The good: decent space in the room. Heated pool. The hotel restaurant is pretty good. Nice atrium with indoor water feature. Friendly staff. Tree/grass area around a nice pool (which some rooms can walk out in to). Shower and bathroom are excellent (other than the toilet flush being so loud I think we might disturb neighbors!). Room AC is quiet and efficient.
The bad: we were offered a room with two queen beds, but they are actually full size (54" vs 60"...those are valuable six inches in our situation). Ugh. The back door latch was broken (our room had a walk-out into the grass any guess can access from the pool) and it took about 90 minutes for them to get it fixed, in which time we couldn't leave (all our stuff would be unsecured) or do anything. The parking access is confusing; some of elevator access from parking goes through the mall which shuts down later in the evening, making it a hassle to find your way around. The chairs in the room are uncomfortable (not bad for sitting ramrod straight, but the average person wanting to relax into a chair is out of luck). The room will not cool to below 70.5 degrees (weird that the thermostat is that specific).... it's not too bad but I was looking for 69 - why limit it like that? The pool gets deep quickly so it's not really friendly for little kids. The venting fan in our room wasn't functioning so steam built up tremendously.
Bottom line: wouldn't stay here again. There were some good things, but there are better options.

The staff at the hotel section were friendly (can NOT say the same for the mall's customer service office). The rooms were decent, but for the price, I've had way better accommodations through cheaper chains. The lock on the door was a battle, taking upwards of 5 tries per attempt to open the door from the outside. We couldn't use the TV because we didn't pay an extra $20 for internet. Toilets flush so loud you can hear the ones from 3 rooms away in the middle of the night (yet you have to flush multiple times in order for small amount toilet paper to go down). And the pool is really dirty...but hey free bottled water ?

Wonderful staff that made us feel welcome the moment we walked into the hotel.
The rooms were nice and had a lot of space with nice views. Unfortunately I feel that the AC couldn’t keep the room cool enough to sleep comfortably and the double bed are just too small to fit two people comfortably. Definitely wish they had two queen sized beds in the room. The gym is amazing and had so many options to choose from. The pool isn’t as huge as it looks in the pictures but still nice. The view from the sky walk that connects the two hotels is a must see at night
Amazing location with Union Station just across the street, the WWII memorial and a few shops attached to the hotel. You can even hop on the KC Streetcar and go see such beautiful parts of the city.
Other than those two small negatives this Hotel was still top notch because the staff was amazing and made sure that during our two days we were taken care of.

It is impossible to talk to an actual person when calling the hotel. My bill did not go to my email, now I've spent 20 minutes trying to track it down for reimbursement.

Westin what is happening here? The Westin @ Crown Center used to be one of Kansas City’s best hotels. There was a day this hotel was so grand once. Let me tell you those days are done. It’s not a bad stay however, rooms are mid tier, the location is mid as well. The staff however wins for being exceptionally perfect on hitting all the marks. All in all we will not be returning as this hotel is definitely in decline.

Zero stars. I booked a king room with a liberty memorial view for the 4th of July, at about double the usual rate. Only to hear upon checkin that they “oversold” , and was offered a double with a “liberty memorial- city view “. I unhappily accepted, only to find my room has a view of the parking lot.
I used to come here annually for the 4th of July, and other times throughout the year; that tradition ends now. The bait and switch of offering one thing, then providing something way different, if considerably less value, (at double the cost) is inexcusable. This company has no customer service and no business íntegrity. If you make a reservation here, just know you are rolling the dice, there is apparently no guarantee you are going to get what you request and what you pay for. And the management will not be responsive if you don’t like this shoddy treatment. They just. Don’t. Care.
Worst hotel experience I have ever had at a Marriott

100% Recommend the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. We booked last minute as a surprise for the kids. The room was perfect for us with plenty of space for all of our travel stuff. There is lots of storage available with a huge counter below the TV and a mini fridge. The bathtub was oversized and had a ledge on the wall side which is awesome for when you travel with small kids. The hotel connects to union station thru a couple skywalks and directly to the crown center mall, which has some great eateries.
I was especially pleased with the breakfast at the Westin Restaurant, One East Urban Bar and Kitchen. The restaurant staff took great care of us and the food was amazing.

Excellent hospitality especially the bellhop. Management should be proud of this staff. The front desk, housekeeping, bartender, catering, maintenance, and boutique employees were all fantastic. Our room was immaculately clean.
Unfortunately we did not sleep well for the three evenings we stayed. The "pillow top mattress" was flat and hard. The pillows for our bed were lumpy and basically useless. Let's say they are all at the end of their useful life and need to be replaced.
The handheld sprayer in our shower was broken. The hair conditioner bottle was broken and not properly attached. Maintenance was called to our room to fix the air conditioner (he was very helpful and friendly).
Also charging hotel guests a fee to park is really tacky.
I would like to stay here again just because of the excellent employees but most likely won't due to the inability to get s good night of sleep.

The location is the only thing this hotel has. I am writing this review when I am staying at this hotel. I have been staying here for 3 days. It took me 45 minutes to check in the hotel on the first day. Every morning, we called the hotel for cleaning up the room around 8 AM and told them we will be away in some hours so that they can arrange staff for that. When we came back to the hotelin the afternoon, noone came to clean the room. I had to go down stair to talk to the FO to ask for the cleaning up. I had to wait for 2 hours and noone came to clean the room. I could not call the operator because they kept hung up on my calls. I had to call the manager from my cell phone to repeat my minimum request.
Pillows and towels have bad quality: thin and small. The hotel even uses cheap plastic cups. I am so depressed at this hotel and will never come back. No shower cap, qtip, cotton pad in the bath room.
