This is a very small exhibit. Be sure to bring your ID and leave anything that can be considered a weapon in your vehicle, as they do. Search you and you will go through a metal detector. It has some interesting information, and it is eye opening. I think everyone can learn something here if they want to. A key takeaway is that u s a currency is backed by nothing anymore, the gold standard was removed. At the museum, you can pick up a twenty eight pound genuine gold bar, which is pretty neat. It also has five hundred one thousand and ten thousand dollar bills on display. I wish they would bring back the thousand dollar bill, It's just cool. The fed chairman is appointed by the president, so if he doesn't keep the president happy, he loses his job. Both political parties have kept the same fed chairman in office for a long time. The fed chairman has pushed for low interest rates. These long term low interest rates are why we people are suffering from high inflation. High inflation is why houses cost so much, cars cost so much food clothing, utilities are all expensive. We need political candidates, especially the president, who wants to reduce inflation. The problem most people would not vote for that president. Therefore the inflation will continue.

I've lived in St. Louis my entire life and never heard of the Economy Museum. The best part? It's free! We paid for parking in advance using a parking app called SpotHero. There are many garages downtown where you can reserve a spot. We reserved a spot for $8. Inside, we learned a lot about the economy, then and now, including how heavy a vault door is and how heavy a gold bar is when trying to lift it! There were so many interesting tidbits about history, and it was really cool to learn about it. At the end, kids get a bag of shredded money, and you can see a huge map of where everyone visited from. No one had visited from our area in St. Louis, so we were able to put the first sticker down! So cool. If you can visit, do it – it's a blast!

You’d be very surprised! This was very interactive and a lot of fun. I got dragged her by my spouse who’s in the banking industry but I had a lot of fun and learned a few things too! There were a couple of interactive displays that I had to be dragged away from because I’m easily amused. Definitely a great place to bring your kids and even teenagers to entertain them for an hour or two. And they’ll learn something about money!

This was a pleasant surprise. The museum is small but has a lot of content. I spent several hours there. The information is current and the interactive video screens were all working. This is a good educational place on how supply and demand drives the economy. Good info on currency as well. I would recommend this to any 7th or 8th grader to adult.

If you have 30 minutes or an hour to kill, take advantage of the free Economy Museum in St. Louis. It has interesting displays of currency and did I also mention IT'S FREE? Be prepared to show a current id for entry. You also get a FREE SOUVENIR of shredded money at the end of the tour. I'm sure you'll learn something, even if you are a PhD level Economist!

Interesting in learning about the economy and getting paid to do it? Visit the Inside the Economy Museum. Located in the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, you learn as you explore several zones. Decisions. Interactions. Connections. Each choice we make impacts not only our individual financial health, but affects others in our local and globally interconnected economy. The movie about corn was a great example of this interconnection. Lots of fun interactive exhibits. Try to pick up a 28 pound gold bar. It is much heavier than it looks. Play an oversized economy game of Jenga. Learn about the impact of baseball greats like Satchell Paige and Jackie Robinson in Play Ball! Get paid at the end with real money. Of course it's shredded, but still a fun souvenir from a trip to the Economy Museum. Note: ID and a security screen required for admission. The museum is open Monday to Friday from 9-3.

Okay... I know, you're thinking, seriously, can the Economy Museum even be a place worth visiting? The answer is, YES!I LOVED it. My girls said it's because I'm an Econ/Finance girl, but come on, that's not true, this place is for everyone! It it well laid out, just big enough to give you an amazing foundation, easy to understand displays and interactive modules, but not so much you leave feeling weighed down by the market and the money. We spent about 1.5 hours here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Teaching finance, economics, the market, currency, etc. can be daunting and boring, but they have managed to make it fun and engaging!WELL worth a visit, and it's free! Come on! STL is the capital of free things to do with the family, and this museum doesn't disappoint.Don't forget to bring your DL to get past the security checkpoint, though.

Small museum that teaches you about the economy. A few hands in games that kids would like, such as trying to spot the counterfeit dollar. You have the opportunity to lift a gold bar! Stop at the gift shop and you can take a free bag of shredded money.*** Be sure to bring in your license. You need it for entry.

I love this place! I use so much of their educational material in my classroom - it was fun to play "A Market in Wheat".
