If we could do things over, we would choose to have our wedding somewhere else. Despite how beautiful the venue is, it was not worth the headaches caused by the Otten’s management and staff’s lack of organization and communication. They made several promises before we signed a contract that were not upheld. They did not provide all the alcohol that we paid for. On the day of our wedding, they told us that they were cutting our rental time on the rooftop by 2 hours. We had signed and paid for a 10-hour time block that ended at midnight. They tried to cut it to 10 so they could open it to the public sooner. We had to negotiate with the staff to at least let us have our last dance on the rooftop at 11 before they opened it to the public. The people covering our event had no idea what was agreed to and in our contract. I literally had to pull my phone out during our reception to search for old emails and messages to prove to their own staff what was agreed to. Not exactly what I wanted to be worrying about during my own wedding reception. Afterwords, management tried to downplay their mistakes and even tried to blame us for a couple of them. These are just a few of the problems that we faced with the Otten leading up to, the day of, and the days following our wedding. For the amount of money we paid them, they were a total mess. The one positive thing I will say is Johnny, the GM of Vye, was phenomenal. He was the only person associated with the venue who actually tried to help us and make things right. Other than Johnny, we have nothing good to say about The Otten and their staff. We would never recommend anyone book the Otten for their wedding after our experience with them.

Best day ever! The Otten on Main is such a beautiful venue, and the staff (and Doug the owner) really go above and beyond. Great communication and attention to detail. The space itself, rooftop, and suites were fantastic. Very flexible during a crazy day. Couldn't have asked for a better venue!

I'm only giving it ONE star because I couldn't give it 0! My bestfriend got married this weekend & we used this venue. From the very beginning It was spotty communication between the owner & my friend. My friend paid so much money and signed the contract to have her wedding there. We thought everything was going great until 2 nights before. Friday night (9/16/2022) we had rehearsal dinner at this venue for only like an hour. Upon arriving the door was locked & so we all waited for the owner to open the door. She finally came & greeted us & led us upstairs to where we would practice. We only practiced Friday because there was going to be another wedding Saturday. Anyways, so we are practicing & the owner is smiling at us while practicing. Our hour is up & we all go down the elevator to the front door & leave, very satisfied & happy because we are almost to the altar!!!! A couple hours later, we get a call from the owner stating that her car was broken into & It had to be someone from our wedding party & that the wedding was off until it got resolved. Now everyone lets pause & go over some facts. 1) we all walked out together, waving at her as we left. 2) we had reservations to places that night & all parked in front of the building. 3) we didn't know what car she drove as she was there before us. 4) our wedding party was fully black. Now I hate to throw racism into the mix, but we were definitely racially profiled. How come our wedding party was targeted? Its downtown & she left a purse on the front seat.. that's privilege to even think you could do that in downtown KC! Long story short & alot of tears later, they finally check security footage of places her card got swiped & what do you think they found? A white man. Walking away with her purse & swiping her card at numerous locations Including the liquor store. We had the wedding there because the attorney said the contract was locked in.. but do you think we ever got an apology? No. Moreso a story on how the owners life partner of 6 years is black. I would never recommend this place to anyone

Mixed feelings about this venue. My daughter just got married here and the day before she received a text wanting to know if it was going to be rooftop or inside. I will say the rooftop is a nice location for a small to medium sized wedding and view was great. I just wonder about having a venue like this and literally no place to park, leaving guests to fend for themselves.

Had some bumps in the road here and there, but overall I wouldn’t have changed a thing! The turn out was absolutely amazing, with such a beautiful view of the city! I couldn’t thank Doug enough for everything he did for us throughout the process/day of! This is such a beautiful venue inside and out, me and my husband highly recommend! I have added a few photos below of how beautiful this place is. Everything was so clean and our bartenders and security were the sweetest!(I’m a little late, we had our wedding back in September so I apologize for the late post!)But again thank you Doug, we appreciate you so much??

It is a really nice venue. My cousin had their wedding here. The event was on the 2nd floor, there is a small elevator or stairs.They have really nice string lights and there's plenty of space in the venue.The bathrooms are big but there's only 2. So there was always a line for the bathrooms. Usually there's more at venues. Like at least 6.The thing is, the parking is terrible. And it's downtown. We had to park behind the building in the parking lot by Lydia's. And then walk up a bunch of steps. Not too far of a walk but the location isn't the best.
