OPTOMETRIST IS AWESOME! Staff not so much. One of the best eye exams I've gotten. Very informative. However the staff leaves a lot to be desired. I had to tell the lady checking me in 4 times that I was a new patient to their office. She spent aprx 10 minutes trying to find me in the system and trying to find my non-existent file. All while I got to stare at her midriff because she was wearing a crop top under her white jacket. The gentleman that tried to assist, had a little bit of an attitude when I asked him not to scratch my glasses when he needed them for something. I also saw no hand sanitation from anyone when handing my personal processions. I work in the medical field and that was alarming. There was zero explanation to me regarding what was happening with the pre-screening. Just "put your chin there". I've no idea what I was tested for. The one test I wanted to have was an OCT which was recommended at my last exam. The staff could not get it to work. The Dr. figured it out and apparently the machine was not being shut off properly at night. When I was checked out there was a second lady that appeared very, very unhappy. She was very vocal about the fact that she was called off lunch to assist the remaining two staffers that were bumbleing around the office trying to help the onslaught of customers waiting for assistance. Like I said the exam was great but I feel sorry for the Dr. Shubert that she has to deal with all of that.I will go back for the Dr. Shubert, but nothing else.

Horrible service and cost! Plan on spending a considerable amount of time there, if do you plan on having any interaction with this department. It took over 2 hours to just order a box of contacts. Also, do not expect the optometrist or staff to listen to any requests. The entire point of switching to Sam's Club was to save money on contacts and we let them know that at every step. Unfortunately, that is kind of hard to do when they wrote the prescription for only top of the line options. Go somewhere else, if you want any customer service at all!

Is it ok for someone to bring their bird into your store? Today a man came in with a bird on his shoulder, feeding it as he was getting his groceries . This is a pet. Why is this allowed? I have seen dogs, a reptile ? attached to a person and now a bird. This is getting out of hand!

Looks like the positive reviews were for a previous optometrist who used to work here. I came 15 minutes before my appt. and had to wait for some other patients who were late to theirs which made me late. But besides that, they wouldn't give me my pupillary distance with my written prescription. They aren't legally obligated to, but it’s very petty not to. The Optomotrist, Mr. Lopez said I could get that from the person doing glasses sales when I checked out but that person said I had to buy glasses from Sams to get that. My wife came about a month ago for an eyeglass prescription as well and Lopez gave it to her without buying glasses so I guess Im not charming enough. The workers here just seemed really jaded and soulless, like they hate working here. I like Sams Club but I wont be coming back to the Gladstone Sams Optical Center for anything. Oh and I don’t even trust my prescription to add insult to all of this. Ill be getting a second opinion.

My entire family gets our exams, contacts and frames from this Sam's Club. Dr. Mackey is courteous and knowledgeable and his staff is always helpful in getting the most out of our yearly benefits with VSP.

Dietitians are very helpful. The selection of frames is large, but not overwhelming. Prices are pretty reasonable.

I called twice and no one answered the main line. Called optical and they transferred me to tires. Tires let it ring about 30 times and then was kinda rude and short. Lenexa location, though did not answer the main line, was helpful and courteous when they answered.
