We had a great time and a good nights sleep in the Hawthorne Room. Brittany and Carol are great hosts. Carol invited me into her kitchen to watch, learn and have fun. Be sure to relax in their Library or Gazebo. Caledonia is a small town but very walkable from the B&B and the shops they do have are well run and very interesting. Highly recommend option for Chef Carol's dinner.

My wife and I spent the night in the Hawthorne room and it was just lovely. The bed was super comfortable with the softest pillows. The AC was nice and cold and we slept really well which doesn't always happen when staying away from home.
Our breakfast was fantastic and we highly recommend staying and exploring the little village of Caledonia and the Mark Twain National Forest nearby.

My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to get away this year for our 15th anniversary. We have been to other B&Bs and hotels with fine amenities, and just last year we traveled through Germany, Switzerland & France. Let me tell you — this place reminded me of the personal, country hospitality you find in Europe with the comfort of being in Midwest America. Carol is an amazing chef, using organic & local ingredients, and Brittany, OJ and Alicia were also so hospitable. Each breakfast had two courses, and the hot portion was different each day. We also splurged on two multi-course dinners, and one afternoon tea, all so wonderfully presented and personal. We took advantage of the sauna, their beautiful grounds and the library every day. All this, less than 2 hours from Scott AFB, IL (St. Louis) and they offer a military discount. I would love to make this an annual stop! What a gem!!

Why would you ever stay at a hotel? Everything about this place was top notch; from the beautifully prepared food, the spacious and adorable rooms, hot tub, sauna, and pond on the grounds. It felt so cozy so relaxing beautiful historical really special place.

We recently stayed at the B&B for a wedding getaway and it was an incredible experience. I usually don't write reviews, but I was blown away, so I had to. The Inn is beautiful, meticulously clean and the rooms are spacious. The bed was comfortable and we loved having a soaker tub.
The owners are so friendly and accommodating. The best part though??
The FOOD. The breakfast was delicious. Do yourself a favor and ask the staff to prepare your lunch/dinner one night. It will be worth the price and then some. The food was incredible. Everything was homemade and flavorful. We'll definitely be back.

The minute I walked in, I felt at home. Michael, the innkeeper and chef, made me felt welcome. The accommodations were beautiful, bed was comfy, the food was beyond delicious. I went there to just relax, decompress, and spend time in the beautiful setting and, of course, interact with the animals. I was the only guest there from Monday morning till Tuesday morning and I enjoyed having the opportunity to chat with Michael. When I left, I felt I was leaving a friend! I will be back!

The location is in the heart of the town, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms in the rooms OPEN decor. The hot tub was not working and we did not try the sauna. If you’re going and you expect to see some farm animals, they have been moved. Our meals were delicious, you won’t be disappointed. The gardens need a little more attention, Trimming, more flower boxes, etc. Not far from Elephant Rock. All in all, I think you will enjoy you time here.Here.

Everyone gives great reviews, I mostly agree with the comments; however, there are some things that can be improved and people be made aware of.Food quality and presentation is very perfect, just be prepared for goat cheese.Rooms DO NOT have a shower, for a large man this does become an issue.DO NOT book any room other than the purple room. Believe it or not, at night / early morning there is a ridiculous amount of large truck traffic. J-braking, peeling out, making a ridiculous amount if noise. To the point that they issue ear plugs so you can sleep. Come on Caledonia .... do something about this if you want tourists to come back repeatedly. Some grounds maintenance could also be done, trimming low hanging branches, etc. Also .... no where on their site does it indicate that a automatic 20% tip will be added to your bill at checkout. The $80 per meal, for two, was already pushing the value / cost boundary plus the guest was already spending multiple nights there.Bottom line is this ..... it was a neat old stay, but we will not be back.
