Multiple people did not have their appointments honored while I waited my turn. It was acknowledged they had appointments but no one free to take care of them. Website to send documents to does not work and year after year same issue.

I hope that Mr. Jeffrey J. Jones reads this review even if it's in the capacity as an undercover Boss. My wife and I've been loyal customers of H&R Block for approximately 15 years. In 2019 our Master Tax Advisor made a mistake on our tax return which triggered an IRS audit causing us to eventually pay back thousands of dollars to the federal and state agencies. The Master Tax Advisor sent in multiple amendments before the amended tax return was accepted by federal and state agencies.H&R Block has a website for clients to securely upload documents and messages to assigned specialists. Our messages and uploads have gone long periods of time unanswered to the point of having to make personal contacts with the advisor. When H&R block sends us a message through the system, we get an alert right away and respond immediately. On their end there was an extended delay before a response was received back, including a furlough period for the Advisor. An H&R Block mistake cost us over $5000 in payments to various tax collectors not including the costs to mail certified documents, and fees to get the IRS off our back. Unless you go through this experience you will not understand the mounds of paper and documents that stack up from the IRS with deadlines. We paid extra for "PEACE OF MIND." H&R Block initially sent us two payments that did not cover all our costs associated with their mistake. Their correspondence generalizes payments under:- Penalty and/or interest: They provide no breakdown, it doesn't show what we actually received in penalties and interest, mostly estimates? until we upload actual documents received from the tax authorities. - Peace of Mind (Additional taxes owed): Their pay out numbers are invisible to us, and different from ours. - Second look certification: They provided no proof that this was ever done. The standard guarantee for "PEACE OF MIND" is supposed to reimburse any additional taxes we owe up to $6000. We were under that amount but was still not properly reimbursed as we presented to Executive Escalations.Adding to the H&R Block process, if the client is owed over $600, you will have to get a 1099 from them for the money you had to pay out. The client has to pay the IRS, they don't! H&R block should consider paying the IRS directly on behalf of the client for their mistake. The real test for H&R Block leadership will always be how they deal with the aggravation associated with any mistakes. Mr. Jones' executive team eventually got involved and repaired our trust in H&R Block. The process was reviewed, discussed, and the situation was eventually settled to our agreement. Thank you H&R Block for hearing my concerns and making the situation a Win-Win.

Very bad experience working with this office. Mistake on our MO tax return to the tune of $2,904.00. Not only did I have to find their mistake, make all arrangements to get the taxes fixed (thank you Sharron for fixing!) but according to H&R Block website, I am entitled to get a refund for my tax preparation fee since it was botched. The office manager, on 2 separate occasions told me he would look into my tax prep refund and call me back. No call ever came. And soon after that the game of avoidance started. Had to go to next step and make formal complaint. We’ll see if I get my money back. So think on this…If H&R Block leaves you high and dry on a request to refund your money on tax prep due to an error on their part, how helpful will they be if you get audited by the IRS? I’m not interested in finding out. Once I get my money back I won’t use their services again.*** Since I posted this review I got a note asking me to call Cust Serv- which I’ve done now - twice- been given case numbers - twice. Each time I’m told someone will get back to u in 3-5 days. First time they claimed to have left a message on my cell phone. My land line is tied to the account I don’t have an answering machine, and I’ve had No messages on my cell. This is a nightmare. Again I ask, what happens if I were to get an audit from the IRS - how difficult do you think it would be to get somebody from H&R Block to call you back?
