They would rather let clearly unfit unstable mothers have the care of children with bad figures around going against a court order because they don't want to be involved.

I consented to my car being searched yesterday. The cop pulled me over for expired tags so I could have said no. Well he searched and tore pieces of my car up. I just got my car back and there were pieces of foam all over the floorboard. The cops weren't mean at all but that doesn't mean they can tear my property up. I have pictures, a lawyer, and statements from the tow company. I need to know where I can file a complaint.

First time traffic ticket. First ticket of my life! I was denied the video evidence, talked and looked at like I was guilty. Good to know a good functioning member of society with a clean record is guilty until proved innocent. Not to mention they told me to get a lawyer! For failure to yield, they wouldn't tell me how many points as it would be giving me 'legal advice'. No warning, no talking about the charge. Judge said, I'd reccomend a lawyer and that was it.

Great department that cares about cleaning up the streets and removing the drugs that have seemingly taken over areas of this town. Most of the officers I have had contact with were polite and professional.Every department everywhere is going to have folks unhappy with them, as they dont get to hand out giftcards and happy endings normally. However they care. Give them the respect they deserve.

I would like to thank Officer Laughlin Badge # 928 for taking my pocket knifeduring a traffic stop on 3/8/19 at 10:35am and not returning it.That knife was given to me by my Father right before his death in 2006. Todayis the first day in the last 12 years that I haven't had it with me, and yesit is weighing on my emotions quite heavily. I'm sure my missing frontlicense plate, lost during a "Deer vs Truck" incident a couple of days prior, was plenty of justification for taking my personal property. The ESPD hasmade lasting impression on me, and I'll be thinking of them every timeI reach for my Father's knife discover it's not with me anymore.Gary Smith

Maybe I should have read the reviews before driving in this town. I was attending a wedding at the ELM's, pulling in to the parking lot, i and in to a spot when an officer pulled behind me. Nothing more embarrassing than lights in the area you are getting out to got in to a wedding. He said I didn't stop at a stop sign. Why couldn't he just say," I need you to make sure you stop." No, to add insult to injury, he wrote up a ticket. Taking even longer, lights and a second car, how embarrassing. I was so irritated, I didn't attend the wedding. I have no previous record of violations. I hope it was worth it! I won't be back to Excelsior Springs.

Why am I required to rate this organization with "1?" That would seem to imply they were helpful. So I received a stop sign ticket. I made a California stop. My bad. My first ticket in 15 years and only the third I've had in my entire life. The issue: we have been stopped 4 times in this town in 2 years. It is ridiculous.I requested to see the video and express my concerns with the police:1. My husband and I were walking our two 4-pound pomeranians at the park by Crown Hill cemetary at 8:15 pm. Not one, but two police vehicles pulled in sideways and spotlighted us. They asked what we were doing at the park. Then told us to hurry up. We were already walking to our car. They followed us out of the park. Officer Conley was one of the officers.2. My husband works at Ford overnight. At 3:30 am on his way to work, he was at the red stoplight at Crown Hill. He waited and waited. When the light didn't change, he turned right without a turn signal. He got a ticket for not using his signal. Officer Conley.3. A few weeks later, my husband was coming HOME from Ford at 4:30 am and he was pulled over and questioned why he was out at that time. Uh, working just like you.4. It is RARE that you see anyone in this town pulled over with less than 2 or 3 officers also there.I calmly and politely expressed these concerns to the Lieutenant who, while initially pleasant, became irate and informed me that they are getting shot and killed and that is why they do these things. He then told me I was "free to leave" and told me to get out of the PUBLIC building. Of course, another officer came over to assist and told me I wasn't allowed in their "private area." All of this in front of my 15 year old daughter. I am sure she now has a very good impression of the police. I also videorecorded this entire incident on my phone in case anyone tries to dispute that this happened. And just to be clear, I am not a person with ANY criminal history. I am an attorney that operated my own law office in Butler, Missouri and have had extensive experience with municipal officers. I have always been on a friendly basis or on a respectful basis with them. I have never, never been treated like I have by the officers in this town. And it is VERY, VERY apparent that the attitude is from the top down.

Growing up in DC I have a negative relationship with police. Independence was not as bad, but still a lot of hard nose cops. Here in Excelsior it has been a breath of fresh air. The Police here seem different. The Chief is hiring and training well his staff. Excelsior is a small but growing town, and I can say I am so happy we decided to move here. The police over the last year and a few months are great.
