The move coordinator stopped responding for days at a time. This happened at least three times -- there were multiple occasions where I was assured that I would have information by the end of the day, and I had to follow up to get information days later. She said, over and over, that she was sorry for dropping the ball and that it was her fault. My delivery was a full week late, and I had to follow up, repeatedly, to get that information, and the move coordinator said, over and, that she was sorry for dropping the ball and that it was her fault.I asked via email for my two desks to have disassembly and assembly added. Somehow, the move coordinator read "two desks" as "one big desk", supposedly, and only added one desk, so I'm being charged for the second desk after the fact despite it being her mistake. She said, over and over, that she was sorry for dropping the ball and that it was her fault. The actual movers were fantastic - they were efficient, friendly, and cooperative. It's a shame the overall experience was so bad that I can't improve the rating based on their service.Edit: They talk about honesty and integrity. If that's so important, why exactly am I being charged more now when the moving coordinator "misunderstood"? Just feels like one last "screw you" at this point. "Yeah, we screwed you over, and we'll do it again, too!"United Van Lines/Williams Transfer, if you want to make it right, like you keep saying, don't charge me for the third party thing based on someone "magically" misreading. Actually look into how on earth someone could disappear for days on end, *even when I was told she would call me immediately after her lunch*, and still be able to perform their job (hint: they can't.)

The entirety of their response is "we will do better". Not "we will make sure you don't get charged for someone's incompetence" (which what else can you call it when someone reads "two desks" and thinks "one big desk"?). Not "We will be fully reimbursing you for the extra expenses you incurred due to our own internal issues, beyond the contractually obligated $100/day". Not "we will make sure this never happens again". Just "better".

This is the worst company I’ve ever had any experience with in any sector of business. We have moved many times across country and have never had any damage. Rugs were stuffed into boxes instead of being rolled. The coup de grace is that a lamp was bent to fit the box as pictured below . The damages exceeded $125,000. The move was fraught with fraudulent procedures.

I had a 2 bedroom apartment and moved 10 miles away to another 2 bedroom apartment and was quoted $300-$400 for the move. They charged me twice as much. Stating that when one of the movers left a drain hose and a dryer vent they had to go back and get it. I got to the house and waited for them.. Even called and told them never mind it was taking them to long to get there. No reply! They finally came and I was charged way to much for the little I had to have moved and that when they forgot to items from the old house that it was "on me". Never again will I use them. Man in a Van is much reasonable and honest.

We had a bad experience with Williams Transfer/United Moving. I'll concede that all service-based companies are having a hard time finding dependable workers right now, so I'll try and be as fair as possible with that in mind.We moved from Memphis to St. Louis in June. The gentleman who performed our walkthrough and prepared our quote was professional and helpful. The quoted price was higher than I expected, but we decided to go with them anyway because we figured United was a large, reputable company that would take good care of us.The real trouble started on the day of the move. There we were, all packed and ready to go when, at 8:30 am, I get a call informing me that we won't be moving that day after all. Apparently, Williams didn't have enough workers to perform the job. We had already arranged for childcare for the day, a hotel room for the evening, and doggie daycare in anticipation of a full day of packing. Instead, we had to scramble to move everything back a day. I've asked repeatedly for some sort of compensation for the extra expenses we incurred, but Williams has ignored my requests despite initially promising to "make it right."Anyway, they did show up the following day, and the moving team was ROUGH. They left significant scratches on my wood floors in three different places with their wheeled dollies, and they tracked crushed red berries all over my carpets. I followed behind them all day, trying to conceal scratches and clean carpets. We were told that our stuff would likely be delivered to St. Louis (only 4.5 hours away) within a couple of days. Once again, however, they didn't have enough workers to drive the truck and unload, so we ended up without our stuff for 9 days, having to crash at my in-laws the entire time with a dog and two young children, and essentially wasting the time that we were off work and planning to unpack/settle into our new house. Technically, however, Williams/United made their contractual delivery commitment so, again, we received no compensation. Even worse, the "customer move coordinator" spent most of the 9 days avoiding us and refusing to answer my calls, leaving us up in the air until the very few hours before the delivery arrived. The unload team (local to St. Louis) was actually fantastic, but the load team had damaged several pieces of our furniture, including our antique dining room set. The unload team was appalled at the way the trailer had been loaded -- we saw them pointing and shaking their heads multiple times as stuff came off the truck. I went through the claims process with United and received a settlement check for the damage, but it still doesn't excuse the all-around negligence exhibited by Williams and their loaders. In the end, I paid this company approximately $9000.00 out of my own pocket (and we did the packing ourselves and even moved several trailers of boxes on our own too), but the service was well below what we expected to receive.

Day before the move and we found out that they had the date wrong when we called to verify. They basically said "oh well", with the exception of being told "I don't give a d*mn what you think" (thanks alot Jeff). They never called to to verify dates (like they said they would do). Horrible company - avoid them!!!

Mr. Rick Harris came out to our home and did a walk through. walked through the whole house and gave us advise as to what we would need crated and what they would pack for us. I have moved several times in my life due to my husband being retired from the military. This move is in the top 3 smoothest moves we have had. We had a hick up the day of the move but Kim was quick to work it out for us. Great over all experience. You pay good money to move but it is BY FAR worth it.

My husband and I had moved from MS to Amarillo. We originally were set to move at the end January. Our home sold way faster than we thought it would. They moved our packing up to help get us out fast. Our items were stuck in limbo as we had to finished closing on our home in Tx. They worked with us to store our items until we were ready. Awesome packers, driver was fantastic and hands down great company. I highly recommend them

We paid for full coverage insurance. They damaged several items including our brand new house. We filed a claim as requested. It has been greater than six months and have received nothing but empty promises. It appears they have no intention of honoring the insurance we paid for.... Read More

Lovely people. I had someone come out and do a survey. What I paid for the move was a little under what I was quoted. I had a crew come out, pack and load. The driver that was delivering was delayed a day due to weather(Hurricane) but stayed in contact with me the entire time. Unloaded quickly. Overall wonderful people. If we ever move back I will be calling them.

Was quoted 4 men and a truck for $195 an hour. Only 3 people showed up from 9AM to 3:30PM and one went home, so I had 2 men from 3:30 to 6:30. Was charged for 4 for 91/2 hours. Their crew chief reported he had 4 which is a bald face lie. I never left them all day, actually me, my wife, daughter in law, and grandsons all were helping carry stuff to the truck. I just can't handle liars.
