I am extremely frustrated with with the lack of competence and urgency in dealing with an issue that is BCBC KC's fault. In September, I went to an in-network clinic for my annual flu and Covid vaccinations. I was therefore surprised to receive an initial bill shortly after this preventative care visit (preventative care should be 100% covered by my plan) and coded as out-of-network!I have spoken with countless support representatives on countless occasions for countless hours trying to resolve this issue. I believed it to finally be resolved after my account went through a manager review, but just received yet another bill in the mail!I again reached out to support this week to report the issue again and asked to expedite the resolution as the bill is now over 130 days overdue and don't want this to affect my credit. While the manager I spoke with stated they would take the corrective actions needed, I have absolutely no faith that this will be resolved.Extremely disappointed with this company.

They're ducking crooks who will steal your money and not pay when you need insurance... don't ever use them unless your rich and want to throw your money away...

Horrible company offers free services through the app and then charges for them. They don’t have people fluent in English operating their chat or phone lines which is disappointing considering how much money they make and how large their Kansas City office is.

Getting care & quality providers is impossible. You pay a bunch for insurance to go see the doctor & cant get any of these providers to keep an appointment. I've been trying to get a medication refill for the sleep meds that I was prescribed, my appointments keep getting cancelled for various, unacceptable reasons & there is no accountability for these doctors or their office staff. Why am I paying for insurance if I can't even use it? Why are we prescribing meds to people & then making it impossible to obtain refills? Absolutely ridiculous.

If they don't want to pay for a prescribed procedure, they will claim it is experimental. Pathetic excuse for an insurance company.Update- They contacted me to direct me to customer service who said they can't help. If you need a procedure, you better do your research. I was disappointed because I thought they had researched it and reversed their decision. My surgeon told me they are the only major carrier who doesn't cover this routine procedure.

Want to hear a joke? Government Programs at BCBS of KC. I cant tell anybody to not do what they have to but, dont expect much going into this place of business. Dont expect much choosing a plan with them either. Im speaking about gov programs, not sure what the rest of the company is about.First off i heard way too many members at this place be treated like numbers. From starters to veterans i heard tons of members being treated like they called at the wrong time. The operation at the front line seemed to be Managed by a guy name Jesse (tap dancer) and a woman named Jennifer M (tap dancer Assistant). How they got those positions is still a mystery to me because imo they were the most incompetent, unprofessional managers id ever seen in my life.It was no coincidence they were on the verge of imploding when i started there. They'd already lost their 4 star rating. Jennifer and jesse were a great reason why imo.Under them, the training was a joke. It was all over the place. It was more about leadership trying to sale you how cool they are versus actually teaching you about the job. Leadership often times would crash training sessions only because dey wanted attention like a child. The guy jesse, one of the leaders over the operation was notorious for this. Would acuse people of being boring because folks were focused on learning and not his corny jokes. It was unreal. Id never seen such a joke of a manager ever. Imo he was the sole reason they were having issues with many of their reps performance. As cool as he was, nobody took him seriously. When he wasn't doing that, he was giving out of touch speeches that made no sense and no one took serious.Id noticed that virtually no one was promoted based on real skill but, favoritism. It was very funny seeing poor examples tell the class they were seniors, leads and liazons that often times could not comprehend, was stomped on various different questions and had the wrong attitude. My last week i had a butterball tell me to change my voice and a buch shaped, paint brush eyelash wearing woman tell me she was in charge because she was asked to watch a class. They lied about several things prior to hiring. I came in on a contract and was told after 90 days i would be hired should i perform well, got in they didn't know when they would hire permanently and im willing to bet it had alot to do with money they'd lost behind their rating. They wanted temps because it was much cheaper. Shifts, wirk from home options were also a lie. If you choose bcbskc advantage as your plan, these are some of the things that are going on with that company.

As both a physician and a patient, Blue Cross Blue Shield of KC has rarely failed me. No medical insurance is perfect. They all make too much money off of everyone. BCBS of KC has always been the most dependable for me, with the widest network of providers and the most medications covered, since I was a child, 40 years ago.I've had, as a patient, and dealt with, as a physician, more than 40 insurance companies in several states, and have never faced fewer challenges than with BCBS of KC.Their plans are expensive, but they have the best value I've seen, and allow physicians to provide their patients the best care.Insurance plans, like medical facilities, are usually going to be reviewed by those with either the best or worst experiences, and the balance of reviews (half 1* and half 5*) here demonstrates that perfectly, so don't let the 2.5 stars fool you.I think if the reviews were representative of all their customers, they would be closer to 3.5 stars, and if you included physicians it would be over 4.

Pre-approved some diagnostic testing just to turn around and retroactively deny it 5 month later after the procedure was already performed leaving us on the hook for thousands of dollars. Absolutely shameful. Retroactive denial is the sort of thuggery that should be reserved for criminal enterprises.

If I could put 0 stars that would be what I would rate them. I pay these folks around 200 dollars a week for my family. There has been a national shortage on a certain medication which has been plaguing us all year. So they cant simply approve the name brand medicine. They want to play games with someones health and well being!
