They lie about prices - quote you one thing then change it after they have your furniture - tell you it will take 7-10 days but you end up waiting 3 and a half weeks - furniture arrives broken and Muslim employees will pray in your front lawn and will refuse to take packaging material they used to wrap your furniture - AVOID AT ALL COSTS - company has been reported to BBB

Then they make you pay last payment in Cash much higher then original contract or they won't deliver hoping you can't pay so they can keep (steal) your goods. I am reporting them to whoever I can Gov, attorney General Pilice.

Gateway moving & relocation would get a Negative rating as Gateway is a fraud, they will tell you anything to get you to accept their bid. If you know anyone moving anywhere DO NOT USE GATEWAY. I moved from Costa Rica to California, USA. Gateway broke the contract with me as soon as they could. Alvaro Gago, the General Manager for Gateway moving & relocation in Costa Rica, came out to talk to me about my choosing Gateway as it was the highest bid and he wanted to see if he could do something to get me to sign with Gateway. I told him Gateway was way high and I needed Door to Door delivery to my new address in California. And I needed to pay by CREDIT CARD. And because of the uncertain date of my new apartment being available I needed free STORAGE. Alvaro Gago came and agreed to my needs. Had a new contract drawn up. The new contract had the delivery to my new address and a lot of their other contract details were not on the contract. On the top of the contract was written the days to destination, to be delivered directly to me, and that there would be 20 DAYS FREE STORAGE in Miami, Fl. Alvaro and I signed right under these written terms and on the last page. In Alvaro Gago's conversation with me on Whatsapp, he told me twice right before signing the contract that they would deliver my shipment in side the door of my new address in California and that I would at that time pay by CREDIT CARD. Gateway came late to pack my items on Sept. 5, 2019. I had 3 other people there to help pack what was not already packed. Yet they insist that they packed it ALL. It is now Oct. 22, 2019 and I have not received my shipment. Have asking 6 times for them to send me a BILL OF LADING, and the signed contract they have NEVER sent them. I have the signed contract and at the time of signing ask Alvaro Gago if he would like me to copy it for him. He said no, that he had take a picture of it. They still have not provided even that picture. Gateway is saying that they have my shipment in storage in Miami, FL since Oct.10th and are charging me $350.00 to the end of October and $350.00 for each month of storage afterwards. Since I don't have a Bill of Lading who can tell if my items even got to Miami, FL. Since they don't have my signature on a contract, they do not have my approval to have my items. They also want a cash transfer from my bank to theirs. Something I would never do and can not do. Gateway has also called telling me to STOP using Social Media and they would take my items back and I would have to come to Costa Rica and get them. This is only some of the things that have happened. PLEASE, PLEASE IF YOU KNOW ANYONE MOVING to or from anywhere DO NOT USE GATEWAY MOVING & RELOCATION.

They don't even deserve 1 star. My 71 year old Father, a Disabled Veteran and 68 year old Mom recently moved from Michigan to South Carolina. In an effort to relieve stress they reluctantly chose to hire a moving company. That decision has resulted in more stress, frustration worry, and financial expense. After much deliberation and reassurance from the company that everything would go smoothly, they hired Gateway-National Express. After a contract was signed, inventory list complied and a moving date was set things immediately went down hill. Moving day was scheduled for the 7th and it wasn’t until my parents sat around all day surrounded by boxes that they were eventually told that the movers would not arrive until the 8th at noon. That was followed up by a call stating they would be arriving more like 2:30. Moments after arriving, the movers tried altering the contract suggesting that my parents go by volume verses weight. That caused my Mom yet more stress and to question her decision-although she was assured that she did indeed have a contract and the movers had to honor it. After asking if the movers would be driving straight through to South Carolina, we were told “I’m just the pick up guy.”. Evidently the “pick up guy” picks up the furniture and then takes it to Detroit, where it sits until they (whoever they are) chooses to then drive the load to South Carolina. It is now a full week after the initial move day, with no communication from the moving company. My Mom called the Moving Company, they told her to call the trucking company. My Mom mentioned the original 3 to 5 day quote and the girl she spoke to told her it would be 30 days! Then evidently mentioned based on distance may be 10 to 12 business days! Following by stating these two absurd amounts of time, definitely not explained to my parents or ago agreed upon (not sure who would agree to that), the girl hung up on my Mom. Complaints regarding this company are legitimate. This decision has resulted in nothing but additional stress. Now my parents are in there new home, a week now with absolutely nothing but the overnight bag they packed for drive to South Carolina. They have no idea where their life’s possessions are and when they will see them. And to top it off when the items finally do arrive they will be expected to pay the balance due.

If you don't read any more of this review, take your money elsewhere and use an honest moving company. Gateway was a SCAM from the beginning. One of their "sales" associates, TYSH gave me a call one day for a moving quote from Ohio to Oklahoma. Come to find out everything out of her mouth was a lie and she only cared about her commission bonus. She even had the nerve to call me on MEMORIAL DAY and asked why I hadn't submitted my down payment for the move so that she can receive her bonus LOL. Amazing that someone like this even has a job to begin with. So she gave us a quote, promised it would be there in 3-5 days since it was "peak moving season" then after we agreed to this, we were handed over to their dispatch team and never heard anything helpful from her again. After the contract was signed, they changed the original delivery window to 30 DAYS, not the original 3-5 day window given by TYSH. Long story short, we did not get our belongings in 3-5 business days, it took over ONE MONTH to get to our destination. During this time, when you call their customer service number, you interact with DELILAH (absolutely terrible), MARCUS and BENJAMIN, just to name a few. They are never apologetic and choose to talk over you when you're trying to speak. It's amazing that a business like this even exists. Arrogant, lying and prideful employees who are working for a scam of a company. Life is too short to work with people like this. Do yourself a favor use anyone else for your next move.

Da: 7/15/19 To: Anyone who needs assistance with moving household items Re: Gateway Moving & Storage Hi Everyone, If you are moving and need to hire a moving company, PLEASE STOP what you are doing and give us your UNDIVIDED ATTENTION. There are many companies to choose from and we cannot tell you about them but stop and run the other way if you are considering Gateway Moving & Storage. Gateway picked up our household items on 6/1/19 and promised to deliver our goods on 6/6, 6/7 or 6/8. Gateway did not honor their commitment. Then we were told they "had" to delivery by 6/20, according to the contract - no call, no show for the entire week. Guess what??? They just dropped it off yesterday (7/14/19) and charged us an additional $1300 for a "bogus" 2 days of storage because they said, "we were not available to accept it". Mind you... we gave them our schedule because work schedule have us unavailable on certain days. So, in order to justify the extra $1300, they "supposedly" attempted delivery on days they knew we would not be home. And, if you don't pay the extra bogus fees, they hold your possession, hostage. Our mistake was that we did not check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) which gave them a "F" rating. The horror stories are plentiful but the worst part of all is that they can get away with extortion. None of the entities below, could nor would do anything to stop these thieves. In fact, we were told by the operations manager, Sean, what was going to happen and there was nothing we could do about it. He was bold enough to put it in writing. This tells me they have done this many, many, many times. 1. We wrote the CEO, "supposedly" Kevin, an email and did not hear back from him or anyone else addressing our concerns. 2. Our credit card company disputed the initial 1/3 payment which was eventually returned to them. 3. We filed a police report and an insurance claim with a 3rd party carrier and there was nothing they can do. 4. We contacted the DOT (Dept of Transportation) and they took our report over the phone. 5. We contacted the BBB and filed a report, online. On July 14, 2019, the movers arrived over 4 hours late and had the nerve to ask for another $450 because we have stairs (2nd floor). After they were told (in a not too nice way) to return our money and get the hell out of our house or we'd call the police, they proceeded to unload the truck and carry the heaviest items up the stairs. Still...they did an incomplete job. Some of our items were broke, bruised and missing. They operate within a culture of lies and deceptive practices... including Tony James, Sara Johnson, Jeremy (Dispatch Manager), John Chavez (Regional Dispatch Manager), the delivery guys and anybody else you talk to. Run, run, run the other way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We hope this helps someone else out there.

Stay away form these people. They are TERRIBLE! Here is what happened with my moving experience: I contracted Gateway to move the contents of an apartment from Ohio to Kansas. The estimate was for 726 cubic ft of goods at a cost of $2,998. When the movers came on Dec. 19 (2 days late), they ARRIVED AT 10:30 AT NIGHT.Moreover, they didn't have the necessary boxes and had to go to ******* to buy some. At 2:30 a.m. they had loaded about 80% of the apartment’s contents, and the driver told me that he still had about 100 cubic feet of space left of the estimated 726. Since I had a 7:30 a.m. flight, I had to leave the apartment and go to my motel before all the loading was completed. The driver said this was fine and didn't provide me with any paperwork about possible additional charges. The next day I received a text saying that the load had supposedly come to 1320 cf and that I would be charged an additional $2250. When I called Gateway to express my surprise, a dispatcher told me he could reduce my final delivery charge by $504. When the movers arrived in Jan. 2019 to deliver the goods to a 10’ X 10’ X 14’ storage unit, I was required to pay the remaining $2994 of the bill in advance of any unloading. After that work was complete, I measured the space the goods occupied in the storage unit. It came to slightly under 790 cubic feet. Hence, Gateway had overcharged me by 530 cubic feet or $1745. On Feb. 2, I filed a claim with Gateway for the overcharges, providing substantial documentation, including photos to verify how much space the goods in the unit took up. Gateway informed me that processing my claim could take up to 120 days. After hearing nothing for 4 months, I called the company on June 19 and was flatly told that my claim was being denied. When I asked why, the person (named Marley) said that I would have to prove that the household goods filled a unit of 900 cubic feet or less. When I asked how he expected me to do that, he gave no answer. When I told him I was very upset at his decision and I would file a complaint with Better Business Bureau he said, “Okay,” laughed and eventually hung up.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. A complete nightmare of a company. Their entire business model is to low ball quotes and scam people into paying thousands of dollars more. Despite providing detailed measurements of our inventory, we were told that our original quote was wrong and suddenly it was going to cost us $4500 (instead of the original $2700). They outsource all pick-ups and deliveries. The "crew" that delivered our items was two men, one of which was stoned out of his mind, so my fiancé ended up helping them. They lost two massive glass panels for our coffee table that are worth hundreds of dollars and we were told today that we will be reimbursed $24 for the lost item. A sick joke honestly.

Stay away from these people. They are terrible--a real "SCAM company" as another reviewer says. Here's the gist of what happened with my move: I contracted Gateway to move the contents of an apartment from Ohio to Kansas. The estimate was for 726 cubic ft of goods at a cost of $2,998. When the movers came on Dec. 19 (2 days late), they ARRIVED AT 10:30 AT NIGHT. Also, they did not have proper packing materials and had to go to Walmart to buy boxes. At 2:30 a.m. they had loaded about 80% of the apartment's contents, and the driver told me that he still had about 100 cubic feet of space left of the estimated 726. Since I had a 7:30 a.m. flight, I had to leave the apartment to get a few hours of sleep before all the loading and final confirmation of space were completed. The driver said that was okay. The next day I received a text saying that the load had supposedly come to 1320 cubic feet and that I would be charged an additional $2250. Since I had paid $1049 as a down payment and $974.50 at pick up before the men stated loading the truck, I was told that I would now have to pay $3499 at delivery. When the movers arrived in January to deliver the goods to a 10' X 10' X 14' storage unit, I was required to pay the remaining delivery charge in advance of any unloading. After that work was completed, I measured the space the goods occupied in the storage unit. It came to slightly under 790 cubic feet. Hence, Gateway had overcharged me by 530 cubic feet or (at $4.25 per cubic foot) $1745. As a result, I filed a claim with Gateway for the overcharges, providing substantial documentation, including photos to verify how much space the goods in the unit took up. Gateway informed me that processing my claim could take up to 120 days. After hearing nothing for 4 months, I called the company in June and was flatly told that my claim was being denied. When I asked why, the person said that I would have to prove that the household goods filled a unit of 800 cubic feet or less. When I asked how he expected me to do that, he gave no answer. Do not use this mover! They took 25 days to move from Chicago to north Georgia. I had to stay at hotels for over 3 weeks and spent about $3000 for accommodation. They also charged much more than the estimate. I moved from very small 1-bed apartment, I lived by myself, I didn't have too many stuff. The moving cost was about $2700. So I spent $5700 at total. I never ever recommend to use this mover unless you like to spend money for shitty service. Besides that, they broke my shoe rack and damaged my furniture.

We obtained a quote from Manny Lopez from Allstates Moving and Storage for our move from Austin, Texas to Missouri. They gave me a quote of $5,000. Which actually ended up to be $8,000 after they loaded it. We told Manny (Sales Rep) that we had a furnished 2 bedroom 1700 sqft townhouse to move. It was supposed to be a "White Glove Move". We were never told of additional insurance availability. He also guaranteed us that we would have our furniture delivered within 10 days. Every piece of our furniture was purchased brand new within the last 3 or 4 months. High End heavy furniture. They packed up our townhome on Apr 12, 2019. It was not delivered until April 27, 2019. The delivery driver told us that if we were not home on that day, then our furniture would continue on to Chicago, and he didn't know when we would get it. We had to cancel our trip to accommodate the delivery. It was delivered in a large Mayflower semi. They could barely get the huge rig in the residential streets, The driver then told us because it had to be parked out on the street that they would not bring in our furniture until I paid him an additional $140 because of the distance and steps. He wanted this in "Cash". I told him I would not pay him in cash, but instead I wrote a check. Once our items were in the house, we noticed none of the boxes were labeled to even which room they had came out of, or any detailed list as to what was in these huge boxes. Then once the items were all in the house, we took inventory of the items they delivered. Our brand new $3,500 Master bdrm bed was missing. Also, every single piece of furniture they delivered was either scarred, busted, gouged, scratched, or even missing. I asked the driver about this. He simply repeated over and over to file a claim, and would say no more. Once he left we took deeper inventory. Oil canvas paintings were packed in between metal tv wall mounts. Heavy objects were packed on top of fragile lamps. Total amount of damage/missing items is $17,284.34. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY OR ALLSTATES MOVING AND STORAGE out of Chicago, IL!!!! We have reported them both to the BBB and the FMCSA. It's been a week and still no response..these two companies have absolutely idea who they've screwed with, but they're in the process of finding out!
