Beautiful area, kept nice for all who use it.... It's nice that rest areas exist like this, taking a break, and enjoying a snack, using the bathroom is a nice benefit while on the road...there need to be more places like it on highway....when you leave populated areas.

It is very clean and tidy for an older rest area. Plenty of parking. Lots of times rest areas like this are a God send for truckers who can't find a spot to park.

Convenient rest stop right when I needed it. Lots of parking, 24 hour restrooms, many covered and uncovered picnic tables and a good amount of trees. They have a couple vending machines that are securely protected behind locked bars spaced wide enough for you to reach your prize. My dogs especially appreciated the Pet Comfort Areas (a fancy name for grassy areas they can do their duties in).

Nice bathroom, limited vending, ample parking with low lights and spots where the lights don't shine brightly in the cars for those sleeping. The southbound is closed as of 10/08/23

Slept in our camper here overnight. A couple with a baby asked us for some money and offered us some wax to smoke as long as we had a butane torch lighter because they left there's in Minnesota to beat all. We didn't have cash, just an elaborate coffee machine my wife hoisted on her back and carried into the ladies restroom to make our fancy cups of coffee before getting back on the road. We had encountered these people at the exit before the rest area as they had wanted to meet our dogs and let our miniature dachshund lick her baby's droopy diaper and mouth. "We never thought he would be able walk cause his daddy punched me in the stomach when I was pregnant," she said to my wife, "this is his new daddy." She pointed over to a squirrelly fellow propped up on the minivan who saluted me with two fingers and a single nod."Back at you bub," I thought. It was an odd enough encounter to note since they popped up several miles later and slept by us in their van. Not quite hot enough to be uncomfortable.

Easy off and on overnight parking. Clean and well maintained. Being an older rest area, the parking for large trucks is extremely close to the freeway. Road noise is constant, so if you are a light sleeper, a truck stop in Platte City or St. Joseph will be quiet and offer meal options.

Good rest stop for a cross country drive, Slept in the back of my rental for 5 hours without issue or disturbamces.
