Mark makes you feel not just like a customer but also a friend. He is an expert of his field and one can learn so much from his knowledge of the jewelry business. I had great experience with my consignment.

Bartel Jewelers was my fiance's jeweler of choice for my engagement ring. After a lot of research, and with a specific design in mind, he went to Mark with a vision for my ring, and Mark went above and beyond to make this ring come true! Mark only uses GIA Certified Diamonds, and actually worked for GIA asan instructor on grading diamonds. My fiance did a superb job, surprising me with the most beautiful engagement ring, that I know is the top quality! Later in the year, he bought a beautiful blue topaz necklace that he designed at Bartel's for me, and it was a sight to behold! We are now designing our wedding bands with Mark, and are excited to work with him for all of our future jewelry needs!

I went to Bartel's to sell some rings and found a treasure! This is a really interesting shop with many varied pieces - they are also listed as Bartel's Galleries. Small shop with a lot to offer! They are so nice and gave me a more than fair price for my rings!

Years ago, I purchased an engagement ring from Mark, and was very happy with the results. He took time to investigate my options, and customized a ring to fit what I knew my finance wanted. Since then, I have recommended family and friends to Bartels!

I was referred to Bartel's recently by another jeweler in town for a wedding ring that I was interested in consigning or selling. The Father/son team was very knowledgeable and patient in explaining the benefit of both selling my ring outright or consigning the item. They both helped me to make an informed decision with the best possible benefit to me. I compared my options with other establishments and Bartel's by far was the most willing to meet my needs and to take care of me with superior service and attention. Thank you!

Fabulous! The owners are great, the prices are amazing and the quality of the pieces is superb! You can't go wrong visiting this store for any of your jewelry purchasing or alternation needs. Worth dropping in for a visit just to be amazed.

Michael Light, owner of Bartel's, stole several pieces of my jewelry that were placed on consignment! Law suit filed. Michael Light deviously hid damage he did to other collectables left on consignment! Beware when you do business with this man. Make sure when you leave you take your merchandise or full payment for what you have given him.

I'm glad that I get to be the first re review, as I'm a HUGE fan of this place. Also listed as Bartel's Gallery in the phone book, this is a quaint family owned Jewelry and Antique shop in Frontenac on the other side of Clayton from the main plaza, in Le Chateau village. The owner's son Mark is the main contact at the site, and he's fantastic to work with. There is no pressure, and no question too stupid, which is a big deal for being a young person that knows NOTHING about jewelry. I went in on the referral of a friend to look at buying my engagement ring, and was instantly greeted with a no pressure sales attitude. A few Logistics notes for you: 1.) It's primarily an antique shop with antique (very unique) jewelry throughout the shop. It's not your standard 15 glass lit case store with a bajillion options. 2.) While Mark and his store have GREAT options, it's more of a "I've got an idea, now go make it or find it" kind of shop. I would suggest getting ideas elsewhere if you have a specific piece, and then take it to him and he'll make it better. 3.) I wouldn't call this a buy same day you shop location, definitely give yourself some time to look. Mark is a great guy, instantly understanding how important jewelry purchases can be. He doesn't expect anything out of his customers, and it always up front and honest about quality of his own pieces as well as some industry knowledge of other main stream and local shops I will buy all my jewelry from Mark. My wife loved her custom engagement and wedding ring, and everytime we go in she sees something else (go figure) she wants. If you're looking for specific items in the antique line Mark will either have it or find it for you through his extensive contacts. Be sure to go in and see him. Hours are Monday - Friday during normal business times. If he's not in when you get there he'll be back soon usually bringing back some great new items. I've been made a fan of small boutique jewelers as opposed to those Sam's Club locations like Shane Co. and Jared. One stop in and you'll think the same thing.
