Love Hammerpress! My most recent purchase was the limited-edition Super Bowl LVIII poster. Or so I thought. 3 days later I received an email from Debbie at Hammerpress to confirm I wanted last years poster and not the new one. The fact that she took the time to double check shows the quality of their service and attention to detail. Luckily she was able to fix my order and ship out the new poster. Most companies would have just shipped what was ordered without a second thought. Thanks Debbie for looking out for me!

Impeccable vibes and lots of cool products for personal use or gifts that I don't think you can find elsewhere in the city

One of my absolute favorites is the West Bottoms. I make it a point to visit this charming place a few times every year. It never fails to captivate me with its unique charm and delightful offerings. One aspect that I particularly adore is the treasure trove of great posters and stationary that can be found there. The West Bottoms seems to have a knack for curating an impressive collection, making each visit a delightful experience for anyone with an appreciation for creative and artistic finds.

Wow! This isn't just a great shop if you live in the area, I'd be so bold to say this should be a low-key destination for folks visiting from out of town. Hammerpress, I believe, started as a print shop on Southwest Boulevard, and now has a bigger space in the West Bottoms (y'know, the part of town with the haunted houses, where the Comets used to play). The shop is fantastic. Somehow I escaped without spending an entire mortgage payment. The've got writing utensils, markers, notebooks, paper, cards, and anything you could possibly want in your home office...candles, planters, golden tape dispensers. I got a small brass ruler and a palette little I was delighted to see notebooks from my own favorite neighborhood stationery store ("Shorthand" in Los Angeles), and I believe I've seen Hammerpress cards at Shorthand. Check it out, not just for the stuff you can buy, but for the space and the neighborhood. A sturdy brick building with old wooden floors that was probably home to some riverboat warehouse or stockyard. Inside, they've got their presses and metal typesetting bits, and it has a little printery smell. Outside, is such a cool area. Don't expect a dense neighborhood, but more of an old-timey industrial area with gravel parking lots and hidden gems all around.

Update Google when you’re going to be closed during normal operating hours. I just drove forever to get here and it’s closed ???

I like this place a lot, it just needs way more variety and inventory and more from other makers. Plenty of space wasted selling non-creative shlock.

I've been a fan of Hammerpress since they opened their first print shop in the Crossroads, way back in the early aughts. As a college student I'd look forward to an excuse to trek to KCMO from Lawrence to shop here and pick up some local goodies. They've been doing this so long, you could probably even make an argument that they were kind of the original shop local spot here in the city. Flash forward and Hammerpress has migrated from their OG location to further down SW BLVD, and now to this new spot in the heart of the West Bottoms. It had been a while since I visited so I wasn't sure where they had moved to, but it seems fitting that they'd end up in the West Bottoms as many of the artists that once had studios in the Crossroads have migrated that direction as well, and it seems true to both their craft as printers, and their vibe as artists to be in yet another cool, up and coming, hip neighborhood. All of this being said, this new spot is by far their coolest. From the arched entryway, to the bright interior, you're going to find everything you've come to expect from Hammerpress. Beautiful art prints? Check! Locally made greeting cards? Check! other stationary and art goodies? check and check! Next time you need a card go check them out - you won't regret it!

Original printing press and or presses still in operation straight out of the 1930's. Any type of card stock can be designed and produced by them! There was so much going on and I was really impressed with what they offer and are doing for sustainability to such a interesting craft. Unique affordable merchandise, lots of local art prints of concert/theatre events, useful tools if you are a writer & reader, local candles/incense, printed apparel, and oddities I love to explore! For a Wednesday afternoon there also seemed to be a real steady flow of patrons the owner knows and I also liked how the owner was interacting with his staff! Very professional business that is going thru a space renovation to make more room for retail space. This is a modern clean working workshop that deserves some prop's. Go and spend a day down in the West bottoms, I hope I am alive to see it in all its old glory but modernized with owners and staff like these folks ~

These are some sweet new digs. Hammerpress has moved again, this time to a super cool spot in the West Bottoms. Parking was a little bit of an issue at the old space. Not so much here. Parking is available out front, in a lot down the block and also on the street within the neighborhood. It's convenient and also a massive improvement from the old space, where at times it felt like you were risking your life trying to cross the street. Once you're inside, there's plenty of space, so you can take your time browsing through Hammerpress' collection of cards, prints, posters and more. If you're an old fashioned soul, who enjoys the old written ways, they also offer note pads, journals and specialty pens and pencils.

LIARS and a WASTE OF TIME. I talked to one of the receptionists at Hammerpress in the shop as soon as you walk in to the left. I wanted some custom items and so we made an appt for me and one of the makers to meet. The female told me someone at Hammerpress would call me but they never did. I called back countless times to ask about my appt. I'm convinced she never took it up with her boss but instead threw my appointment away.

Great staff! Highly skilled and very helpful. I have my Christmas cards made here and am always pleased with the results. Every city should be lucky enough to have such a store.
