This is a great little stop for high-quality, fresh produce. Pricing is pretty reasonable, maybe a bit on the expensive side, but you definitely get what you pay for. At the very least it’s worth a look around, and I highly recommend buying at least one of the jars of jam.

We got a fresh Turkey for Thanksgiving...we didn't realize how much difference is in fresh vs frozen...will never buy frozen again, plus it's local...hoping fresh prime rib as x-mas dinner will be available...

The weekly food box subscription is such a neat concept. My husband and I are cooking more often now and with vegetables we would never have chosen at the grocery store.If you don't like or are allergic to something in the box, they will allow you to substitute items.I definitely recommend giving it a try!The only downside is that their pickup hours don't start until noon.

Beware of subscription box. I subscribed, fulfilled the four box requirement, and billing for box continued. I paused subscription and was still charged. I canceled subscription and was still charged.

I love my subscription with Root Cellar. The variety, freshness & frequency are prefect for my family. And supporting local farmers and knowing where my food comes from is very important to me. Staff & iespecially owners are friendly and helpful. I almost always shop for specialty items & gifts when I pick up my boxes. I highly recommend Root Cellar.

I subscribed to the barnyard and bounty box. I’ve been highly disappointed. A lot of the produce looks bad when I pick it up. I have to cook many things immediately. Well, the produce is supposed to be for the week. I assumed I would be getting premium produce, meat, and dairy for a premium price, but I feel as though I’m getting the produce that can’t be sold in stores due to imperfections and spoiling . . . at a premium price. I have received poor customer service as well. I was told I’d receive two broccoli heads with my last order, for example. I only received one, and when I called, the lady was like, “well, the woman who said that misspoke, or the head of broccoli was so big we only gave you one, or, or . . .” Okayyyy, lady! I get it! You don’t want to help your customer. No worries. I won’t be one for long! The “policies” at the store are different every time I go to the store. I could go on, but you get my point. It’s been an overall bad experience and I wish I lived near St. Charles so I could be part of the CSA my friend belongs to, but alas, it will be the farmers market for me. I understand now why this business was failing a few years ago.

They have a pretty good variety of stuff for being so small. I even found some cool drink-mixing sets I was able to give as a Christmas gift to my siblings. Plenty of interesting things to choose from on top of the basics!

I typically purchase Bi-Weekly food boxed from here for a variety I may not normally choose at the store. I was satisfied with everything I have received until this last week. I received a bug infested food box(yum). At least three of the seven items I received were items I had to let go of and to me that was 1/2 of my subscription. Seems lately they have been giving the leftovers which is unfortunate. Hope for others they don’t receive items like I did. For now, I’ll be spending my $40 elsewhere
