I wish I could give them a zero. We had to have roofs replaced because of a storm. The city had a code that stated the decking needed to be replaced. The insurance company did not cover it, even though it was required by the city. We never used the insurance before and have been loyal customers. Looks like we need to find a new insurance company. In my opinion, the decking is very much apart of replacing a roof. We went way over budget on the replacement. They wouldn’t even work with us. Very awful place to have insurance. Save yourself money and heartache, go with a company that will actually pay claims. They take our money every month but when we need them, it’s like they gave us the middle finger.

I had a recent claim the other driver was at fault and their insurance provider refused to pay the claim for my repairs. Julie Pieratt was my claim advisor and champion throughout the entire process. She arranged for Auto-Owners to pay for the repairs and let me chose a local shop. She kept me up to date on the status of the claim and the subrogation attempts with the other driver's insurance. In the end, the other driver's company paid the claim after demands were sent. Julie was my advocate in the process and I really valued the time she saved me going back and forth with both companies. Excellent customer service!!!!

Dealing with this business is an absolute nightmare if you are involved in an accident with of of their customers. My daughter was involved in an accident on January 27th, she wasn't informed until Feb 21st that they were considering her car a total loss, which is my opinion is an absolute joke. Multiple calls, never returned, and her claim rep is never in the office. If you are considering using them for your auto insurance, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

We were recommended to them by our brokers because they offered the best deal.My wife was involved in an accident in May, 2023, in the first year of our contract with them. I was impressed with their lightning quick response to her, adjustment, and settlement. But then after two weeks or so it was as if all contact dropped off. We can’t get an email or call returned. This is concerning as the other party has been sending their bills and such now and getting testy. Our broker seems puzzled. So even though their initial response was terrific I will not likely renew because their communication has been lousy in follow up. Disappointed.

Was involved in a messy 22+ car pileup on 470 back in February 2023. Was like bumper cars, probably an adjusters worst nightmare. Well my nightmare began when I allowed auto owners the space to do their jobs ( I have my own high stress job to deal with.) Unfortunately the ball was dropped when I noticed on my auto owners app that the claim was settled (about late July 2023 I noticed the change.) I called my agent informing him that I’d was closed, now when should my lien holder receive payment. Long story short apparently Auto owners forgot about me and the new adjuster was assigned and thought the claim was already paid out…hum nope! Now I get this silly low ball offer on my totaled out 2016 Honda Civic. Sick of fighting the fight for people to do their jobs. And yes Barbara (new adjuster) I am fully aware that you personally didn’t drop the ball but you represent a company. There is so much more as in they never notified my lien holder the vehicle was totaled (could have saved money.) Never talk about extended warranty refund (could have saved money.) Paid double sales tax because no paperwork of totaled out was ever given. I will get the taxes back after but now I got to deal with state - doesn’t that sound like fun ?. If you have time to micromanage then auto owners may be for you but if you don’t then my suggestion would find a company that has capable employees to do their jobs. September 8, 2023 - still no pay outs. Damn y’all where are you at ?

Claim rep Julie P. has been phenomenal to work with! She’s made the entire process smooth and easy - from start to finish! Claims are stressful, but she took that stress off my shoulders and handled business for my family and I. She’s amazing!

I highly recommend Auto Owners Insurance. Upon contacting them regarding my fender bender professional and efficient assistance was offered by Julie Pieratt. Getting my SUV repaired was seamless. Great company.

I got crunched by someone who has this insurance, and Julie P. provided absolutely outstanding customer service while my repairs were made. This company was fantastic to deal with. So incredibly helpful and will make me think about switching to Auto-Owners in future, if you have incredible employees like Julie P!

CJ was the best person I have ever dealt with on the phone. She was very helpful and pleasant. I could tell that she really wanted to help. I can't tell you what a pleasant experience this was.

As a property adjuster of 15 years, I have very high expectations to what constitutes good claims service. To say we are impressed with the claims service CJ provided would be an understatement! CJ was prompt, courteous and empathetic to our situation. I highly recommend Auto-Owners.

We will definitely not be renewing. We were in a minor accident and our vehicle was labeled a total loss. Besides the fact that they have been extremely difficult to get a hold of and don't honor their policy/verbal agreements (said they would cover a rental car for 30 days/$900, then only offered one for three weeks, then informed us on a Thursday that they were only covering it until Monday for a total of a week and a half), they had our vehicle towed from the collision center on a Friday afternoon to an unknown location without allowing us to get our personal belongings. This wouldn't be as big of a deal if we had signed our title over to them and they owned the vehicle (still not customer service oriented but at least legal) but we still own the vehicle. I'm sure its hard for any auto insurance agency to get positive reviews but this company is on another level of bad/shady. I would HIGHLY recommend you don't do business with them.
