I’ve had good luck with Neighbor’s Credit Union for past vehicle loans, so I figured I would reach out to them for our mortgage. I was pleasantly surprised by their rates, low closing costs, and fees. With Interest rates being as brutal as they currently are – every little bit helps. Arik Burns was awesome to deal with, and made it a pretty painless experience.

First of all it's impossible now to actually find a branch that is open and has any staff- so good luck with needing any assistance from a human. Second- if you have any loan with them and fall behind on a payment, better hope you don't have a baby at home to feed because they will freeze your accounts until you pay them current!!! They hold your money hostage. I have never had this problem with a bank. DO NOT JOIN THIS CREDIT UNION!

I put a check on my acct from my 401k and they will not release the funds 1745.00 for 10 business day. I was told 2 business days. I do not recommend this bank at all. You get a different excuse from each person you talk to.

Not sure where to start with this review. I'm still in shock. Several weeks ago we applied for a small loan to purchase a used car. Once we were approved we proceeded to look for a car. It was difficult finding a car for 6000 which is what we asked for so we called back to see if we could get more. We're on a fixed income and the higher amount was denied so we kept looking for a car for around 6000. BTW we checked earlier to see if our loan was still good and was told we had until the 20th to use the loan before having to reapply. Finally the day came. We found a car. It was 900 over the loan amount which we were prepared to pay, however the loan officer stated she would see if she could get the 900 financed. Off we go to pick up our car because at this point we're only waiting for an answer on 900. Much to our surprise we're at the car dealership and get a call that they (Neighbors Credit Union) changed their mind and decided not to give us a loan at all. Shocked doesn't begin to describe my reaction after all the loan was approved 3 weeks now just waiting for us to find a car. We've been with neighbors 30 plus years. You'd think if they changed their mind they had time to tell us before we got to the dealership and sat in front of our salesman. The reason they gave was debt to income ratio. "You have a good score but you debt to income ratio is too high. Aren't you suppose to make that decision during the loan process. Our debt to income ratio had improved since the loan was approved because we had paid on our debt and had no new charges. Neighbors you need to do better.

I called the south county branch on Wednesday of last week to see if I can get a loan since I have been banking with this credit union for a long time. First, I spoke with the branch manager Lisa. She told me about the difference between the auto loan and the miscellaneous/personal loan regarding the interest rates. She suggested I start with the auto loan/refinance first since it's a lower interest rate. She then proceeded to take some information from me that was needed to send to the underwriter. After a few short minutes, the underwriter called to let me know that the loan was denied. I waited a few minutes and called back and spoke to someone named Mary Ann to see if I could get approved for a personal loan since the auto loan didn't go through. She also got some information from me and told me that someone was supposed to call me on Thursday. Have not received a call back as of yet. Today is Monday, still no call back. I have been trying to call them to check the status, but no answer. I truly believe they are dodging me. I'm not going to beg anyone for help, I just want to know if they are going to approve the loan or not. It's not like they are not going to get their money back, I have an account. They can just withdraw it from there. Since they were so quick to call me about the auto loan denial, why couldn't they call me right back for the personal loan as well?

I got a auto loan a year ago and I am still having trouble with their payment system since the beginning. It will not make my autopayments online for more than one month and has caused me to be late on my payments for 6 out of 12 months!!!!!!

I have been a member of Neighbors Credit Union for over a decade. Most of their tellers and service staff have been communicative and helpful, but I'd especially like to thank them for their support when I had a dispute with CVS Pharmacy. They stayed with me through the entire ordeal, which made a stressful situation easier. I appreciate the convenience of their drive-up service, available Monday to Saturday until 7pm. I'm very satisfied with my experience at Neighbors and have always had positive in-person interactions.

I've never had more problems with a car loan. They asked and received, several times for my car insurance to indicate their name on it. I understand that, and my insurance agent did that and sent it to them. They apparently didn't receive it and tacked an $8000 plus insurance policy to my loan. Now when my insurance renewed again, they sent me another letter stating they needed to be on my policy or the would insure me! They already were on the policy.

I'll start by saying that Arik Burns with Neighbors Credit Union actually made the process of buying a home super easy! The whole process was incredibly smooth. From the first time we contacted him, all the way to the deadline, he was diligent, thorough, and explained every thing! Even with my last minute amendments needed, Arik made himself available to execute them in a timely manner. I couldn't be any happier with our home buying experience!

Neighbors Credit Union is absolutely a dreadful credit union to deal with. They said we were constantly behind, we would get caught up and we would contact them regarding our loan, but they said we had to come in by a certain day to change the loan pay date, but when we would do that they said we were behind again. We made several attempts over the last year and a half to change the loan terms but they refused. They would send letters weekly telling us how behind we were and they would send us to collections, but would refuse to work with us regarding our payments. We were finally able to refinance our loan with a different institution on Jan 12. Paperwork was faxed to the loan department on January 13, 2023. Neighbors REFUSED to send the paperwork back. They said it was never received, but after 13 days of no response from Neighbors the credit union we are refinancing with called to tell me Neighbors never sent the paperwork back. Knowing loans are only good for 30 days. After spending over 4 hours between the credit union we are refinancing with and neighbors, someone at neighbors MAGICALLY found our paperwork and sent over the 10-day pay off. I'm so grateful for the credit union we are refinancing with is actually working with us regarding our loan! I would never recommend neighbors credit union to anyone, unless you like being harassed weekly with letters, and calls about your loan you attempted to resolve, but no one was willing to help. Oh also don't attempt to file a BBB complaint, they will just close your complaint and not respond.Don't even get me started on the ridiculous ways you have to jump through to pay your loan. They charge 7 dollars to pay with a credit or debit card.

It seems no matter what branch I go to, Lisa Creed is there smiling and offering water. She is so positive and energetic. It makes my day so much better when I see her. She never has a frown and makes any situation I present to her easy and doable. She's the best!!

Wonderful experience! My lender Arik Burns had great communication, walked me through the whole loan process. He was always available when I had any questions or needed info about anything. Went over paperwork as soon as I sent it in. And offered the BEST RATE ! (Seriously, I applied at 6 different places) I'm so happy to have my 1st home ! I highly recommend Arik Burns and Neighbors Credit Union !

We will never do business with Neighbors Credit Union again. They force placed insurance on my sons vehicle because they only notify you by mail and we had moved, never attempt to call you! Then once we showed proof of insurance for the entire time period they wouldn’t refund the interest they charged us for the higher loan amount. What a scam!!!! Great way to do business, overcharge people for something and only use one method to try and contact you, snail mail!!! Great way to make more money off your customers!!

Everytime I've had to call or visit the location I have either walked away happy or with a better understanding of how certain systems work. I won't say there were never issues or times I was frustrated but when it came down to it all ended well with my first auto Loan with neighbors and when I get the chance I fully intend to explore refinancing my current vehicle with them. Thanks for getting me taken care of, from loans and bank accounts to notary signatures!
