I took my 14 year old Shih Tzu and sweet girl Ellie to the CAC for her 1st time for an extremely long battle with a terrible Yeast Infection and Skin Dermatitis on her entire belly. I previously took her to her long time Animal Clinic to be treated for at least 8 weeks with no positive results. Her Vet told me that it was a Yeast Infection and we tried everything he recommended but the oral medications made her vomit, lethargic, and she couldn't keep her food down. So I wanted a 2nd opinion. That's when I took her to see Dr. Kersten Bloss at the CAC. Dr. Kersten did something that the other 2 Vets didn't do or even recommend. Dr. Kersten took a Swab Culture of my Ellies belly in a few areas and then took it to her lab to then analyze. Dr. Kersten Bloss came back and told me the results of her swab culture and she found not only active Yeast Cells but also active Bacteria cells as well. That made perfect sense to me why the treatment for only a Yeast Infection was not effective. So Dr. Kersten started a regimen of Antibiotics for Ellie's Bacterial Infection and it has almost completely cleared up. She also gave me a Medicated Oatmeal Spray to help with her Skin Dermatitis to heal. I spent tons of hard earned money at her other Vet's Doctors and they never took a Swab Culture during her 2 month treatment. Dr. Kersten took care of the real issue within 2 1/2 weeks vs 2 very long months elsewhere! I would have given CAC a 5-Star Rating if it wasn't for the way my dog's stomach was examined on her very first visit laying her on her back on the hard counter with her front and back legs bound together by hand like being Hog Tied. Most dog's especially a 14 year old aren't very comfortable being placed on their backs against their will like a cat. My Ellie was so uncomfortable and scared that she pooped and peed on the counter and on herself too. In my opinion the exam could have been handeled differently. Hopefully in the near future I can give CAC a 5-Star Rating in the event my 2 Shih Tzus Ellie and Macy would need to see Dr. Kersten Bloss again. I'm extremely satisfied with the professionalism and how Dr. Kersten Bloss actually went the extra steps by taking a Lab Swab Culture of my Ellies belly and found the real issue and treated it with the right medications. I truly hope that my honest criticism and review doesn't ruin our relationship with my 2 girl's needing their help and treatment in the future. Macy my younger Shih Tzu recently had a benign tumor removed from the base of her tail by Dr. Kersten and Macy is back to herself again. The other 2 Vets did not recommend having it surgically removed from her tail but only drew out some small amounts of fluid several times over a 4 month period but the tumor didn't go away or decrease in size. So I highly recommend the wonderful and extremely friendly staff and Dr. Kersten and Mike Bloss in the event your dogs need some professional care and medical support ????
