J & S Transmission (In Parkville) is absolutely the best place to take your car North of the River! They do more than just transmissions - they do it all. FAIR and HONEST! Honesty save you money! Trust these guys - they're family owned and they want your return business. I have never been treated this good anywhere. Much Appreciated!

J&S could easily told me I needed a complete transmission rebuild. They however changed the filter put proper amount of fluid in and sent me on my way. This is the way business should be done. Honestly!

I had to bring my car in twice within the past month both for different reasons. The crew both times were very efficient, professional, curious and understanding! The second time I brought in to them, although not able to help due to the type of damage, they held my car until it was able to go through the proper channels. I highly recommend J&S for outstanding service, knowledge and professionalism!!!

For the person who’s desperately looking for a place to get their transmission rebuilt, who’s seeing the mixed bags of reviews- some good, and some really bad. Let me be the one that sways you. They do four out of seven cars dirty. If you leave with a good experience, know that you lucked out with being the chosen job they decided to take pride in. Not only did they charge me a higher price than though quoted, but they ‘fixed’ the car before notifying me of the price change, or what was wrong with the transmission in my truck. My truck was having obvious issues accelerating when I got my truck back, I had to return it twice for them to fix the problem, and it was never completely fixed. When I would call and say what’s going on and express frustration, I was told they are “understaffed” and a rant about how hard “dishwasher parts are hard to get, imagine how difficult car parts are hard to get” if you’re confused, so was I. If there’s parts you can’t get, why was I given my truck back? Under a year later, my transmission starts to slip again, per my mechanic that I trust. I call and ask about their warranty (on 12/15/23) I’m told it’s good for a year. I’m then put on the phone with Johnny, who kept dodging my inquiries about the date that I had been there, and if I qualified for the warranty. Eventually, after being told I’m “being difficult” when I asked to be emailed the terms of the warranty, he said my warranty expired the very next day (12/16/23) and they won’t be able to get it in until after the weekend, this was on a Friday. We agree for me to bring it in the following week, although he insisted that it was an electrical issue, even when telling him I had it in writing it was not. I had yet to find the receipt and had told him I had misplaced it, but I found it today. It was dated to expire for over a month from now (had work done on 1/20/23) and I attached photos. We can only assume I would have gone there just for them to tell me the warranty is expired. These are con men and women who will bamboozle you then find a way to point the finger at you and dodge responsibility. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra buck going elsewhere, or take the loss. I wish I had a lot sooner.

I have taken my truck to these guys a few times and being new in town from out of state they helped me out tremendously. They helped diagnose and repair my transmission in my Ram. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. Friendly and honest. The little white dog is slightly grumpy tho. 10/10 they will always get my business.

They had our car for 2 weeks to put a new timing belt on it & check a glitch in the transmission. Couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission & put the timing belt on wrong, so it cut the wire to the crank sensor & it broke down on me.

Customers beware of J & S Transmission! I took my truck in to have my transmission diagnosed to find out the issue(s) and the technicians stated that I needed a new transmission which they quoted me at $5,300 dollars. I requested the diagnostic test details sheet and they only provided me the diagnostic bill cost, with no details or a summary on the bill regarding an explanation of the issues with my transmission. I took my truck to another transmission shop and they did a diagnostic test and stated that I did NOT need a new transmission and the only issue with my transmission was the "lead frame", which is the brain of the transmission. This other shop stated that the repair costs would be $1,600 dollars. That's a significant savings of $3,700 dollars . I'm just shocked that J & S Transmission would take advantage of a customer, their dishonesty and provide them with falsified information for their financial gain. So, everyone please think twice and reconsider taking your vehicle in to J & S Transmission for transmission repairs before you end up with thousands of dollars out of pocket costs for unnecessary repair expenses!Service: Transmission

This transmission shop will only recommend replacing transmission instead of doing simple repairs. I had a wrench light on my truck and the code was for the solenoid pack inside the transmission. They told me $5000.00 for repair and 3 weeks wait time. I declined and looked the code up online. I bought the solenoid pack ,transmission filter and watched a couple of YouTube videos and repaired it myself in 2 hours for $350.00. Been running fine since. Most of the transmission shops here in Kansas city do the same thing. I would have easily paid $1000.00 to get it done but was forced to do it myself and it was pretty easy. Dropped pan and solenoid pack was right there with 8 small bolts . 2 bolts for the filter. I will be avoiding transmission shops here from now on.
