Athleta’s return/exchange policy is awful- I bought a hat from there for $40- upon trying to wear it found out it was too big. It was new with tags & I had the receipt but I’d had a surgery that put me a few days past the 30 day window for returns- I was hoping they’d still exchange it for a children’s sized hat or another item, but they refused. There’s many other places with a much better returns policy to shop at (Lululemon, Aerie, Victoria Secrets, etc).
*Make sure if you’re buying a gift, that you can give it AND they can return it within that window, or you’ll be stuck with an expensive item that they can’t use.

I ran into Athleta with only 40 minutes to spare, asked the sales person, Gina, for help to get in and out, tried on literally 30 items and purchased 7 items in about 35 minutes, including one item that had to be ordered in-store and be delivered to my home (free shipping)….in a world of terrible customer service in big chain stores, Athleta on the Kansas City Plaza shines brightly and brilliantly! Ask for Kim when you go. She was the efficient and friendly lady who helped me! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

The employees are really nice and upbeat in a genuine way. I love their swift shirts. This might be tmi, but I'll share. At my age, I've started maybe getting hot flashes and sweating profusely. They have a silver infused line of tops that really help with comfortable sweat wicking and have anti odor technology that actually works. The material is the most comfortable of all sweat wicking materials I've ever worn. My picky 8 year old loves the material, as well. Extremely well made, though it didn't 100% stay intact in one of the knees when she went scraping them across the cement. Still excellent excellent quality. The shirts look, feel, and perform better than the lulumon equivalent with anti odor technology. Though, I do love the lulumon jackets.

I called beforehand and asked if I could exchange a product I've never worn and the employee was nice and said yes if I have never worn it and was within 30 days. When I went the employee embarrassed me in front of everyone saying I've had it for a year when I hadn't even had it for 2 weeks. She was talking so loudly saying that I was trying to exchange an item I've worn for a year. I kept saying I haven't had it for long and that I bought it at a different location and they had the item at that store and she said they haven't carried the item since January. I kept telling her I bought it at a different store and that it was very recent. Finally she was reluctant to check the system for my receipt and when I asked her when I purchased it she ignored me. I asked a different employee to look and she said I had it for less than a month and still within rights for exchange. This woman was so rude and she wouldn't speak to me after she knew she was wrong. I was very polite and felt like she was purposefully making a scene in front of everyone.She had platinum blond hair and it looked almost silver/grey. She was so rude. She certainly had no problem embarrassing me in front of everyone, but when she found out she was wrong she had nothing to say to me. I believe her name was Stephanie S.
