“Kim is amazing. She helped my family during an important time. My Dad was fighting stage 4 cancer that had metastasized and he was on hospice. He still had an appetite but wasn’t able to drive anymore.
I live in California and my siblings live quite a distance from where our Dad lived so it was hard to meet his daily needs.
When we visited our Dad, he enjoyed getting take-out food from his favorite restaurants but when we weren’t there he couldn’t have these little pleasures.
We tried to order doordash and uber eats but they don’t really deliver where he lived. I would tease my Dad and say “Dad you live in the sticks!” Anyway, we were running into difficulty finding help to get him things. We had to be creative to figure out how to spoil him.
I called a cab company and asked if a driver would mind delivering things to my Dad for us. They referred me to Kim and thought she’d help us.
She did! Kim was so supportive of helping and she understood the blessing this was for my Dad. She had taken care of her own family so she understood how we were feeling.
My Dad would spend time googling what he wanted, send it to me in a text, I would text Kim the order, she would order it & pick it up & pay and then I would venmo her the food costs with a driving fee that we agreed on.
Kim would do more though. Since she was a local she knew where to get Dad a pie. She took him his favorite caramel corn, etc. etc. etc.
Our Dad getting this take out food wasn’t just about him enjoying his favorite food. Kim coming out to his home brought a connection to life outside when he was homebound. Her coming with his food was something he looked forward to. It was a special something for him when maybe it seemed like everything was being taken from him.
I am going to include one of Kim & my correspondence and you will learn a lot about her. In this text she went to Taco Bell for Dad & my stepmom. She was waiting in a long line to get them what they asked for….
Kim, you forever will be cherished in my family. May God bless you and thank you for willing to work outside the box with your car and loving people.
