I went on Saturday to adopt a cat. There were many people in line ahead of me, which is to be expected when going on a Saturday, and many people after me. The staff was incredibly sweet and friendly. I never felt rushed or pressured into making a decision and ended up going home with the absolute love of my life. I am so grateful to the workers and the volunteers for what they do and how helpful they truly are. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this center for anyone looking for an animal. Fur-ever grateful for this center ?

One star only because of the verity of animals but a negative 5 stars of how staff treat the possible customers. A volunteer yelled at my 1.5 year old autistic son because he was walking around and then tried to verify it by saying that he didn’t have shoes on. Now any parent of an autistic child will tell you shoes are a no go for kiddos on the autism spectrum! I carry disinfectant wipes in my vehicle because of that. REGARDLESS NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO EVER SCREAM AT ANY CHILD YOURS OR NOT!!! I will not be back nor will I recommend anyone to them for the way that the entire situation was handled! VERY VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND VERY VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Went to surrender a dog thinking I was doing the right thing a few days later the animal cruelty task force was at my door saying I abused my dog I surrendered but I told the front desk agent the dog was sick and I couldn’t afford to take care of her I guess since I was a black woman surrendering a poor helpless animal I surely must’ve been abusing it

If I could give this place zero stars, I would because they are truly horrible. I had been visiting the Macklind location for a week for a puppy named Ace. I brought my husband in to make sure he was the one we wanted. We both spoke with the staff on multiple occasions and was advised that he only needed to be neutered and then we could adopt him the next day after the surgery was performed. We arrived the following day and placed our application in for the meet and greet. We saw the dog outside on a walk while waiting and hearts just dropped. When our buzzer went off we went inside to see him. A lady came and said you can meet him but he is unavailable. My husband and I immediately began to question this because we did everything we were told. We checked the website daily and in person and we signed up for the breed alerts. An employee informed us they no matter when he gets completely medically cleared he could not go with us because he was being held for a volunteer. I had to go outside to my car to cry because I was just devastated. The operations manager spoke with my husband and she is a joke and basically showed no signs of empathy for us or acknowledgement of them breaking their own rules of not holding animals. She basically tried to talk him out of wanting the dog and kept coming up with reasons why he wouldn't be a good dog for us. They need better communication and policies. Because we never would have gotten attached to him if they would have been honest. They keep the desirable breeds for staff and volunteers and they try to pawn all of the pit bulls off on the public. This place is completely awful. Definitely ruined my first experience of attempting to adopt an animal.

I just wanted to thank you all for allowing us to adopt such amazing dogs. We adopted Faye in 2012 and Winston (previously Augusten) in 2013. They made our lives so wonderful and brought so much happiness to our family. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to both of them in the past year and it has been so hard. I'm so grateful that we adopted them and have so many precious memories. We will be back in the future.

I am very disappointed… I came to the city location yesterday to get a kitten… I was there for almost 2 hours and never got to do a meet and greet… I then noticed people who came in after me leaving with animals or in meet and greet rooms but no one still had reached out to me… I went up to the desk and they kept telling me I was next, but that never came… Finally two hours later, I was told there were no friendly, loving kittens left…the remaining few kittens we all temperamental. I was there for two hours, never got to meet a kitten and left empty-handed. I drove a long ways to come and never got the opportunity to adopt. Total bummer!
