Update: They still suck. Spotty connections, unexplained outages, random upcharges without notice. They absolutely WILL change your plan to charge you for things you dont use. (They added a landline charge to my bill after 2 years of service thinking I wouldnt notice. They never credited my account back either. Just stealing money from their customers.) They are scum, and conveniently, the only option in town.I’ve recently become a customer of Mediacom and I would not recommend this company to anyone. I’ve had techs come out and tell me that they hate working for mediacom because they don’t pay them fairly and they treat their customers like trash. I’ve had the customer service line hang up on me twice now, not while on the phone with anyone, just because the company was too busy and after waiting 10 - 15 mins on hold just hanging up. The local office hung up on their own supervisor while he was trying to figure out what was happening with my account. The customer service is probably the worst I’ve ever had to deal with. They shuffle you around like crazy, and by the end of the night you end up talking to a supervisor in Florida that tells you they will call you back and then they just don’t (amazingly, this has happened three different times now...) It’s like watching one of those train wreck dramas where you just can’t believe it could be that bad and somehow it consistently gets worse. At least you will be able to entertain yourself while you are without service for the upcoming weeks or months depending on how “fast” they can get a service tech out to you to tell you they can’t fix it and you’ll have to call customer services again. Seriously, if you are in the Jeff City area and can deal with DSL from Century Link, do it. You will not get good service from this company.

Wifi service does not work. Has been going out every 30 minutes for months. They will not service outside of work hours. Horrible company.

So I got switched to prime internet cause I wasn't paying 110$ for a phone I didn't have the lady on the phone was nice she change me to a cheaper internet package with the same amount of speed and gb internet the last package i had. but I'm not paying 110$ I want that statement on my account etracted, I only use the internet nothing else

Constant packet loss, ping spikes, and blackouts. Unfortunately this ISP is all many have access to... being forced to pay for subpar internet. (update a year later: it is still beyond horrible deserves zero stars.)

I pay $120 for gigabit internet a month. Imagine my frustration when said internet goes down at least THREE times a day! Good lord. I'm genuinely surprised to see my internet not go down for a day. That's how bad it is. I would switch, but you don't really have a choice when living in Jeff City.While setting up the internet, they sent a guy down to give me a router. It did not work after he left. Called them again and he gave me a new one. Did not work either. The third time they gave me a different router which finally worked. Trash technicians.That price alone is atrocious. Usually, gigabit is $100. Not for Mediacom! I decided to write this review after my "internet" went offline while spending two hours playing a game which requires an internet connection*, trying to enjoy my day off, only for said game to kick me off due to one of the many outages that occur with my internet. There goes two hours I will never get back. $120 for unreliable internet. What a joke of a company and what a joke of an internet service.*I was attempting to complete the Call of Duty Black Ops 3: Origins easter egg solo. Those of you who know what I am talking about also know this takes hours to complete solo. If you lose internet connection AT ALL, the game boots you to the menu. Remember: I am paying $120 a MONTH! I expect $120 a month quality internet!

Can I give a zero star review? Terrible customer service...should have checked these reviews before ordering. Installer never got the job done, so I gave up and returned the equipment. After reading these comments, it appears I dodged a bullet. And no Mediacom, I will not change my rating, so don't bother asking me to.

Updating my Post to call out another OUTSTANDING service from Mediacom… Zack McKinney buries cable for Mediacom. What an incredible young man. I had a potential issue with the way one of my cables have been buried and Zack refused to let it be anything less than perfect. The work ethic and dedication is refreshing and sorely missed throughout our country. People like Zack remind me why I moved back to this area. You don’t get service and dedication like that in any big cities I’ve ever lived in well done Zack! and Mediacom… If you haven’t given this young man a raise for taking personal pride, and offering a little more of his own time to make things perfect… Please consider doing something to make his service more worth his while. If other companies saw his integrity… they would certainly try to steal him. I know I would!Original Post:Internet and phone does not meet my standards in Jefferson City. We need more towers. I paid less in Washington DC (military guy) in the most expensive county to live in in the United States than I do here in Jefferson City… That being said there is one man that definitely deserves a call out and I give him FIVE STARS!Danny, Tech 72, was sent out by our local Mediacom, to assess and resolve my Internet issues. It was the most thorough Internet appointment I’ve ever had. He was aggressive at making certain I would not have to call back and even gave options just in case we still needed to push harder towards even a better signal.He did not make excuses for how my internet was initially installed. He just made an assessment of what he saw “right now” during my appointment and gave options that he would do if it were his house.This man was clearly here to serve and for that he definitely gets FIVE STARS for our local Mediacom here in Jefferson City, Missouri Well done Danny!VrJeffrey N. Called for tech support. Had someone from the Philippines answer. They could not understand. Said my phone service was breaking in and out. I told her it was on their end. Kind of explains why they have issues. She called me back said she could hear me but when we started to talk she said I was breaking up again. Sigh. I don’t believe she really understands English let alone tech support.

Rude customer service half the time, unknown reasons for charges, Security equipment not yet installed because they want to charge me for mistakes they made. It has been 2+ months of dealing with them, I'm tired...Update: after just a few hours, my debit card has been charged once again, even though I had a 50 dollar credit. I'm finding another company...

Internet went out … 10 seconds went to window and watched tech roll up line from box and drive away. Called it in and got run around lies and told they could get tech out next day. Then called to say not enough man power wait 4 days … more lies and denials! Trash Company with trash customer service!!!!!

Never again will we use or recommend Mediacom. They sent a tech out to disconnect our service, our fault for paying an old bill and still owed $22. When we called immediately to resolve it we were told we now had to pay over $200 to get it back on and it would take a week and a half to send someone out. We never complained about the days we went without because they had plenty of outages, we never complained about the constant price increases or the many times my husband had to sit on the phone with support because the modem they supplied us with had issues. Here we are having to wait for service to be connected while him being a disabled vet and can't get around very well and the family currently on quarantine. Do you think they care NO Mediacom doesn't care! Time to switch and let our friends and family know how we were treated..
