“I had quit coming to this church several years ago and decided to give them another try recently. I was pleasantly surprised and they are back to teaching biblical messages. The Good Friday service was unbelievable. The music is wonderful and the singers are outstanding.”

“I want to thank members of the Men's ACTS team for being so welcoming and supportive of my participation in St. Joseph's ACTS. Although I live across the Mississippi River in Collinsville I have felt a part of this parish family since I was recruited for the ACTS retreat in 2019 and again this year. Thank you all so much!”

“The staff are all awesome, and the parishioners welcome you when you attend, whether it be for service or one of the many activities that they have going. I loved attending the Tuesday Morning Life Group and the Young at Heart Group, but unfortunately, Covid stopped it from meeting. There are other groups that meet. I watch their service online currently because I am a full-time caregiver and can't get to church right now. I am also a prayer warrior, and you can ask for prayers, and they would be more than happy to say them for you. I would recommend this church!!”

“I have stopped in to this particular Reading Room several times over the course of 25 years - and several times in just the past few months. Each attendant has been warm and welcoming - delighted to share information in an easy, non-proselytizing way and equally as delighted to learn about you.”

“This church is the real deal! It’s a spirit-led, loving, friendly, Bible sharing church that feels more like family than anything. The pastors are all about real life and tell the truth of the Word of God in a relatable way. No one is left out, as new people are welcomed warmly- they genuinely want to know you! Ever since they switched to the 9:00 and 10:45 services, I can come well-rested and ready to praise God with modern praise songs. My small group here knows and loves each other and I look forward to it every week. You can wear casual or dressy clothing and no one is judging you; they’re just happy to praise God with you. It’s diverse and somehow so many different people get each other and love each other like Jesus. I have learned so much here, and the pastors are funny at times, while sharing what God says in the Bible. Do yourself a favor and come check it out.”

“I'm highly amused that St Gerard Majella's fish fry, which only happens once a year for like 5 weeks during Lent, has a Yelp site. But I'm also thankful that someone created one. I'm not a St. Louis native and don't understand all the hype surrounding fish fries. Well, now I know. I came here last Friday at 5:10pm (they opened their doors at 4:30), the first week of their fish fry, with the naïve thought that I was "early". I fully intended to use their order-online-and-pick-up-curbside but 30 minutes after they opened, their website shut down/broke and it said they weren't taking any more orders. I told my husband I would be home in 20 minutes. 1 HOUR LATER, I finally left with my carryout food and wondered if the food would be worth this crazy long drive-through wait. The church staff told me that the line would likely be shorter after 6:30pm...but when I left, the line of cars waiting on Dougherty Ferry Road was the same length as it was at 5:10pm. When you arrive in your car, you enter the drive through line from Dougherty Ferry Road, and exit on Ballas. Apparently people started lining up at 4:00pm. I asked if parking and walking in to do carry-out was faster, but the lines were apparently also long inside. They take cash and credit card. As you inch along the drive through, they also sell Ted Drewes ($3 each, about 1 cup size), drinks/beer, give you free tartar sauce or cocktail sauce, then give you a number to place on your dashboard so they can direct you into 2 lanes, then merge you into 1 lane, and then you order your food, pay, and pick up the food. I tried the fried cod adult dinner, which comes with 2 pieces of fried cod, hush puppies (or a roll), 2 sides, and a packaged cookie or brownie. The cole slaw was my favorite side--fresh, vinegar-y, and a nice contrast to the fried seafood. I also tried the fried shrimp, French fries, and mac and cheese. The fried cod was my favorite--nicely breaded, not overly greasy, well-seasoned, and nice and hot even after I took it home to eat. Hush puppies left something to be desired---the cornbread inside was dry and the exterior breading too hard/crunchy. But still, tasty. So my first fish fry experience was delicious, but I don't think I will be waiting an hour again in the drive thru line again just to get the fried fish.”

“I have never felt so welcomed until I walked into this congregation. They are the warmest and most welcoming church I have ever been too. They love everyone no mater the journey they are on. I highly recommend this church.”

“An awesome place to work. Everyone is GOD Fearing, faithful, and ready to serve the Lord and every community in need of help all over the world. I am blessed to be here. This is the organization that I have always dreamed of working for. The Holy Spirit is in this place.”

“I've been attending this church (which has changed its name to Christ First) for 3 months. Bringing my grandchildren ages 2 and 4 as well. I find it to be alive, welcoming in consistent, genuine spirit; lots of learning and growth opportunities (Wed and Sun); racial mix is about even. Can't think of anything negative to say. Genuine faith lives here. Pastors are down to earth and provide good sermons. Encouraging but not pressurized. I'm very happy with this church as I endeavor to grow my faith internally and in life.”

“Went for the best sausage dinner ever. Great people, great food. Did not get the chance too see the church itself but was a great experience for my first time there.”
