I am updating my previous review. I couldn't find the original review to edit, so I'm writing a new one. After some large concerns, I was pleased that Scruggs called me the next day and really listened to my concerns and we came to a resolution. I want to stay with local companies in my town! Scruggs has earned back my trust and I will use them again. Thank you, Scruggs, for your responsiveness.

Poor communication on quotes, follow-up, no contact when orders were late, no template provided to contractors, then get a follow-up bill randomly sent to the wrong address 2 months late items picked up. I used them before 15 years ago, found out they installed my bathroom flooring, they "covered up" a leak when then resulted in a sinking floor years later. The price was twice as high as anywhere else in town - I thought it was due to the installation included in the price - they are hometown so I wanted to use them. My other remodel was fantastic, this was a black eye and I'm very disappointed with the service.

A Factual Review: Our washing machine secretly flooded under our kitchen flooring. ServPro came out and removed the damaged flooring and cleaned everything. Scruggs Floor Covering Design (SFCD) told us they would remove the remaining flooring to put down new underlayment before installing the new flooring. After a couple of weeks SFCD finally began the job. The installer did not remove the rest of the old flooring and installed the new flooring over it. After running out of flooring, because enough wasn't ordered, they would come back the following week to finish up. That same day we realized there was a slope under the new flooring because the old flooring, they said would be removed, was a little higher than the new flooring. We told SFCD immediately and they informed us it would be fixed the following week. When the installer came back to finish the job, they were not informed of the slope at all and refused to take the flooring back up to fix the problem. The installer cut the carpet padding too short and wasn't careful when finishing up the flooring. Because proper measurements weren't taken, another box of flooring needed to be ordered to again finish the job. The installer became angry and walked out after refusing to fix the floor. After a phone call with the SFCD person, we realized they were not being honest with us. None of our concerns were taken seriously and were swept under the rug even when we began CC'ing the owners. Our SFCD person began typing professional emails once the owners were involved however the dishonesty persisted. The second installer who finished the job fixed a squeak in our floor (hence the 1 star), but said in order to fix the flooring now, everything would need to be torn out, concrete laid and then the floor would be level with the problem all of a sudden being a low wall joist. If the old flooring would have been removed, like they said they would, then a low wall joist wouldn't have mattered. The Flooring Design person we worked with is terrible at their job and many around JC have told us the same. The owners never reached out to show any signs of concern or empathy. We encourage everyone to find another company to work with instead of one that is just riding on it's good name in Jefferson City.UPDATE: After investigating a small puddle of water near our dish washer, I took off the bottom plate and found that the installer removed the new flooring from under the dish washer to try and finish the rest of the flooring that there wasn't enough product for. We should be refunded some labor since the installer literally removed labor from the job.

I loved working with Michele Higgins! From day one, she was so helpful! Soon after talking to her at Scruggs, she came to our house and answered all of my questions! She listened to my ideas and brought samples for flooring, backsplash and countertops for us to select from! She quickly coordinated the material orders and work with the contractor (who was also terrific). She made the process stress-free! I highly recommend working with Michele and Scruggs Lumber!!
