Not a good experience and I will not be taking my pets here again. I took my dog in to see Dr. Hussey to discuss allergy symptoms and dental work that I wanted to get my dog scheduled for. Dr. Hussey prescribed a steroid for my dog to take and advised a potential and likely side effect would be increased urination and thirst. By the time the appointment was coming to an end, there was a fair amount of discussion regarding my dogs known conditions and getting the steroid provided for allergy relief. The Dr. failed to discuss the dental work with me during the visit and it was made clear during appointment scheduling and start of appointment that I wanted to discuss this. I will take responsibility in forgetting to ask at the end of the appointment, as I forgot as I was focused on the information the Dr. provided regarding the allergies. However, it is the Dr's responsibility to cover all aspects of the appointment, not mine. After 2 days of my dog being on the steroid he experienced extreme stomach pains and excessive diarrhea. I immediately stopped giving my dog the prescription, and the stomach pains and diarrhea continued for several days. The Dr. failed to tell me that a common side effect of the steroid can be GI Tract issues and diarrhea. If the Dr had advised this during the appointment, I would not have taken the risk of putting my dog on this medication. I came to discover this was a side effect by performing a Google search on the medication's FAQ's. I should've looked up all side effects before I left the vet but again, it is of my opinion it is the responsibility of the Dr to cover all potential common side effects which Dr. Hussey failed to do.Dr. Hussey advised during the appointment there is another allergy medication that can be prescribed if the steroid didn't work but it was higher in cost. I advised cost was not an issue and I want what will give my dog relief. Turns out the other medication recommended by the Dr was given to my dog in the past with no issues as it is in his medical records which I reviewed after the appointment with the Dr searching for a new vet to help my dog as I didn't trust the Dr with my pets anymore. The Dr has these medical records in office and I think it would have been good for the Dr to go with what has worked for my dog in the past instead of taking a risk on a different medication. Overall, it is of my opinion the Dr didn't perform basic due diligence and provide information, which is the responsibility of any Dr. I will never take my pets here again nor any Horton location.

I’ve come here twice for my older cat, Ester. The first time was just to establish care and get her up to date on vaccines. The reception desk, techs, and vet were all so kind to me and my cat and took time to answer questions and concerns I had. They were also conscious and understanding that I’m a student with limited funds and were up front about costs. The second time I went was last week and my cat was really sick (pooping everywhere, poop in blood, lethargic). They talked with me with their concerns, gave her a diagnosis, and altered her diet within an hour. Within two days she was brand new and better than before. I am so thankful for this amazing staff.

I went to this Vet many years ago when I last lived in Columbia. Took my new pup there and the staff and Doctor couldn't have been nicer and professional.

Dr. Hussey is an excellent veterinarian, and the office staff is friendly and professional. She has given me honest, helpful advice for all my pets over the years. Dr. Hussey has a genuine talent for really listening and putting things in perspective. She has even taken the time to call and check on my big guy after surgery. Dr. Hussey is amazing, and I am lucky to have her as my vet.

Best vet around. Columbia has some decent vets, so this says a lot. I have used Dr. Hussey for years for both veterinary services and boarding.

Dr. Hussey is wonderful. She took care of our cat, offered suggestions, and even called two weeks later after the antibiotics would be over to see how Cat was doing. I love Dr. Hussey!

We were newer to Columbia and hadn't gotten a vet yet when another animal hospital recommended Horton. Our dog (15+ years old) was having seizures and we knew the time had come. The vet was very kind & gave up her lunch to put our dog at peace. The staff was very nice and compassionate.

After 8 years of taking my toy poodle to R Veterinary I finally got tired of the ever changing veterinarians, the new unfriendly staff and the price hikes (I was quoted $500+ to $800+ for her most recent dental). I know pricing on everything has increased, but my dog has been getting annual dentals at this clinic for 8 years and I have NEVER paid that much.A few of my friends take their dogs to Horton, so I decided to start take mine there too. We had our first appointment last Saturday and my only regret is that I didn’t make the switch sooner!Dr. Hussey is friendly and very knowledgeable. I really appreciate that she takes time to explain things thoroughly and provide you with all of your options. She even recommended a medication that can help heal my dog’s heart, that our last vet never mentioned. The entire staff is friendly and the clinic is exceptionally clean.Additionally, I want to say that their pricing is extremely fair! Princess had her dental yesterday and I paid hundreds less than I was quoted at our previous vet.If I could give Horton Animal Hospital 10 ⭐️, I would!

I’ve been taking my dog Leeroy here since I moved to CoMo in 2016. Recently he needed surgery to remove some growths and they did a great job! He was fully recovered 2 weeks later and was no longer irritated by his growths. The staff was very responsive to my questions post-surgery and the surgery itself was reasonably priced.

Each Horton's is indepently owned. Each doctor and atmosphere and approach are different. They are just using the name recognition at each location. The one in I70 Dr. Southwest, in Columbia, MO, us the one I ended up at. They were wer3 remodeling long the outside; digging / breakingng up concrete walk, entrance ways. The reception8st came out qnd sh9wed me h9w t I walk to the door. Just filled out initial paperwork discussed services and made appointment to return for services next weekm. The receptionist was intelligent, kind, professional.
