With over 300000 in unpaid rent clearly the business was mismanaged for a long time. For them to suddenly raise prices not only punishes the customer but also is means of avoiding accountability for their mishap. They had a new CEO step in and the GM of the STL location quit abruptly. This place is under fire. I'm waiting for this business to fail so a different company will take over.
There is no dog park in the city that matches the size or popularity. The demand is there and bar k has generated more buzz. However bar k is too anti consumer and they suck at running a business.

UPDATE as of 9/17/24. They more than DOUBLED annual prices from $250 to $500/600 because they didn't pay their rent. BOYCOTT BAR K.
As someone who has been going to dog parks around the country, I'm very surprised with the amount of positive reviews about Bar K. Now, it's not awful. I do like that there is a bar/restaurant, and different equipment for dogs to do. The facility staff do you take pride in what they're doing, but it's not as amazing as many say.
So here is what I perceive as negative.
1) Price. After moving back to St. Louis, I was surprised to see that most dog parks in the city cost. I understand from a certain point, so that's okay, but Bar K charges quite a bit. It wouldn't be as bad if they would provide members more incentives. For example, a discount at the restaurant and bar seems appropriate, but other than mediocre daily deals, there are no member discounts. Restaurant and drinks are overpriced.
2) Dogtenders and community. As stated, I've been going to dog parks for a long time. I know the proper etiquette and how dogs play. People here, however, overreact. When dogs start to wrestle, the Dogtenders (staff) and owners think they are fighting. They aren't. Many don't know how dogs play, and assume that wrestling is dangerous. It's overbearing and comes off as "helicopter parents". Moreover, A lot of owners do not clean up after their dog. Some staff are nice, but most I've come across have been pretty rude and snobby.
3) Space. I'm not the biggest fan of astroturf. There is no natural grass, a few trees, and little shade during the hot, sunny days. The space itself is not as large as one would think. There isn't a ton of room to run around, with too many concrete paths. And please stop playing horrible pop music. I have yet heard any good music at this place. It's overbearing and non relaxing.
It's a fine place, but improvements could be made. I'm not on board with everybody in these reviews. Please answer members more discounts, since they are already paying a hefty fee. Let dogs play more. I have seen dogtenders literally scream at other dogs for just playing. And stop with "boring wedding pop music."

Visited St. Louis for a few days, and ended up going to BarK multiple times. The staff is extremely friendly, and food was also very good. It’s a fun place whether you bring your dogs, or just go hang out.

Nice place for dogs, but our food server was stoned out of his mind and was in a trance the entire time and barely came by our table, instead he was drinking coffee and hanging out with other staff members. Half the menu items are unavailable and he verbally attacked us for a lousy tip (tips are a reward for great service, not mandatory. Use this as a learning experience for offering lousy service). I also noticed increased email spam after giving them all my information just to enter. Great concept; however, this place has a lot to learn. Won't be back. *Updating my review from 6 months ago to let people know this place is still trash.

A great place to grab a drink with a friend and let your dogs do their thing. The dog tenders do a great job of watching out for potential conflicts with the dogs and keep the place as clean as they can (despite people not picking up their own dog’s poop.) The monthly membership is a bit steep at $41 after tax, but the yearly is almost half the price (monthly) so it’s not too bad, plus you get rewards points for every purchase so that gives back a bit. My dog loves it and is always nice and tired when we leave.

I’ve taken my dog to bar k a few times and this place is great! I have a small dog so the enclosed area is perfect.

Such an awesome place for the four-leggers! For the parents, they offer really good food, many choices, and solid cocktails! A very fun time and the staff is very attentive!

It's a nice place to take my dog. But their restaurant staff leaves much to be desired. Weather the restaurant is slow or busy. It takes a server anywhere between 40mins to over an hour to come to our table and get us menus. The bar isn't much better. I've watched the staff sit down and talk to one another long before actually coming to our tables.
