The gym is really nice but they complain about my son going passed 8 when he is 17 and I allow him to go so they suspend my card for after hours. Mostly the white haired old lady that works there seems to cry about just anything. Good gym but old staff members never get off your neck.

Really good for being there for a while. Wish that the indoor walk/run track was bigger. Very good showers.

Gym is great, people are great, equipment is great. However, I hope you don’t have to deal with the white haired front desk receptionist Debbie at any given moment your inside this gym. She’ll breath down your neck, follow you around and borderline harass you when you’re simply just trying to work out. Makes up rules that I’ve never heard of for the 8+ years I’ve been coming here. The other employees say they don’t like her, and every gym-goer here I hear talk about her has nothing to say besides how they can’t ever get her off their back as if us customers are always up to something scandalous. you could be somebody whose being doing the same routine with this place for years and she’ll quickly try to come up with a rule on why she thinks anything is wrong, as if she runs the place. YMCA of st joe, for your reputation, we’d all love to experience a much more welcoming second home with Debbie not trying to make us want to leave. Great place besides that ☺️

The YMCA provides a summer camp program for kids to attend. I was very excited for my 7 year old to attend this year. That excitement was diminished after SEVERAL instances. Not only do they not pay any attention to the children there, but they made kids clean bathrooms (no PPE provided and using harsh chemicals) at the college as punishment. They promised fun activities/field trips and he's not gotten to do anything due to other kids acting out, everyone is punished. One day I picked up my child and he was sitting in the hallway, by himself, crying with a terrible headache from lunch time to when he was picked up 3 hours later. I was not contacted at all that he wasn't feeling well and in pain. Yesterday I did receive a phone call that he was "accidently" hit, but had no more information for me because no one was around to watch them. He was hit in the mouth, which caused his tooth to be knocked so loose that it was barely hanging there. He had blood on his face, so no one even bothered to clean him up, get an ice pack for swelling, and didn't punish the kid that hit him on purpose. DO NOT send your child here during the summer. Worst decision I've made. Pulled him from camp 3 weeks early because I couldn't stomach him going even one more day. And as a single, working mother it's very hard to find another option for him so last minute. Again, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THE SUMMER CAMP AT THE YMCA!!

We just went to the park outside and it was awesome for the kids to play. Super clean and enclosed. Great for smaller and larger kids to play and run around. They have a zip line that son loved and the swings were my daughters favorite.

Love the gym, the grounds, the progrs, and all the supporting facilities. Guys - now that the midtown Y is gone, we need a large, indoor pool in the north end. Swimming is so much easier on elderly jpints.

One of the best gyms in the town, but I really miss the one that was in the downtown with a big pool and basketball courts ?.

I love the classes from water aerobics to Pilates, spin or classic fitness. The y is a place I am comfortable going and taking my entire family with me. I tend to spend more of my time at the north one but have been to both for sure. My daughter was able to join the water aerobics after a car accident as part of her rehab and she loved hanging out with the older generation. My sons and husband hit the work out equipment frequently. To me it’s the difference of feeling part of a family rather then a gym member only. I enjoy chatting with the staff and they all seem to be very friendly.

Love this gym! Was a member for years when it first opened, then I moved out of state. I always get a guest pass when I come back to saint joseph for the holidays.
