I used to rent from this location a lot before COVID19. Recently in the last year I've needed to start renting again. Last year I rented for pickup at 8am. Upon arrival there was nobody working the desk. Eventually a guy came in stating they did not open until 10am and he did me and a few others a favor and opened early. Hertz website and Google stated they open at 8am. Fast forward to February 2024. Rented again for two days. Upon arrival it was noted that they did not have the car class I requested and thus I'd be getting a free upgrade to the next available class. On my way back to return I double checked their closing hours on Hertz and Google. I arrived around 8:40pm and they had apparently closed at 8pm which is not what is listed on Hertz or Google. I noted the milage and time on the booklet for the drop box. Was emailed a receipt the next morning and was charged for an extra day because I dropped off after they closed, and then they charged me for my free upgrade. I called the location and they refused to help. I called Hertz corporate to dispute the charges. They can't do anything due to this location being independently owned. They've opened two cases to request action with the owner but have not received any response. Customer service has been absolutely terrible. Do no rent from this Joplin airport location or the other Joplin location on Rangeline Road as they appear to be owned by the same person.

Arrived today to pick up my rental reservation and there was nobody there working. The lights were off, and nobody had been there all day. Could not pick up rental. Instead, I had to go to Avis and pick up a car from them.

The owner of this Hertz location is shady at best. I originally reserved a Ram 1500 and a few days before I arrived, he called me and said they only had a Toyota Tacoma, which I was fine with. Upon arrival, I noticed a Toyota Tundra, which is more comparable than a Tacoma. This was an attempt to get more money from another customer, instead of honoring what I reserved.I dropped off the vehicle on time and dropped the keys in the drop box. To my surprise, I was charged an extra day. When I confronted the guy, he said that they only check the drop box once per day and as a result, I'm liable for the extra day, even though Hertz was in possession of the vehicle. The guy then proceeded to check the airport cameras to verify that I dropped the car off when I did and then said he'd reverse the charges "just this one time" as if he was doing me a favor. This business practice is unethical and quite frankly, illegal. Although I am allegedly getting a refund, I will monitor it and most likely will file a fraud claim with my credit card if the charges are not reversed within a week.Avoid renting from this location and the Rangeline location, as they are owned by the same person.

Representative refused to rent vehicle unless i purchased the insurance they offer for $26.99 / day. I wouldn’t have an issue paying it, problem is I had already purchased a “rider” car rental insurance to cover me the duration of my rental, which he insisted that wasn’t enough, I provided him with my own insurance policy which he kept insisting it wasn’t enough. I informed him my credit card would cover vehicle, he refused. I had no alternative than to purchase the insurance they offered. If at all possible STAY AWAY! you are better off with Avis next door

We reserved a car with Hertz to be dropped off at Mizzou Aviation, the FBO at Joplin Airport, where we would be arriving. This is standard practice for someone arriving in a private aircraft. Upon arrival, Hertz had not brought our car over so one of the Mizzou linemen drove my wife over to get the car from the airport commercial terminal. The agent there hurried her through the inspection process and told her not to worry about the scratches or condition as they never filed claims on anyone for anything. She normally videos the whole car but didn't, as (1) we were running late because they didn't deliver our car and (2) he was quite insistent that she was wasting time doing it. We returned the car two days later after very light use. A few days later I received a claim letter from Hertz's claim processer demanding $1600 in damages! The damages noted are for a piece of trim on the passenger mirror and two dents in the roof. I know we didn't do anything to incur those but since we accepted the car without noting them on the forms, we are being held liable for them. The damages are barely noticeable in the photos they sent so it's no surprise we wouldn't have seen them. The manager was absolutely unhelpful and dead set on us paying the claim, just repeating over and over that the car wasn't returned in the same condition it went out in. The damages are likely from two different incidents and we certainly did not do them. I would not recommended renting here, and if you do, take lots of photos of the car before and after you return it.

I’ve rented over 200 vehicles, this is the second to worst experience I’ve had. Customer service at this airport is non-existent and corporate cannot help me with issues because this is an independent hertz location. RUN Away!

I reserved a car over a month ago for Today. The Hertz location calls me today and says that they don’t have any one way cars to loan me. I asked how can that be, I have had a car reserved for over a month. The answer was they are a local company independently owned and couldn’t guarantee it. I asked so why let me reserve it. Answer was they “hoped” they would have one come in. I really “hope” they don’t run a business on “hope.” Needless to say, I would not recommend this location……they really have messed up my plans for the next 2 days. I hope they don’t run their business this way all the time.

UPDATE: changed to 1-star. Very poor handling of issues by Hertz Corp. They state nothing they can do since this is a franchise location out of their control. Car had only 3/4 tank of fuel on pick-up, had no washer fluid. Hertz desk had to hand-write out Rental Agreement, which took too much time. Otherwise, car was acceptable.

When I arrived at this rental location to pick up a one-way car associated with my confirmation number, I was told that they were not able to provide a car because this location is the Independent Licensee. As being your loyal customer, I am sorry to say that it was a very unprofessional business manner.

Returned my car at 10:18 on May 31 (drop off time was 10:30 on May 31) and no one was there. I took pictures when I dropped it off but was unable to get a receipt because no one was there when they should have been. I just got a receipt a week later with over $1000 extra saying my car was returned two days late In bentonville. I even called this location on Wednesday the 2nd to confirm it was returned in spot m6 when it was supposed to be and they said yes- granted, I should have called later on the 31st and again on the 1st instead of waiting until the 2nd, but this is ridiculous and dishonest. The lady at the Avis counter gave directions on how to return the car because no one was there and now I’m fighting with the corporate office trying to get these fraudulent charges removed.

Hertz went above and beyond to make my situation as smooth as possible. The city manager Corey was amazing with great customer service. I definitely recommend this car rental company over any other!!!!

The booking rep was incompetent and sent me on a wild goose chase because he couldn't find my info after a dealership reserved a vehicle for me. I told him to get someone else on the line after he demanded I put a card on file. Never have I had to do that when the dealership rents the vehicle. It makes perfect sense if I was renting it but it was 100% being rented by the dealership and dropped off at the dealership. The booking rep instantly whipped out his cell phone with a smirk and called his boss "Corey" - who was a hateful tool and thought I wouldn't research his bosses info and email him directly. Telling me "No you cant have Ronnie Morrows number, you can talk to me!" I left livid without a vehicle and will have to miss work because of this place. I will be using my day off to follow up with Ronnie and whomever else I have to because of this garbage experience.

If I could give a negative star rating I would.I had a flight get cancelled and had to get to a different airport. I called Hertz and they said it would be a $12.99 fee (as it states on the website). I receive my bill and I have a $500 additional charge and told its because I dropped the car off at another airport. Apparently this isn't Hertz Corporate, it is a franchise location and they do not allow that.1) They did not try to work with me at all. They recognized that Hertz was misleading and I essentially couldn't have known. I even offered to pay a partial fee.2) Called Hertz support while trying to make a flight and they told me the charge, plus it is on the website (see photo). Its a design to get people to pay extra large fees that they are not aware of.3) I was told that I should always read the fine print of every contract signed which is absurd. Theoretically , yes, but they know well and clear none of their customers are going to read pages of legal jargon. Especially when I called the number on my billing statement.4) When I asked at their counter they said they weren't sure and to contact hertz, which apparently I was not supposed to do.Really unfortunate to treat customers like that. I don't have huge spending power with them or any empty threat like that, but its just poor business practices. Please beware.
