement, Hillary, provided us nothing but assurances that everything would be taken care of in the transition. That was an unfortunate lie. From when I tried to check in to the bridal suite the night before our wedding and was told the room wasn’t paid for (despite confirmation via email the room was complimentary), to the fiasco of our wedding night, this place is a dumpster fire. Without our incredible wedding planner and her team, there is no way the room would have been flipped from the ceremony in time for our dinner reception. The event coordinator Hillary was missing for 5 hours day of and not responding to calls or texts. Though we were assured the AV system was state of the art, there was one speaker for the entire ballroom and the music was barely audible. Dinner was served over an hour late and was cold, which then delayed us being able to entertain our guests at the after party. After party appetizers were supposed to be served by 7:30 and the first tray didn’t arrive until 9:15, 15 min before the event was supposed to end. Our after party guests were leaving early to find food elsewhere as a result. Valet staff were being removed from their duties to help find and clean chargers, so our guests couldn’t fully utilize the valet service we paid for. Housekeeping staff were recruited to serve dinner because they didn’t have enough catering staff. The bartender was missing from the bar periodically because she was also being asked to clean and serve dinner. After reviewing all these issues and more with the hotel manager (Mike) and providing documentation from our wedding planner about how the event would not have even taken place without the work of her team, his response was that the invoice should’ve been paid before the event (which we emailed Hillary repeatedly to request this and didn’t actually get it until the day after our wedding) and that based on his conversations with his staff the event was a “success”. He also said that no complaints were filed the night of the event, as though I was supposed to file a written complaint with management at 9:30 pm when I’m leaving my own wedding to get ready for the rest of our weekend celebrations. When we asked him to remove charges for services not completed and tried to negotiate the invoice given the incompetence of management and event staff, he refused outright and kept threatening to involve his lawyer (but never actually followed through on this). Mike also told us that he is an investment banker and his partner was supposed to take care of the hotel business but that he was left to deal with this on his own. Clearly he has no idea how to manage a business and has no right to advertise the capability to host a wedding at this sad excuse for a venue. Just reading the responses to reviews for this hotel from “guest services” accusing every negative reviewer of being "fake" sheds light on how unhinged and poorly run the management team is.Do NOT have your wedding or any other important event at this hotel. You will be sorely disappointed. It’s a shame that such a happy event in our lives is forever tainted by the experience we had at this terrible venue. Can’t wait to read the insane response from management, probably will say this is fake despite photo evidence of our wedding there.

I had a great stay and this was the cleanest, most friendliest staffed place I have ever stayed. If you need a microwave the Holliday Inn express may have one.Nearby activities: A stones throw from the city museum and countless other great restaurants

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this exquisite hotel on the 16th block of Washington Ave. in downtown St. Louis, and I cannot praise it enough for its high-end appointments, industrial yet classy ambiance, and its status as a true hidden treasure. From the moment you step into the lobby, it's evident that this hotel has undergone a meticulous renovation. The high-end appointments are immediately noticeable, with sleek and modern designs that exude sophistication. The attention to detail is commendable, and it's clear that every aspect of the hotel has been carefully curated to provide a luxurious experience. What sets this hotel apart is its unique blend of industrial aesthetics and timeless elegance. The exposed brick walls and metal accents create an industrial feel that adds character to the space, while the plush furnishings and tasteful decor maintain a sense of class and refinement. It's a harmonious fusion that caters to those seeking a stylish and distinctive atmosphere. The location is nothing short of perfect. Situated on the 16th block of Washington Ave., the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many downtown attractions, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. Whether you're exploring the vibrant nightlife, attending meetings, or simply enjoying the city, this central location provides easy access to everything St. Louis has to offer. However, what truly makes this hotel a hidden treasure is the sense of exclusivity it offers. Despite its prime location, it feels like a well-kept secret, providing a quiet retreat from the bustling city outside. The attentive staff adds to this feeling, offering personalized service that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just a visitor. In conclusion, this hotel on the 16th block of Washington Ave. is a rare find that seamlessly blends high-end appointments, an industrial-chic ambiance, and a convenient yet discreet location. It's a hidden gem that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking an unforgettable and sophisticated experience in the heart of downtown St. Louis.Rooms: Comfortable and cozy.Nearby activities: Lots to do!Walkability: Within walking distance of eateries and various activities.Food & drinks: Close to numerous restaurants but the Ultima-Cocina Hotel restaurant was under renovation.Noteworthy details: See review!

We stayed 2 nights here. The pictures online made the hotel seem more inviting/nicer than it was. Upon arrival, the entry way was locked and can only be accessible by a key card. To me it made it not seem as welcoming and cozy inside- it honestly looked drab as we entered. I was wondering if they had this locked bc there may be safety concerns? We were on the 8th floor and I paid extra for a King room. The room was cute and nicely decorated and the bathroom was big which we appreciated. I did wish the bathroom had a tub but it was clean and nice. More trash cans in the room would have been nice. The bed was comfy but slumped into the middle- which meant my husband and I kept rolling into the middle of the bed- neither of us slept well either night bc of it. Also there were several clumps of hair on the bed which made me wonder if the bed was clean and if the floor had been vacuumed. My husband enjoyed the historic appeal of the hotel and how close it was to the Stifel Theatre, but I don't think I will book this again. Hope this helps someone decide where to stay!Rooms: Nice aesthetic and nice view, needed more trash cans and I felt unsure about cleanliness bc of the hairs I found on the bedNearby activities: Stifel Theatre, bowling alley down the streetSafety: Unsure about the safety- the general feel I had was that it was just empty streets so I didn't feel unsafe. Also worth noting I traveled with my husband so that made me feel safer. As a woman if I traveled alone in this area I probably wouldn't walk alone on the street in the evening/night.Walkability: Walkable to several restaurants and businessesFood & drinks: Their cafe/restaurant was empty and had very limited hours, there were side salads in a grab and go deli fridge that looked like they'd been there a few days too long, and muffins that someone would get if they were staying in the hospital. The coffee ranks as some of the worst I've ever had, and the coffee in the room was a joke as there was no sugar and cream.

It's a beautiful old hotel that has been renovated. It was easy to walk to restaurants and the staff was really nice and helpful.Rooms: The room we had was updated and trendy. Comfy bed and you can stream your shows. The walls are thin but they have ear plugs in the room for you. ?Safety: We did valet parking, which was nice. The hotel itself felt very safe.Walkability: You can easily walk to restaurants. My daughter and I did and felt safe.

I was at a wedding over the NYE weekend <12.31.23> and I am not sure how you decided to serve food that felt and tasted like it was warmed up from Christmas.. it was cold, and tasteless and you should not have a gorgeous venue.. if you are going to serve food that is subparAfter talking to others that attended, its apparent I am not the only oneI hope if anyone is having an event. Especially a wedding. You bring in your own food. The man that was supposed to be incharge was rude and didn't seem like he knew what he was doingPlease avoid if possible. Or have it catered from an outside source. Not even going to talk about the rooms. However, the front end staff were wonderfulTHANKS ~NYE WEDDING GUESTNoteworthy details: Do not eat food that is prepared there. You will regret it

Back in November of 2023, my husband and I booked this hotel. We stayed two total nights. The room was great, a little drafty from the cold weather. The bartender downstairs was the most kind and thoughtful person. The location is what you’d expect being in St.Louis. The second night we stayed, there were gunshots outside our window. Overall, I felt safe though because a key card was required for the elevator and the room door had an extra lock! My experience was great and had a great time. Now however we were told our safety deposit was sent back to us, however when communicating with my bank they have no trail of a release of funds. Therefore the hotel has not provided me with my deposit and lied to me regarding the funds being released. I have emailed the hotel and have not received information back. This has been a month long problem.
