“This branch of the USPS is named for Walt Disney, who along with his brother Roy, who both spent part of their childhood in Marceline, went on to create the largest entertainment company in the world.After Walt Disney's death in December of 1966, the citizens of Marceline lobbied the United States Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp to his honor. Marceline was chosen to be the location of the issuance ceremonies when the stamp was issued in 1968.I visited over the weekend & found staff welcoming & helpful, as I mailed several postcards. They were issuing a special stamp cancelation for an event for D23, Disney's official fan club.Inside, Disney fans might be interested to find some photos from the past & some prints of various Disney stamps issued over the years. Outside, there's a plaque on the wall.”
