While our stay at the 21c Museum Hotel was overall good there were some drawbacks we encounter.Room: not clean, in general outdated, phone was not operating, bed was uncomfortable and noisy.Supplies and housekeeping: when we checked in there was very little toilet paper left in the roll and no replacement so we had to call from our mobile phone (as the room phone was not working) to ask for extra TP; there was complimentary coffee pods+machine but no sugar or cream.Food options: The hotel restaurant (Savoy) offers a variety of basic dishes that are somewhat creative. The bar is also great and they have a decent happy hour. Unfortunately, there is no other option for food such as breakfast and lunch. They offer complimentary coffee in the morning that seems to run out pretty quickly and not replenished (we tried to get coffee two mornings of our stay but it was empty. We wait for a fresh batch but it took too long and we had to go to our event). This hotel has a lot of potential but lacks on so many areas and misses the opportunity to cater to the specific crowds such ours (annual volleyball tournament). A breakfast bar with grab and go options in the morning (for players, parents and coaches) such as breakfast sandwiches, burritos, bagels, yogurts would help the guests immensely and generate good profit for the hotel. In addition, it would've been great to have access to ice (no ice machines available) and water (only one refill option on second floor). The location is the best thing about this hotel as it is close to all main downtown KC points of interest (convention center, Power & Light District, City Market) by walking or streetcar.Rooms: Dated, not well attended to.Walkability: Easy access to main downtown points.Food & drinks: Good happy hour at Savoy.

Very unfriendly staff. Literally every single person I talked to.Had “do not disturb” sign on and housekeeping ENTERED my room at 9:00am. And then AGAIN, at 9:30. Sign was still there. No knock either time.I couldn’t go back to sleep so I went to getCoffee. And they had come yet AGAIN at 10am. And I watched them REMOVE the do not disturb sign. Had to ask for it back.Told the front desk. They were very rude. And then I found out it happened also to my colleague also staying at hotel.Terrible experience.Noteworthy details: Rude staff.

Employees working at front desk were very helpful. Our room was fully stocked with everything we needed. The shower even had a rubber ducky which I thought was so cute, food was also

Loved the artwork (and the penguins). The rooms were clean and bright, and the gym was easy to access. I left something in my room accidentally and they were kind enough to overnight it to me!

This location didn’t have services, no room service on a Monday- the day after the Super Bowl. They only had 1 employees to man the whole hotel, so we had to come down to get items that we’re in the room. Carts with leftover room service were let in the halls from the weekend and stayed there til Tuesday when we chose to leave they were still there. They had a private function for a soccer team there that night but nothing to accommodate their other guests that don’t know the city.

Wouldn’t go here again , next time I’ll stick to outside the city . Random people sitting outside the hotel, front desk said that they had public parking right next to the building but when I came down my car was immediately towed ! When coming back into the building all the front desk did was smirk and giggle and said it was probably stolen and not towed …. Took me 3 hours to get my car back and 325$ later … front desk never helped me at all… they didn’t even offer to come to the parking lot to see if it could of been towed or helped … coming from a different state to stay it was very disappointing. If you anyone wants a safer option with better service and location I wouldn’t not choose this hotel .. called and left social media messages and still no reply … they will lead you a stray and won’t even know what there is to do in the city ! Not worth your money !!!Walkability: Close reach of everything fun

Loved this hotel. Perfectly located downtown. Easy to get to highway and close to walk to many restaurants and bars. There is also an amazing restaurant in the downstairs of the hotel. Highly recommend it if you have the money. You won't regret it. I also enjoyed moving the penguins around. You can also bring them into your room!

Let me say first off the front desk staff were incredible. Very nice and just genuinely decent about it. The issue here is that this hotel pumps some sort of fabreeze like scent into the hotel. Not just the rooms but the hallways. Enough that if you have asthma or are one of the millions of people who has a reaction to fabreeze then you are going to have a very, very not fun time.We were there about two hours in total before my airway got so bad we switched hotels. It was that or a trip to the ER. The hotel looks nice, the rooms look nice, the art is great.I chose to not stay so I could breathe. Which is a thing I've grown fond of doing.Don't come here if you have asthma or a fabreeze issue.

I attended an annual beefsteak dinner at the 21c Museum Hotel in Kansas City. It was an amazing experience! There was live jazz music, beautiful art on display near the lobby, and the food was fantastic! The dessert was especially delicious, but the sweetest part about the experience was when I was shown the 21c suite! It just so happened to be vacant that night, but it was a gorgeous room with an amazing view!Rooms: I only took a tour of the 21c suite, but it looked fantastic! The room was quite spacious, and all of the furniture looked great. Of course, comfort matters more, but I'm happy to say that the furniture I did sit on during the tour was quite comfortable!Nearby activities: There are a ton of bars nearby that are in walking distance! Furthermore, it's located near the riverside, so there are lots of shops and stores nearby that are within walking distance and worth checking out.Food & drinks: It was the annual beefsteak dinner, so the food was provided by the kitchen in a catering format. It was delicious!

From the moment of check in to check out, the experience was awesome! The front desk personnel were very welcoming and knowledgeable. Check in and check out were fast and easy and the food was absolutely amazing! Location cant be beat as it is located in the heart of Kansas City and within walking distance of everything. Strongly recommend staying here.

I stayed in 21c Museum Hotel when I attended a trade show at the Convention Center. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. From outside it looked like an old hotel, but inside it was a modern hotel. The art museum theme was also interesting. From the hotel, it’s a 6-minute walk to the Convention Center. It’s an uphill walk but manageable. It’s also only two blocks to Main Street where we can catch the free train/tram.I got a corner room which had a big living room and a big bedroom. I wish my family were with me. I also got breakfast voucher that allowed me to try breakfast in the oldest restaurant room in KC (so I learned). Overall it was a good experience.

I booked through a wedding block. The bride told all of the wedding party, which I was in, that we could get early check in. Just let them know we booked through their block. When we called the night before, we were told a note had been made on our reservation that we needed early check in. When I called the next morning to confirm, the attendant said they couldn’t not guarantee a room and didn’t even bother to check my reservation or care that I was in the wedding party. Luckily I was able to work from home in the afternoon so I could get ready and get to the rehearsal on time. When we arrived to check in at 4:15, we were told they didn’t have a room ready for us and we could drop our luggage off or wait. Luckily a manager was there and they figured it out, however we did learn that the wedding block was oversold. When we got to the room, the blinds in the bathroom didn’t work so everyone could look in our room when we went to the bathroom or shower. Luckily a maintenance person was able to come to the room, but he did have to essentially break the pulley system in order get the blinds to come down.Lastly, the water pressure in the bathroom was absolutely abysmal. I understand it that it’s a hotel and the water pressure might not be as strong as I’d like, but this was just a dribble of water come out of the shower head. It took 15+ minutes just to get all the shampoo out of my hair.Overall, this is a really frustrating and disappointing stay. I will not be staying here again, or recommending it.

I booked the King Luxury room. Upon arrival to my room, it was nothing like what was shown on their website for a king luxury room. What is advertised on their website showed a spacious room that included a table and love seat at the end of the bed. The room I was put in was nothing of the sort. When I asked the front desk about putting me in a room that was advertised, I was told that they cannot do room swaps. Also, the phone in our room did not work, and was told there was nothing they could do. The mini fridge in our room was not in working order so I could not keep any of my refreshments cold. Finally, I had to make 4 different trips to the front desk as I could not get into my room with the provided key card. They had to give me a new room key 4 different times. And due to the phone not working, I could not call down to let them know, I had to make multiple trips from the 3rd floor to get my key cards replaced. The stay was not a very good one at all.

Nice people but too many things didn't work properly for this to be a good hotel stay, but the art work was interesting: coffee maker instructions inadequate; fridge didn't work; bureau drawer fused shut, no tissues, didn't know you had to ask for change of linen service; then the wrong set of towels was delivered; bed uncomfortable, AC/heat noisy; wake-up calls not made; nice shower but slippery and no grab bars. poor reading light but that's a problem with most hotels these days.
