I use Cavanaugh Pet Hospital to both provide medical care and boarding for my 130lb Mastiff. They provide awesome care, I defintely recommend them.

My dog has severe separation anxiety and I had to board him for a day. The staff was very accommodating and made sure that he felt safe. I will definitely use them again!!

06/11/2024 Very disappointed. We have been customers for more than I can remember with numerous animals and this is the first time we have been so disappointed in the clinic that we are leaving a poor review.
We took our dog 'Bear' in as he started having seizures, a scary thing when your wife's $$$$ boutique dog stiffens up like a board, spasms, eyes roll back, jaw locked with a bloody tongue and urinates everything in him all over the spot the seizure is taking place. Never happened before, now 4 times in the last 30 hours we know about. Dr. Brittany Hedrick (DVM) who examined him explained we may not know what is causing them but there is medication (Levetiracetam) that may reduce the frequency and duration (thus a better quality of life). She said she would "call in the Rx" to pick up this evening and I gave her our pharmacy information ("Walmart on Coronado Dr., just down the street")
Well the vets office is now closed and after visiting our pharmacy in person, no medication. They did an extensive search under the pets name, our names and checked with other pharmacy techs to see if that medication was filled by anyone...nada, zilch, nothing. No call from the vet was received, they even called another store, nothing. The appointment was at 3pm, left at 4pm stopped at pharmacy at 6:30pm now 7pm and pharmacy closed.
Absolutely horrible follow-up especially after what that office visit and lab cost out of pocket! Beware, if your pet needs some medication promptly then try a different place, perhaps they will be a little more pro active. Absolutely irritating to be put off like that as if to say they would get around to it maybe, if not maybe the next day (remember people work and now another whole day will pass before getting off work and getting to the pharmacy). Plenty of room for improvement, do better next time, I don't know what is going on but it's not the outstanding service we've received in the past before Dr. Cavanaugh retired.
Update 06/14/24: Received call from Teri at Cavanaughs, thinking they were following up to see how the dog was, instead she was upset Dorthys house fell on her sister. The "Response from the owner" comment below was not the conversation from the phone call, quite the opposite and very unprofessional.

08/01/2024 Update: 3 dogs and 3 cats (plus mother-in-laws dog) have all now been moved to Blue Springs Animal Hospital, Awesome people and service.

Dr. Shrout and her team are simply the best - better than all the rest! She treats my kitties as if they were her own, is extremely responsive and information-driven, and I feel so lucky that she is our vet. I am beyond grateful to the crew at Cavanaugh Pet Hospital for their care and kindness.

I have been taking my animals to Cavanaugh Pet Hospital for almost 20 years. They are very good and have always treated my "babies" with the utmost care and concern. All the Drs. and Techs are great.

The Vets, Techs and Staff are friendly and caring. Annual visits are always a breeze and they sqeeze my pets in if they are ill. I would highly recommend Cavanaugh pet Hospital!

Our dog Bella was spayed and received excellent care from the whole staff.Dr. Stukey called to check on her.We would highly recomend them to all who have pets.Dr Shrout is her main vet and you can tell by the way she treats Bella how much she loves animals. We also have her groomed there with the best there is.

Cavanaugh Pet Hospital is the best. I started going here when Dr Cavanaugh himself was so helpful, sincere, and caring to meet with me for a consultation about my husky who couldn't walk (looked over x-rays, labs, and records from previous vet) and gave me an avenue to move forward (the previous vet had nicked a nerve during the anesthesia for an acl repair surgery) by getting me in touch with a specialist. Unfortunately there ended up being nothing that could be done, but Dr C's willingness to help out a non-patient really stuck with me.
Fast forward to me getting a dog again a few years later and I became a lifer here! Even though Dr C is semi- retired, the entire staff is fabulous. They are always so friendly at the front desk and the staff clearly cares about their patients. There have been several times over the years with various animals that I have had emergencies, and CPH has always been great at working them in the same day (or next day that time I called and left a voicemail at 230am as we left the pet ER).
The vets here will do everything they can for your pet, without pressuring you to do unnecessary procedures or medications. They also did not make me feel guilty when I finally made the difficult decision to my cat to sleep (multiple organ failure).
I can't say enough about how wonderful CPH. On top of their high standard of care, their prices are very reasonable as well, Everyone should take their pets here for care!
