Looking for chocolates and decided to ✔ the reviews. OMG, people wanting Christmas music in the stores, lonely men posting pics, giving job titles, and telling about their travels? This isn't Tinder! To leave and run home to write horrible things says more about you all than her!

I was expecting something like The Candy Factory in Columbia, MO bursting at the seams with candy, decor, etc. Instead it was like walking into a box. The displays looked very clinical and sparse. It was the holiday season but it was uncomfortably quiet...not even a little holiday music. The candy was ok but for the pricing I was expecting something to have the ability to mix and match. Instead, if I wanted something assorted I would've had to buy a prepacked box for over $50. Note: you have to be let into the store by the staff. At one point they had customers trying to get in but no one to buzz them in so I went to open the door for them.

The Chocolate Alone Is Amazing And Then They Add The Caramel And Pecans, Almonds And Cashews That Takes It To The Next Level!!

The candy is great (especially the caramels!), but the service and atmosphere could use some serious work. The store is a bit dreary and empty. The workers can come across as being frustrated with even the simplest orders or questions.I wish they had kept their location near Ballwin open. It had much better customer service.

The chocolates at Merb's are some of the best in St Louis. This is an old time European chocolatier which St Louis is known for. I have been coming here for 20 years. Unfortunately, there was an extremely rude and entitled African-American woman at the counter who gave an ugly face like she couldn't be bothered. An extremely unprofessional, unintelligent and unhappy person. There were no customers and she clearly had nothing to do. When I asked if I could pick out an assortment of chocolates, she barked back "We don't do that here." What chocolatier doesn't do that? This is St Louis! We have been doing this for over a century! I have travelled all over the world and have never experienced this type of passive aggressive entitlement from someone, especially at so fine a shop. Seriously, she must have some mental problems or other things going on in her life. Merb's should fire her immediately. Why does such filth get hired at an old time St Louis establishment? She said she was a retired teacher. I feel so sorry for those kids! I understand if someone is having a bad day or if she is just an unhappy grump, which is most likely the case, but for an old time establishment to hire someone like HER? It's outrageous. I am General Manager of a major hotel in St Louis and I know what customer service looks like. This lady clearly shouldn't be around people. She needs to be taught a lesson. Shame on her.

Worst customer service! Ordered bionic apples, they arrived damaged and one of the apples did not even have a stick in it. Called the owner who said her name was Taylor and she basically called me a liar because Merbs would never send an apple without a stick and that Fedex must've did the damage. Did not offer store credit or to replace them. I even offered to send pictures but the owner did not care. Again the worst customer service ever!!!!

When it comes to a candy store, Merbs is great, everything is always fresh, both stores are always kept nice and clean and nobody beats their Carmel Apples great service too

Fantastic Bionic Apples! It would be really nice if the transportation cost wasn't so high.

Merb's is a St. Louis gem! It's one of those places that have been around for generations and continue to help define STL.We always go on Saturdays and ask for Elise. She is just the kindest soul and extremely helpful! I definitely recommend getting the biontic apple when they are in season, late September to end of October-ish. I am a chocolate lover and Merb's has a ton of it. They are my go-to out of towner gifts. I highly recommend!

I bought my first (and probably only) Bionic apple at Dierbergs yesterday. I am very sad that my $9 apple has nuts that are not fresh (have that sharp, old taste) and the apple had a bad spot that had to be cut off. Caramel was amazing as usual, but like everything else these days, seemed to be less as in the past. I'm very sad.

I haven't patronized Merb's in 10 years due to an employee's rude attitude on my last visit. Fast forward to today, giving them another chance, and nothing has changed. I arrived at 9:30 am, they opened at 9 am…the two females at the front counter were watching me exit my vehicle and then press down on the door lever several times, while staring at me from the front counter. Then I noticed an intercom and pressed the button, then the door was unlocked. Apparently they were assessing whether or not they were going to "allow" me to enter?!?...A customer for 35+ years and grew up in Dutchtown South…traveled 40 miles one way to get there to encounter weird behavior, and the Bionic Apples weren't even prepared yet…although September 5, 2023 (today) was the date listed for their seasonal release✌?

I love heavenly hash, molasses puffs and Chocolate covered strawberries but I'd rather get them elsewhere because the owner is rude and very disrespectful!!! She gives me a little racist vibes too
