“This review is long overdue, but I wanted to share my deep appreciation for Melissa, one of the managers, and two other staff members whose names I can’t remember, unfortunately. : ( DSW (online) sent me the wrong size shoe, but by the time I received the order, my size was sold out. Melissa kindly said she would honor the price as soon as I found a different pair that was similar. More than that, she gave me great tips on shoe brands in terms of quality/longevity when I was at the store looking. She was warm, professional, and approachable!!! I left the store feeling happy. Such a simple thing, such a human thing, to have and appreciate an interaction with a kind person who knows her job and how to treat people well. I, for one, don’t want to live in a world in which we all stare at phones to do everything, including shopping. I like going into a place to look, touch, and see an item and solicit input from people with expertise. We won’t have those places if we don’t all support them!
Most importantly, we ALL need social connection for our well-being, and we all need social cohesion to live in a complex society, together. It’s not just about supporting a business or a store that you appreciate; it’s about how we all get along. And Melissa made a difference to me and how I felt, and I can carry that to the next person with whom I interact! This is why I appreciated her so much, and why I wanted to write this review even though it’s several months late. Thank you so very much, Melissa. Everyone reading this, go to this DSW.
