Beautiful Victorian home museum with many original furniture and decor pieces - after the last of the Campbells passed away, it was almost immediately preserved as a museum, so it is largely untouched besides restoration. The restorers went so far as to sand down to the original plaster and send samples to a laboratory -- meaning they have the original design and pigments for many of the walls in the family's living spaces. Incredibly well preserved.

Andy was a wonderful tour guide for our group and involved our antsy 6yo son by letting him do a few things throughout the home. We saw an advertisement for the Famous Barr Christmas exhibit and didn't realize this was mostly a full tour of the house when we came, but learned a lot of history and got to see the beautiful home. With that being said, the store exhibit was fairly lackluster and very disappointing compared to it's ad - it was mostly just a slideshow of pictures from year's past with only a few items in small glass displays.

The tour was terrific and I learned a lot. Everything is very well-preserved and they have so much furniture and decor that is original to the house.

Such a unique place to visit if you’re in the area. Definitely a hidden gem of St. Louis. The tour guides are great- we had Samuel Monroe and he was so thorough and knowledgeable about everything! They also have the cutest little gift shop. Worth the visit if you’re in the area!

Update on 2023/09/22: Museum says that they sent the email before replying my review. However, I didn't receive any email so far. I checked my spam box but I still didn't see any. Please confirm you sent to the right email address. The house itself is beautiful and amazing, it definitely worth the time for a walk. However, this is the worst tour ever in my life time.We went there in the afternoon, the tour guide we had today is not doing his job. He is disrespectful, during the tour he is making phone calls or trying to find other workers in the museum. In my opinion, as a tour guide you should focus on your visitors unless some emergency happened.Every room we went he is just saying: oh, here is the kitchen of the house, and here is the bedroom. Of course we know is a kitchen, and bedroom! We have EYES! you should be telling us the story behind the scenes or the history or culture we should learn. However, the worse part came after he finally found someone to talk to in the museum. They asked us where we come from and said that we are all Chinese. Not every Asian is Chinese! We feel depressed and uncomfortable with the conversation. We wouldn't come back again since they don't think we understand any English and know how to appreciate the American culture.

Wow. Compare the photos of the Campbell house and the Scott Joplin house then visit each. Worlds apart. That being said, the Campbell house is an excellent representation of how the upper class lived in that era, and I was impressed with how well the house and contents have been maintained over the years. Kudos to the Campbell House Foundation for protecting this place and promoting its legacy.

We had two families, eight people total. I can’t write about the museum because we never got in. There was nowhere to park. -and we were not paying for parking when they have a parking lot right there.Anyway, it looks like guests from the hotel are parking in this parking lot! When we pulled in there were two cars that people were getting out of and they walked right over to the hotel. Not cool.

Amazing history! And I believe a spirit popped in to say hello. A cabinet door opened while we were talking in the cook's room . . .
