My hair is gone! Whatever you do please don’t go to a heavyset older lady name rosilyn. She ruined everything for me. Ive been hurt, devastated, and depressed since I’ve left jc penny salon. The stylist and I agreed for a silk press, no cut or trim. While she was flat ironing my hair, she said “ I think ima go on and cut this”. I asked the lady, well can you just trim the ends.. meaning my split ends. Then she said “ baby a cut is a cut” . I asked her how much she was going to cut off, and she showed me a small amount with her fingers saying “ a half of an inch”. That didn’t sound too bad since my hair was shoulder length , and the back of my hair was to my back. She made sure I didn’t see her do my hair. I was faced away from the mirror while I seen other clients facing the mirror. She was talking about my color, and tried to force a brown color on me that I didn’t want. She went against my wishes on my hair and a color she didn’t even do. I felt like she was hating on my hair, and wanted to give me what she thought I should have. I heard her excessively cutting the back of my hair. She was just chopping and chopping. I guess it gave her some kind of adrenaline. I didn’t realize how short my hair was until I got home and actually looked at my hair. My hair was healthy. My mom flat ironed it before, and I only had small split ends. I did hot oil treatments on my hair, and used cholesterol conditioner on my hair, so there was no justification on chopping my hair. She literally gave me a big chop. I had a man haircut. I felt the breeze in my head. I did the big chop last year, and my hair just not grew to how I wanted it to be. This was my first time trying color, and I absolutely loved it. Rosalyn ripped away my dignity, respect, and hair. When I got home I just started crying because the style she gave me was very ugly. So I wet my hair just to wear it back curly , and when I did that !? ALL OF MY HAIR WAS GONE I CANT EVEN DO A PUFFBALL OR PONYTAIL ANYMORE !! I am ashamed to wear my real hair now. I can’t even wear it curly. I’ve been wearing wigs, and that’s something I wanted to get away from . Now I have to start all over from scratch. It’s been about 4 days since this has happened, but I go to the bathroom at work every day and just cry because my hair was a thing I was very proud of. How I lost it, and how it grew back in a year was special to me. I will never forget or forgive rosilyn. I hope further actions would be taken against her. This is depressing. It felt like my whole world was torn apart. But I give this whole situation to God, and ima let his will be done with Rosilyn. She doesn’t need to do hair, if she can’t respect a clients wishes.Service: Hairstyling

My appointment was at 11:00 AM. When I got there, I was told they were having a mandatory meeting. Asked if I could come back later. I said no, I would reschedule. They called after I left and pretended they were the stylist I supposed to have seen. I know it was not them. So I will not be going back. It was deception at it finest.

I had to come leave a review! The new staff and management is amazing. I’ve been getting my hair done here since I was 14, and I can say I have seen people come and go. No worries because I’m here for a lifetime. The service is so sweet and genuine. My natural hair didn’t last a few hours after getting a silk press, I went back nervous (from previous horror stories with stylist) and the manager reassured me constantly that it was okay. They re did my hair exactly how I asked WITHOUT recharging me. Yes this salon is a tad expensive, but so is everyone. Atleast you’re paying for service, quality products, and stylist who genuinely want to see growth! Don’t hesitate to book or walk in! The energy is great.Service: Hairstyling

Tasha was amazing. Highly recommend her for a white guy fade and did an excellent job on my shampoo and eye brow wax. Took her time and was very courteous. If I lived in the area, I would come here religiously. Nice surprise!

Jcpenney salon is nothing but a money making scam. The store manager sets the tone of the salon. And I was not impressed by her attitude nor performance!! The services offered are not the best!!! You may have long wait times or stylist who leave you in the care of other stylist. Prices quoted on the phone "magically" change once you're in the styling chair. And let's not forget all of the added charges they'll mention once they're ringing you up. Please do yourself a favor....and find a stylist who cares about you and your hair!!! I'm so thankful that I did.Service: Hairstyling

I chose 1 star because it's a shame that JC Penney have only 1 check out register down stairs and 1 check out register upstairs. There are several workers of this store walking around, talking on a walkie-talkie, or just coming behind the checkout desk to drop off something or just to be seen instead of opening up a register. Please remember we are customers who are trying to pay someone's salary and we are having to stand in a long slow line just to make a purchase. Belk on the other hand has begun to open up more registers so I guess that's where I'll shop along with Dillard's since they tend to value the customer's time and money. On a 4 star note, the prices are affordable.

In June 2020, I went to JCPenney hair salon to have a wave nouveau system applied to my thick, healthy, natural hair by Tasha Shavers, who did a great job. On September 27, 2020, I returned with 3" of new growth and in need of a touch up. During this visit, Stephanie Boone-Owens, the hair salon manager, styled my hair because Tasha was not available.Boone-Owens ruined my hair by failing to follow instructions. She should have applied the product exclusively to the virgin growth; rather, she applied it to all my hair. When I left the salon the hair was curly but the next morning it became stringy, limp, and straight. I made a follow up appointment with Boone-Owens that she did not keep, and I have not heard from her since. So, I contacted the salon and reached Tasha, who attempted to restore the curls. She concluded that Boone-Owens had over processed my hair, and that I would have to wait 3 months before the product could be reapplied. After waiting 3 months and wearing baseball caps, I returned to the salon only to learn that Boone-Owens had forbidden Tasha from styling my hair, because she feared I was going to sue the store.I have since learned from Softsheen/Carson, the manufacturer of wave nouveau system, that my hair was irreparably damaged and would need to be cut off, which I did in December 2020. JCPenney's management never acknowledged the damage done to my hair. Boone-Owens has no business managing anything or styling hair. Mr. Links, the JCP supervisor, informed me that JCPenney has received several complaints regarding Boone-Owens from other customers. The salon is managed and staffed with incompetent, lying people who have no business serving the public.I have filed a complaint with the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology.

My appointment was for 3:00 p.m. I did not get in the chair until 4:00. My natural hair is thick with tight curls. The stylist complained the whole time about how tired she was and that she had been working with clients with thick hair all day. She also left me in the hands of another stylist while she went to her car to grab money for lunch. She had to borrow another stylist flat iron and edge control.I felt like the entire process was rushed and I looked like a frizzy poodle when leaving. I will never get my hair done at this place again.
