One of the best getaways I’ve had. The welcoming and warm atmosphere of this place is outstanding. The details put into making this B&B a relaxing and welcoming place can clearly be seen as soon as you walk through the door. Kathy is so nice and goes out of her way to make sure that you’re comfortable and taken care of. The breakfast was AMAZING! We will definitely be back.Nearby activities: Nestled in downtown Parkville with many shops and places to eat all within walking distance.Safety: Premises are always locked and they are very aware of who is coming and going/around their space.

Spent two nights here and enjoyed every minute. Attention to detail; great multi-course breakfasts and location is an easy walk to hiking, restaurants and Park University.

My partner and I have stayed Kathy & Jason's on two occasions now. The first time was back in July of 2023 for a one night stay. We were looking for somewhere within 2 hours of Kansas City, ideally with a Jacuzzi, reasonably affordable, and with enough nearby hiking and small businesses to explore in the middle of the week. Main Street Inn was the only place that fit all the criteria and had great reviews, so we thought we'd try it.I'm from the KC area, never do "staycations", and usually "rough it" when it comes to hotels (and rarely spend any time in them), so I initially didn't think the whole Bed and Breakfast concept would be my speed...I thought wrong. We loved this place enough to come back over MLK weekend for a 2 night stay! It's a completely different experience than you would get at even a luxury hotel, has arguably better amenities, and is much more charming. We have now stayed in both the Colonel Park Suite and Missouri River Suite, both of which had nice walk-in showers, jacuzzies, tasteful and unique decor and lighting, great seating options to enjoy breakfast and hang out, and came with unusually good local, natural, and great smelling bath/body products to use. I usually wouldn't care about any of these things, but they made me actually want to and enjoy spending time in the B&B!The Breakfast part, unsurprisingly, is a highlight here. Kathy might try to undersell her cooking skills or let you in on some of her secrets/shortcuts, but the breakfast courses she has served here are FANTASTIC and have included a couple delightful seasonal French Toast bake and a chicken sausage/potato/egg/veggie skillet bake thing that was out of this world. She is also really creative and goes above and beyond with handling challenging dietary restrictions. The sweet breads (Banana, Almond, Pumpkin Cranberry, etc.) delivered to the room with French Press Coffee are nice as well, and worth setting your alarm early for! I REPEAT. DO NOT OPT OUT OF THE BREAKFAST TO GET MORE SLEEP. You can, but you will miss out on a key part of the experience. This is also your time to get to talk to Kathy. She is a lot of fun and has lots of cool stories and experiences to share from her time owning Main Street Inn with her husband. The city of Parkville doesn't look like much at first but has a Nature Center and beautiful riverfront green space to walk around, the eponymous Main Street full of restaurants, antique stores, a mini golf course, boutiques, and watering holes, many of which we haven't had a chance to visit even over our two visits. It really is a charming place with plenty of things to do/see, and downtown KC is not far away if you get bored.Overall, even if you live in KC, I couldn't more highly recommend Main Street Inn as a weekend getaway. You will not regret it. The care and attention to detail with the whole experience is unmatched.

Such a beautiful home and Kathy was so welcoming. We hosted a co-worker from Kenya his first time in the States. He felt so comfortable and pampered.Thank you, we can’t wait to send more guests your way.

Stayed here for a surprise one night staycation. The room was pristinely clean. The jacuzzi was warm, relaxing, and inviting on a crisp winter night, but the atmosphere with the candle lights and calm music truly sealed the deal. The decorations of the Inn will keep your eyes busy as you appreciate all the detail that went into making Main Street Inn - Home. Kathy is very sweet and an absolute pleasure to talk to. Check in and out was smooth and easy. Welcoming attitude and superb food made the stay enjoyable! Don't hesitate if you're interested, go for it!

Let me start off with all the good. The decor is beautiful and everything is squeaky clean. Kathy is a warm person and an amazing cook - the breakfast is delicious.I do have a few things I would add to anyone thinking of staying here that fall short for me.I am the type of person that needs darkness to be able to sleep. The room I stayed in had windows lining the porch and the porch lights are kept on all night. The windows don't have blackout curtains or anything on them more than a few sheets of lace. While it looks beautiful, it's not functional. I got maybe 3 hours of sleep because there was so much light being let into the room. I think it should be noted in the "what to bring" section on the site that a sleeping mask is basically a requirement to get any sort of sleep (probably depending on the room you book). The only other complaint is the request for gratuity at the end. I am a big believer in price transparency. This is a privately owned business that sets the prices. If you want to charge more, I think you should raise your prices instead of asking for gratuity. Big disclaimer - this is the only bed and breakfast I have stayed at and this might be a standard practice. It feels like it's pressuring guests to add an extra $60 to the cost when the prices are set by the people you are tipping. Some people might not have issue with this, but just my 2 cents. If you bring a sleeping mask and know ahead of time that they ask for gratuity, overall it can be a great option!

The Main Street Inn is a wonderful experience in a very fun area. It's quiet and charming, we've stayed here two years in a row and have had a wonderful time each time we visit.

We loved our stay here, and was blown away how great that breakfast was. If I were to nitpick, I wished there were some bottled water in the fridge. Other than that, my wife and I plan on booking here again.

Amazing experience as always. Love the rooms and the service and the warm, cozy atmosphere. Breakfast was amazing and love being able to walk down to the little shops in Parkville as well as the nice restaurants and pubs. Jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room was amazing and the colonial suite. But all the rooms are awesome. Love this place!

My wife and I have stayed at a lot of Bed and Breakfasts in the past. This one is unique because of a thoughtful touch. French pressed coffee and a muffin for each delivered to the room for the first course of breakfast. This was served earlier than breakfast, and we really enjoyed that aspect. The Parkville area is nice and close to other shopping opportunities as well.Nearby activities: Parkville has many fun shops in a walkable downtown. Park University is beautiful too!

Kathy was the best innkeeper we have ever had. The Main Street was a beautiful and accommodating inn with the best breakfast you could ask for. The only issue we had was it was not handicapped accessible. We managed though and had the time of our lives. We couldn't have asked for anything better to celebrate our anniversary! Thanks Kathy...we'll be back.Rooms: Very nice and really comfortableWalkability: Three blocks from historic downtown Parkville

Kathy and her husband were wonderful hosts. There was a lot of attention to detail that I noticed. Our room was extremely clean and well thought out. The ambience on their front porch at night was very elegant with the fire pits and lighting. They’ve put much work into their business and it truly shows. I especially enjoyed the little emphasis for the Parkville businesses. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We’ve already recommended it to others.

We were very impressed with our room, the Missouri River Suite. Breakfast was excellent and kept us full for the majority of the day. The ambience is established before you enter the home with music playing on the stairs up to the house, in the hallway and refreshment area. The small touches do not go unnoticed. Chocolates on our pillows, body spray and soap made locally, and (my personal favorite) the library featuring several collections of Calvin and Hobbs. We will be back and are anticipating our next adventure here.
