Avoid this tow company. This tow company engages in what could be called predatory towing. I say predatory for the following reasons. 1. Appearing on a accident scene without being called, or flagged down (violation of state law and Kansas City ordinance) 2. Using high-pressure tactics to get consent to tow ( such as saying you are required to use our company because we are licensed and are here, You are not allowed to drive the car because it was in a wreck) 3. Not giving a price list (or an estimated cost of the tow) (again in violation of Kansas City ordinance) 4. Towing it to a place other than where the car's owner agreed to. 5. Charging for services not provided (said they cleaned the wreck area unless picking up a piece of plastic that weighed 1 lb that fell off while they loaded the car). but $300?? If the city would have towed the car to the impound lot, it would have been 1/6 the cost they were charging.

First big snowstorm of 2024, and found myself needing a tow and quick! I called these guys and the sweet woman on the phone was so quick to get my info and get someone dispatched in no time. Despite all the cars almost hitting us, the driver and his truck, he remained calm and kept reassuring me the entire time. What felt like over an hour on the side of the road panicking, was really only about 25 minutes and we were in route. While I did not catch his name unfortunately, he was worth his weight in gold. Thank you, J's Southland Tow, for bringing me some peace during a not so peaceful time.

Paid 200 bucks to go 2 1/2 miles and as they was loading they crumpled my fender and telling me they are not responsible for damage due to it being a bad ball joint

Wow. To say we were impressed is an understatement. I cannot speak more highly of J’s Southland and their staff. They are efficient, reliable, highly skilled and very easy to get a hold of. On our first call later Tuesday evening, the woman who answered was able to get us a quote within minutes. She then got us scheduled for our non emergent tow the very next morning… and even followed up a few times with updates on the crews ETA when my husband was figuring out his work schedule.Not only was it easier than ever to get their service scheduled, but Jeremy and his crew showed so much skill in completing our F150 tow service from a very confined space in our backyard. The truck had been stranded for months sinking into the mud, parked to the right and behind our driveway and only inches away from our detached garage. We have a very narrow and curved driveway with minimal space as is… but Jeremy was not phased and quickly pivoted to bring a second truck and smoothly (and successfully without a single scratch!) maneuver the vehicle out of our small plaza backyard and onto the tow truck. Prices very reasonably for the time and effort this job took. we truly feel lucky to have found Jeremy and his people who made this experience fast, easy and STRESS FREE!

Out of fuel on the side of the road and because I could only provide aaa membership number there gunna leave me on the side of the road. Not to mention the driver and woman in the office were very rude and of no help at all. Just used aaa a week ago with no issues but when routed to southland nothing goes smooth. Won’t call them ever for anything.

My fiancé was called by the Clinton, MO police dept letting us know J Southlands there in Clinton had towed our truck that had been stolen in KC a few weeks prior. The police informed us that Southland had the truck because there was no impound in town. Southland reported to bring the truck onto the lot at 11:57pm the night prior to us being called. We arrived before 5pm the day we were called by police and Southlands charged us $710 to get the . Was informed by the incredibly rude and unprofessional “main office” that they charge $100 per calendar day on top of the other ridiculously high charges. Despite the truck being brought in at 11:57pm - 3 minutes cost us $100. Obviously a terrible sham. You should pray you never have to deal with this awful company

Southland tow took advantage of me & my family during a difficult time. They are crooks! Was involved in a car accident and I explained to the tow truck driver who arrived that I had AAA insurance who would cover the tow. He said he does do tows for AAA but said that AAA doesn't cover tows from car accidents only regular tows(that was a lie). He went from saying it would be one price before hooking my vehicle up to a higher price after hooking up my vehicle in less than 3 mins. He charged me $365 total and said there would be additional fees for things like gas & mileage. The vehicle needed to be towed 12 miles away. I called AAA on the way to the hospital and they informed me that the tow truck driver definetly got over on me for the price I paid and reassured me that I was covered for a tow, regardless if it was in a car accident or not. This is a money hungry business who will lie and take advantage of people during unforeseen circumstances.Service: Car towing

This place is ran by a bully he is a man that will break the law just to tow your vehicle. I was on private property in Lake Winnabago cass County and he towed my vehicle without written consent from the owner of said property where my car was parked , he didn't check to see if the police were doing their job properly and he didn't follow the Missouri tow lows. When I called and gave him a chance to do the right thing he said no and began to bully me. The lake Winnabago police force is illegally pulling people over and violating the rights of the people and South land tow is knowingly contributing to this bad behavior. Just like the cops and tow companies in Randolph County that were caught this one will be caught as well. God, humanity, and kindness is in my corner.Please speak up if they have done the same to you this company and the owner do not deserve to stay in business.

Huge shout out to Charles at Js southland tow. Guy shows up with incredible energy and positive attitude. Cheered my four young kids up, after waiting for other services that did not show. Js southland tow ( Charles) showed up and fixed our flat tire and we were on our way. Thank you thank you thank you for incredible, efficient service and positive service.

Beware of this company they enjoy hurting your wallet. They actually take pleasure in it. I have been totally bamboozled by them. If you are taking the time to read this review please think twice about using this company. They don't deserve you as a customer. I waited a couple of days 2 write this because I'm still reeling from the whole experience. I still can't believe this is happening 2 me & my family.On July 19th my daughter n law found a paper in the yard that had come from the post office on July 11th. It was from Southland tow. I called them on the 20th & the first person I spoke 2 said "well if you aren't missing a vehicle then I guess u don't have anything 2 worry about". Click. Out of curiosity I went on the 21st 2 get the letter. Im glad i did because the letter stated they had a vehicle of mine & its $900 + 100 everyday after. They towed it July 3rd from Archie & never notified me. Never called once. My heart stopped I don't have that kind of money I didn't even know it had been taken. It was kept on my farm & I didnt notice it had been taken. I am hurt & angered by a company who has no decency or feelings about the people they are supposed to be serving. I called back on the 21st upset, angry, & hurt that this is happening. The last women who spoke to me Angela I think was her name actually laughed in the phone while in the back ground other people were laughing as well and told me "actually it's $2000 now mame" if I didn't have $1000 why would you laugh at me and tell me I owe $2000 instead. How heartless can a person/company be? I mean you have someone who has been taken advantage of by having their truck taken & then you turn around & try to take even more from them? She said "sometimes the owner may work with you if you give me your number they will call you back" It is now the 24th & I still haven't gotten a call so it's what $2300 now? The letter says they can destroy or sell it. I dont want to lose this truck thats why its been sitting for 8 years after I wrecked it.This was my sons first vehicle we got him it has sentimental reasons for us & now it's gone all because people in this world enjoy their power & money. I don't get it & I will never understand why people enjoy hurting those of us that are barely getting by & already struggling. I've never used this companyI will never use this company .I know they are a bigger known company locally but there are others out there. I get life is unfair but really 2 do this 2 someone after they have obviously had something taken from them. They now want to do even more damage to me by charging me so much money & not returning my call. As if having my truck stolen wasn't enough they want to add salt to the wound. Wow this world is really falling apart. Southland Tow I get you're a big company w/lots of money kudos 2 you. Unfortunately it's people & companies like you that are hurting ordinary people in a community U should be trying 2 help. Thanks for the call back I never got. You should reward your staff because they are just as brutal as you are.I've read your responses to the negative reviews & they are even arrogant & rude.
