As far as "discount" retailers go, what a RIPOFF! I paid about the same as I would at Walmart (maybe a bit more), tbh. I'll be generous and give it a few stars, tho, mainly because it wasn't very-busy when I went, and the staff were nice. That's about all it has going for it, though, in all honesty :/If anything, many of the reviews touting 'how cheap' it is are probably horribly out of date. Like... compared to WHAT?? Schnucks and its atrocious pricing? Walgreens? come on..A combination of probably recent inflation and it being owned by Kroger likely help explain why this is a bunch of 'nothing', to be quite honest. Don't waste your time or money. If you want 'true' discount grocers, go to Dollar Tree (or Aldi, maybe). Ruler is little more than a silly 'Aldi wannabe', it seems. Ruler, as a "discount" retailer, is about the only way Kroger can attempt to "muscle its way back into" the Missouri grocery market, especially after they tried and failed to get their regular stores to last long here many years ago.I honestly don't get all of the positive reviews, price-wise! What are you comparing these silly- at best, average- prices to? Do you make a lot of money so 'can afford' to burn through more cash? ...weird

Lack of integrity and professionalism from the Store and Area manager. There's a reason why they are constantly burning through managers and corporate should have addressed this long ago.

They have good prices on food. The cashiers are helpful when you check out. It's nice they are near where I live.

Just dealt with the most rude cashier I've ever encountered.A bit shaken honestly, and It'll probably be It for me at Ruler :(

I’m only giving 5 stars for Yvonne C.; she’s amazing, personable, and friendly, unlike every other person that works there. I’ve been shopping at the Ruler’s on West Clay for the past 1 1/2 years and the turnover is really quick, but I must give a GLOWING review for YVONNE C. She’s amazing, I couldn’t find the cranberry sauce I was looking for and she took the extra time to find out if they had it in stock! YVONNE IS THE BEST! Yvonne’s the best, did I mention that, but seriously, she’s wonderful!

This is the place I usually shop for all of our food needs. However, it has gone downhill a bit recently. You have to watch when your items are being rang up because they WILL scan items multiple times or scan the original barcode on discounted barcode items. This seems to be happening everytime I shop here recently. They have a cart filled with discounted sunflower seeds. I grabbed two of the sunflower seeds marked down to $1.47 from $2.87. The cashier accidentally scanned the original barcode which caused the item to ring up at the regular price of $2.87. She then paused with a confused look on her face and instead of voiding the item, she scanned the discounted barcode which rang up again for the same item at the discounted rate of $1.47. So I now have 3 charges for the two discounted items. When trying to explain that I was charged 3 times for 2 items, two at the discounted rate and one at actual retail, the cashier told me this isn't possible. She called the manager. After explaining to her several times, she told me she was going to give me a refund and instead, charged my card. I told her it was charging my card and she assured me it wouldn't. I now have a $1.47 charge to my debit account which should of actually been a refund of the $2.87 I was overcharged for an additional item at full price. She laughed when I came back and said she thought it wasn't right. OK then why let me walk off if you didn't think it was right? She refunded me the $2.87 at this point but I was still charged AGAIN for the $1.47 that that was done in error for the first "refund". For me, this is unacceptable. I overheard the manager ask the cashier if she knew how to void an item transaction when this sort of thing happens and the cashier waived her off assuring her she did. This is clearly a lie since I sat there and WATCHED her ignore the incorrect scan of my item then turn around and scan the other barcode sticker on the same item! She knew what she did. Thats what happens when you scan an item more than once despite it being a different barcode. We spend a lot of money at this location for our family of 5. I stop in several times a week. Its sad that this small incident has been the cause for me to shop elsewhere. I will now shop at Save A Lot until the Aldi on Veterans Memorial opens. Be careful when it comes to your money.

Come for the sales and a couple of specific Kroger brand items we like.
