If you have health insurance and don't need a Level 1 trauma center, AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. I might recommend Menorah Medical Center in South OP, just 10 minutes from Research.
Long story short, my wife with her physicians urging, went to the ER at Research this morning at 10:30. They began discussing the idea of holding her for observation overnight at 2 pm. It's now 8:30 pm and she is STILL in the ER. They ran out of ER rooms and began stacking patients in the hall, not uncommon for a large city ER. The dude had a abdominal gunshot wound. They left him chained hand and foot to his bed. He was of course screaming and cursing. Flopping around as much as his restraints would allow. He soiled and urinated on himself and anyone else unfortunate enough to walk by. They finally moved him and brought a middle aged man to the same position, much the same. He was restrained to the bed and spent the next 3 hours, cursing the nurses, screaming about not being ready his rights (he hit a motorcyclist at 55 mph at a stoplight and just kept going.
Finally, my wife needed to use the restroom, she requested assistance AT LEAST 5 times over a 45 minute span. The staff couldn't even do that, it wasn't until I went to the nurse's station and told one of the nurse, who was busily trying to ignore my existence that if they didn't help her immediately, they'd have a mess to clean up. Finally, my wife not getting any assistance without demanding assistance. Pushed the call button, an RN named Abby (5'7, average build, mid-length blonde hair and glasses-Damn right, I'm putting her on blast). Came into my wife's room with, "What do you WANT?!?"
Anyway, I'm sure Research's clinics are great, but AVOID THE ER unless you have NO OTHER CHOICE.

Do you see that reply saying "We are sorry.. and Please call.."? They didn't really want me to call. It was for show.
I took my wife here because she was having chest pains and felt like she couldn't breathe. I went home for a bit and while I was away my wife started to become agitated and started sweating. Like you do when you are having a heart attack. The nurse called my wife hostile and security guards threw my wife on the bed, cuffed here hands behind her back and dragged her down the hall and out of the ER. I should mention that she is sixty eight years old and five foot tall. Next month she has to go to court because they charged her with criminal trespass.

Over crowded & under staffed. Was waiting to be admitted to the hospital for over 9 hours & still no room. They got busy & added another patient in my small emergency room to share the room! No privacy at all. I walked out & going to a better hospital.

A horrendous place to end up. If you arrive by yourself they will give you mind altering medications after starving you for hours and then make you consent to expensive procedures. This happened to the man next to us. Clearly a fall risk, he was left alone for an hour at a time until he tried to stumble away and find help, or food, or anything. He was eventually sent home after 10 hours or so without any understanding of test results or next steps, or food or water! If you have an advocate with you, they will forcibly separate you and then make you consent to expensive procedures. There seems to be a trend here! Two CAT scans in less than two hours even raised the eyebrows of the CAT techs. I suspect that the fraud investigators of our insurance company will also be interested. I'm so glad that the nurses at least have a nice time here. There's a little party going on in the nurses station. Laughter and music and snacks! And no worries about the patients at all. 8 hours and not one question about the pain level, concerns or comforts of the patient. A tiny trickle of information from the nursing team after much prodding, with a consistently bad attitude to boot. The CAT techs, especially Jeff, were the only caring providers there even if only involved for a few minutes. Our other experiences with outpatient surgery and the obstetrics dept here have been good overall. However, this ER is an actual nightmare. If you must go, take someone with you who fights dirty or you won't get anything resembling actual health care.

This place is so unbelievable below acceptable standards for me.They are short staffed, which causes decisions to be made that aren't entirely in the patient's best interests. The departments don't communicate well on transfer, which led to my loved one experiencing a fall when he was doped up with heavy medications for off-label purposes. When we went in and raised hell, they decided to make an effort. But, depending on luck of the draw, they still missed wound dressing changes, used heavy medications when asked not to, and completely ignored important medical directives. His first room on PCU was dirty with a sticky floor and visible dirt on the windowsill. He needed a sitter, but they didn't do that until after he fell.If you can't provide even a base level of care, don't send your life-flight helicopters out. We didn't choose this place. It feels like our dad was kidnapped. We have to constantly get assertive with his caretakers when they get lax about his care plan. I can't wait to get him out of this place. If you have the choice, don't go here. If an ambulance or life-flight takes your loved one here, do everything you can to get them transferred to a hospital that can communicate effectively and follow orders. I hate it here so much.

Amazing night crew, Josh and the nurses were great despite my attitude, been in a lot of pain and hard to be nice when you're in that way.But wanted to thank them all again for trying to help.Edit: Even better than I expected, the steroid shot and prednisone messed me up the first day but I recovered swiftly and am doing much better than I was.Thank you guys again for helping when others might not have.

This is a story that I don't like telling, my Aunt had brain surgery a month ago and there was a situation today where she had to go to the emergency room. So I visited her in the emergency room and she was okay when I got there but she started to feel nauseous and weak so she hit the botton for the nurse and they answered but no one came to check on her after three calls no one came in. In the meantime the er doctor came in and asked her how she was doing and asked her if she was okay to leave and she replied that she was still having nausea and bad headaches. I would just like to say that the treatment I saw from the ER staff was not satisfactory to a patient that less than a month ago had brain surgery. She said she was suffering from nausea and a major headache and vomiting. I could look at her and see that she was in a lot of pain and she told me later on that night that they gave her pain meds three hours later, after the doctor came in and talked to her and wrote that she needed pain relief. I was not to happy with the treatment that she received and I could tell that she was very frustrated. She is an x nurse so she knows when shes being mistreated. I know that Research ER can do better. Thanks for listening to my concerns
