Dr. Hood has spayed, neutered and vaccinated at least 20 cats for us and 1 dog without any trouble, and that's saying a lot considering all of these cats have been indoor/outdoor or full on barn cats with a strong aversion to humans and being caged! I moved to Springfield about 5 year ago and still drive out there (a full hour) for all of our cat needs. He's saved the life of my dog twice (Xylitol poisoning and animal attack) and now that she's 15 yrs old, he's also been spot on with her after a stroke and her having several fatty tumors. Had we gone to a different vet they would have made us do surgery, but Dr.Hood knew the dangers of surgery on older dogs. I'm so glad he took the safer "do no harm" approach (gave us the choice) because my brother's dog had the same issues, their vet did the surgery, and their dog went into a spiral of health issues and was eventually put down, which I later read commonly happens In older dogs. 13 years of him being our vet and it's been nothing but good results and the staff working to accommodate our special needs with cats.

No stars for me !! We brought our puppy in that had just recently had shots.. we told them the puppy was having trouble breathing so we let them care for him overnight we thought he would be safer..but no the idiot's put hard dog food down and he literally choked to death because he couldn't breathe!! I wouldn't trust them with your fur baby! Although this happend years ago I thought I should share our experience

We found this Clinic when my fur baby was 17 years and 8 months and we didn't know how to help her. She had been ill for several weeks/months and we had tried to help her but we didn't have any idea what to do. WE decided it was time let her go -- she unable to use the litter box or eat so we called and made an appointment. One of the worst days of my life. Dr. Hodd and the nurse were fantastic!! Caring and supportive even with me crying uncontrollably. Fortunately my husband stayed with our fur baby while she crossed the rainbow bridge. I tried. Dr. Hodd and the nurse made her comfortable (she had wasted away to barely a couple of pounds). She was ready. He helped her make a smooth painless peaceful transition across the bridge. We will always be grateful for Dr. Hodd and the nurse that came in with him. I was a little concerned at first with the lady at the front desk--she seemed new--but rest of the staff were wonderful!!! Thank you!!

These people could care less about your animals you will be lucky if they don't kill them. they misdiagnosed one of our dogs and killed her because they are lazy and wouldn't do any real tests, she had cancer.and we are unsure if our cat will make it after a neuter where he aspirated vomit and they let him lay in it he developed pneumonia and is skin and bone now and acts like he had a stroke over a simple procedure they couldn't get right.they diddnt send him with any meds after his procedure.when I called to take him back cause something was clearly wrong that fat cow who answered the phone said not from surgery must be something else wrong with him. We are nursing him back to health and he is looking better after 2 weeks of antibiotics and feeding with a syringe. Please consider a different vet these people are dangerous and your pets are family.

I had to have my little dog Gracie put down, last Saturday. This vet was terrible, he didn't put a port in her front leg, just put the shot directly into her vain, the needle was too large, I am guessing. When he pulled it out she start bleeding everywhere. Then he did the same with her left front leg, my little dog, whimpered and cried from him hurting her. She was bleeding from both legs too. I told him that, this was cruel and inhuman, he never even acknowledged me. My little dog did not deserve to die that horrible painful death. I called the office Monday to complain and basically I got an " I don't care " attitude. I will never take another animal to this place.
