My partner has been there for two months. The only thing he does for addiction and recovery is the required 2 meetings a week which you must walk to. Required to work. 40 hours a week in exchange for food & bed. He gets $5 at end of week. If you need hygiene products, they must be bought from them. No cell phone is allowed which is OK but the community payphone is inoperable and you have no way to make doctors appointments , etc unless you fill out a request form to use the office phone. Also if you need a jacket in the cold weather you need to do the same form. It’s been almost 3 weeks and he has not yet got either. The second week he was there another resident overdosed late at night. No phone to call for help and no more than 1 or 2 “employees” there after 5 or overnight, per 50 or so residents. He has not received any counseling, any help working on recovery, or any rehabilitation. They are strictly a faith based program. If you believe that God can fix your addiction and give you a life of sobriety, then that’s great. But if you believe you need to be taught new behaviors, learn coping skills to prevent relapse, tools to live a life in recovery, then this will not be the right place for you. This program also does not help you when you are finished and go back into regular life as far as getting a car, job which isn’t allowed when you reside there. For $5 a week pay, what can you do with that after you complete the program? You won’t have any income to get housing. Keep in mind this is a 6month program. One day at a time.

Doing the most corrupt. Management is terrible. Pretends to be a Christian program. It is a sweat shop work environment. You work about 40 hours a week and they only give you a few bucks. The staff are disrespectful. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

If you want recovery go else where. This organization disguises itself as a Christian program that helps people. But behind the scenes the only concern is so called "work therapy"and meeting quotas, in return you will receive a few bucks for working 40+ hours a week sorting donations and a bed. Government food stamps provide the meals. A majority of the staff are disrespectful, unprofessional and have no concerns for your recovery. I've witnessed them speak with degrading offensive slander to the program attendees. I do not recommend this place to anyone........Be prepared for the sweat shop trap. You have been warned.

Anyone who complains about the Adult Rehabilitation Center either attended and didn’t like structure and form in their lives paired with the discontentment of being. In other words they weren’t ready to live a normal, sober life. He work the Salvation Army requires is a condition that should be realized as okay because these addicts are getting housing, food, some pay, counseling, support —- all the things needed to induce sobriety. They have lived according to their own will and have gotten nowhere. Their addictions have ruined not only their lives but the lives of their friends, families, employers and probably everyone they have come in contact with.I am addict —- an alcoholic who has accepted the fact that without hard work I won’t remain sober. I suggest quit wining and start working harder. It’s worth it.

Salvation army and rehabilitation program is nothing but a joke. They work the people who are there trying to get themselves together and to start living the sober living / life while working them 8 hrs a day in warehouse without ac, proper ventilation along without having heat. The beneficiarys ( people in the rehabilitation program ) are usually better to meet and conversate than staff or the counselor for the matter. They tend to be GREAT people that have just experienced heatache and hardships and fell into though times who try to get another shot at sobriety, workethic and building some type of foundation to try this thing i call Life again. The staff there is a absolute JoKe and enjoy their 20 smokebreaks a day along with watching youtube and procrastinating to do their jobs rather than actually trying to help the people who NEED it most. Its more of a homeless shelter for board and room, for those people who have no place to stay (homeless folk), they consider this place to stay and to try to work on themselfs, while offering temporary housing, food, and daily chances to hit the showers to have a chance to proper hygiene and shower and shave.I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone including COLLEGE students home for the pendimic experiencing any theartache or looking for a secure place to stay till the pendimic is over and can return back to school.THIS PLACE IS A JOKE, and maybe one or two staff there actually care and DO their job.

Great Program, I’d recommend it to anyone who has lost their way in life due to addiction. They really give you the mental tools and faith in god to live a sober, healthy and happy life!

I've really enjoyed the time I've spent at the St. Louis ARC. It was a great environment, really great people, and a successful operation. Highly recommended.
