I drive from Leavenworth, KS to this store frequently. It is BY FAR the BEST thift store I have ever been to. Quality, price, atmosphere, and staff are all top notch! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!
Just picked up stuff with my 2 sons for their first apartment, super clean items!

Hillcrest is an amazing place. I’ve never met anyone unfriendly there and once I found a beautiful antique Bible that did not have a price and the manager priced it right then and there for me. I could not be happier about ALL of my purchases there in the years past, from when they were just the clearance center to now. Platte city to Liberty, every single location has treasures to find. I have found amazing antiques to frivolous little books. Their pricing is more than fair for what you’re buying. I have many times bought something and then went and researched the price and found it to be worth more than I paid. I honestly hate most thrift stores because they can be cluttered, picked over, or just plain dirty. I have bought so many items from hillcrest and have been more than thrilled with the cleanliness of the store. Heck I’ve bought a beautiful Victorian couch, a full grain leather chair, cabinets, tables, silverware, books, blankets, music stands for my children, paintings, some of my very favorite things have come from there. It’s always my first stop when looking for something different. 10/10 (actually going back today to get something I thought I could live without but apparently cannot ?)
Edited to add, one time I found an amazing braided wool rug that was discounted to $20. This rug was in PRISTINE condition. This is my dream rug. My great grandmother had one when I was very little. I asked the man if he was sure the pricing was correct. He said yes. I voluntarily paid $50 for it because id have felt like I was robbing them for anything less. Lou and the ministry are amazing assets to our community!

If you are considering volunteering here, don't. It is cliquish, the people are rude, and it is not a friendly environment for disabled or neurodivergent adults. I was there for a few years and overheard and saw them talk and treat several disabled people very poorly. One woman in a wheelchair who worked/volunteered here would literally leave and have to stand on the corner and panhandle for money after work. They turned her down for a residence. They used to offer a lot of perks but those have dwindled away too. If you want to help the community find somewhere else. THIS PLACE IS NOT ACCOMODATING TO DISABLED, NEURODIVERGENT, OR ASD ADULTS!

This is such a wonderful store, clean and super organized, easy to get around in when busy, and the staff is so nice! Prices also are truly thrift prices, and that is worth the drive from anywhere.

Used to be a great thrift store. Now the prices are so high its not worth even going. Most stuff is higher than retail. Too bad really that you have to mark up stuff that was donated to laughable prices.

Like the store, had a terrible experience with a rude, passive aggressive manager (Melissa), Don't know why anyone would volunteer at this location after watching her interact with one of the new volunteers.
