I've been in numerous hotels. And this is far beyond the best. Maintenance is top notch. The staff is amazing, when you walk in the door you feel like your at home. Security is never an issue.

Safety: The police are always nearby, and very responsive.
Walkability: Plenty of stores within walking distance.
Food and drinks: There are plenty of shops nearby to provide whatever you may want.

Check in was nice and smooth, front desk was super helpful and nice. However, the rooms smelt like expired chicken and random, unknown stains were around the room. I wanted to give the place a try but it was not what I had hoped for. Would not go back again.

I live here.
Been staying here for almost going on 2 years.
It's a great place to stay.
Maintenance fixed our tub
Our lights and the housekeepers are always great at keeping the rooms pretty clean and tidy
I enjoy talking to front desk and staff are easy to get along with especially managers Becky and Crystal and everyone else..
Beds are so comfortable.
My only concern is the bugs that are constantly in our room.
Nearby activities: Plenty of great affordable restaurants around for great food options.
Walkability: Easy to walk to all the great food places.
And the North ymca has a great gym which is only few blocks away.
Excellent access to all my personal daily needs..

Hands down one of the worst hotels I’ve been in. I booked via Hotwire which advertised as a 3-star hotel. This was nothing of the sort. The rooms were filthy. The chairs and bedding was stained, furniture broken, the bathroom light didn’t work and there was a suspect substance covering the door of the bathroom.
I would recommend staying in your car before staying in this hotel.
Rooms: The rooms were filthy. Traveling with friends we had reserved two rooms and both were equally terrible.
Safety: The hotel did not feel safe or secure.

Find some capital and remodel the entire facility. You have a great location. Then, raise your rates to obtain a better clientele. The condition of the bathroom and the transient guests made me very uncomfortable ?
Rooms: Need a capital infusion and immediate remodel.
Safety: The local transient clientele made this location feel very unsafe. The noise in the hall at 3AM from obvious drug users did not impress me as well.
Food and drinks: I seen plenty of food and drink options in the area.

We had a problem with bed bugs, room 106 was infested, we spoke to the hotel's night staff and they just moved us to another room (107) where THERE WERE ALSO BED BUGS!! The lady at the reception told us that they only had one other room available, but they moved us to a smoking room (it stank a lot) and the shower didn't work (which we didn't use at any time). The next day, they gave us a really clean room and we were only able to rest on the last day of our stay. If you can, DO NOT SAVE MONEY AT THIS HOTEL, since the staff did NOT give us compensation for the damage. I have a terrible itch on my arms and face! I really regret our stay.
Nearby activities: The hotel is close to the center, but there are better options.

The lobby is nice but the floor is concrete. The room ........ There's mildew in the wall and the room smells very strongly of dog urine. I brought in air freshener but I'm not sure it can cover the smell. But it's better than sleeping in my car. So it will have to do. But if you have an option, I would pay more to go elsewhere. The staff at the desk was nice though.

Wish I could give them no stats. I was waiting on a bed for a recovery house. I checked in last night. No one told me I couldn't leave early nor did I get a receipt. I went and ask what my options are. The manager said she couldn't refund me anything. Almost 500 dollars. For 12 hours. This place is a joke. I even told her I was waiting on a bed at a recovery center. She said oh someone had to tell you. You can't check our early. That was never said. I'm so mad. Don't go there. Please. I'm a local. I own a shop and would never do that to paying customers.

The last time I stayed at this hotel was a good one. Restaurants near by. Easy access to the hwys. And the door's locked behind you after you entered the building going to the hallway to your room. And my door to my room always locked after I went out side. For the price of my 3 day stay wasn't to BAD!! So if you needed a good place to stay for a few days! Cool!! But if you don't!! Thin go spend lots of money for a hotel room down town in Kansas City Missouri and see what you get and how much money you will have to spend!! But if you are like lots of people! And on a budget! I would stay here!! Mr, Carlill
Nearby activities: Restaurants near by and close to the stadium s.

American Inn is easily the worst hotel I’ve ever had the misfortune of walking into. We had booked through our credit card, trusting their reviews only to show up to the worst area and interior of a hotel I’ve ever seen.
This place is dirty, reeks of cigarettes, has oily, gross carpet (we never took off our shoes because it’s that gross), stained furniture, gouges in the wall, a bathroom I wouldn’t feel safe showering in and so much more.
Not to mention that there have been homicides here in recent months and years.
We went to our room to discuss what we should do, ultimately deciding to leave after less than an hour of being there. At midnight, we had to leave and go to another hotel after already having a 14 hour day on the road.
We attempted to pursue a refund in which they lied to our credit card company saying we stayed the whole night.
The only thing I’ll give them is that the guy at the front desk seemed nice enough but now I’m unsure considering they are lying and saying we checked out the next day.

I stayed here for awhile and could review everything about this place. But I think the fact that they pay there costumers to write 5 star reviews for them and as of me writing this they have barely 3 stars speaks for itself. And there's nothing I can say that someone hasn't already written. This is not a hotel you want to stay at if your coming to kc for vacation or to have a good time. I would give them one star but there's a couple very nice people that work there and that second star is for them.

Around 12am I was woken up by security screaming about how I had broken into the room. Was also threatened with having the police called if I didn't go downstairs now. So I got dressed and walked out and the security jerk asked what my name was. Well when I told him my name he admitted it was a mistake. While I was out in the hallway my cards were locked out and couldn't get back in my room. They act like that dump is the Marriott. No effort was made to apologize my desk staff. The rooms smell and most of the carpets in the rooms are beyond nasty. Don't let them put you in 217 Room smell bugs in rooms from roaches to bedbugs. The room was 90 bucks which is a rip off. Some advice stay away spend the extra money to stay somewhere else.
